Summary: Average single player but the multiplayer makes up for it
Review: I got a copy of RTCW (Return to castle Wolfenstien) a few months ago and the single player was pretty cool at first then it was impossable with the Zombies. The Muliplayer makes up for the whole game. One of the best muliplayer ever. It really puts teamwork together. Like the soldier is able to use and of the mulitplayer weapons. The Medic are the only ones who can heal units. You really need then when is only limited lives. Engeniers are the only ones that can plant exploseives, which are used in many multiplayer missions. and Luetenits are the only ones who can give out extra ammo and areal stikes. If u want a great muliplayer game get this game.

Review: f-ing awesome game....if you know anything about pc games, you'll know that one of the early and best FPS's was Castle Wolfenstein...well, this game certainly is a fitting sequal to the original one...the graphics are stunning, the gameplay challenging, and maps fairly large. If you want a game that will give you hours of single play, and weeks of multiplayer, then this game is definately for you. Take my advice, I'm a seasoned gamer, and I have played most of the FPS's out there...this one is definately in my top 5, the others being DoD, CS, HL, and Medal of Honor...buy this game now...you wont be disappointed...

Summary: Return to Castle Wolfenstein: The Champion of All Games
Review: ... If you are only into single player games then go play Allied Assault or Jedi Knight. RTCW was designed for multiplayer. Period. While the single player is average to not too bad, multiplayer is where this game REALLY shines. I've never been a big fan of on-line multiplayer games and had very limited experience... until now. If you are a fan of first person shooters with realistic war tactics, RTCW is a game that you MUST own. There's never been a game that draws you in like this once you start playing. Since there are dozens of maps and thousands of people from all over the world to play with and against, the game never gets stale.

You can be one of four classes: Engineer, Medic, Lieutenant, or Soldier, each with unique properties. For example, Medics are the only ones that can heal or revive people. There are no random med kits lying around so you must rely on the medics to come help you when you're inured or you're dead. On the other hand, lieutenants are the only ones that can dish out ammo. Sure you can pick up dropped weapons but ultimately, everyone must rely on lieutenants for ammo. In addition, lieutenants have the ability to call for an airstrike that obliterates everything in its vicinity. A soldier is the only one that can wield every weapon available in the multiplayer mode. In addition to the standard knife, pistol and machine guns, a soldier can choose to carry a sniper rifle, a rocket launcher, a flamethrower or a rail gun. You don't want to carry that rocket launcher anymore? No problem, drop the weapon pick up another one off the ground. Finally the engineers are the only ones that carry dynamites. They are crucial in most games since most maps require blowing something up with dynamites.

Because of the class distinction, everyone must cooperate to complete the mission objectives. A team without any one class will lose and lose quickly. Therefore, the days of running around and doing everything by yourself is over. Ofcourse, if you're really good, you can do that but it's very difficult especially on larger maps.

There are litereally hundreds of public servers to join and there are always games available to you. One of the best parts of RTCW is that you can communicate instantly with a built in voice communication system. All you need to do is press a combination of keys and voila, you can tell your teammates about the enemy's position. You can also talk globally to both teams... . If you'd rather type a long message, then you can do that too.

Each map is unique with different objectives such as destroying the enemy communication center with dynamites or stealing a top secret code book and broadcasting it over the radio. However, since there usually are sub-objectives leading up to the primary objectives, the game is very difficult.

Finally, you can play different types of games on the same map. The standard multiplayer mode allows you to pick one side (Axis or Allies) and stay on that team for as long as you'd like. Stopwatch mode allows each team to beat the other team's previous time to complete the primary objective. Finally there's the good-old capture the flag mode.

Therefore, I urge you not to judge RTCW based on its single player mode. The single player mode is simply a warm up to one of the best and versatile games ever created. If you have cable or faster connection, then you must try the multiplayer. I promise you that you won't be disappointed.

NOTE: The multiplayer is very fast and may be frustrating at first. It does take a lot of practice to get used to. Also, the opponents are usually very good so you will be killed a lot. I mean a lot and even more. Learning the map is half the battle so stay on one map until you know it inside out. Remember to always aim for the head and don't get caught standing around.

Summary: Whaaaaa???????
Review: Well, well, well. I liked the first couple levels that reminded me of the classic. Then it got rediculous, and I was fighting legions of undead because the programmers decided to GIVE THE NAZIS A HOLIDAY and let invincible Zombies murder me instead.

So much for the good ol' revenge shooter. Is it just me, or is killing zombies kinda redundant? I mean, they're already dead, and don't make for a villian that makes me go, "Woo hoo!" when I've killed them.

Basically the programmers COULDN'T DECIDE WHETHER TO MAKE DOOM 3 OR WOLFENSTEIN first, and decided to slap the two together.

You basically have here WOLFEN-DOOM, complete with an INVINCIBLE ARMY OF NAZI JUGGERNAUTS, and a legion of INVINCIBLE NAZI ZOMBIES.

But I liked it. You should check out the demo or something.

Summary: Single Player is Bad
Review: This game's single player s[stinks].

For those who play this for a reason other than to have a box with "id" on it sitting on their shelf, the graphics are indeed incredible, but the ai is inconsistent and is frustrating. And for pete's sake people, THIS GAME WASN'T EVEN DEVELOPED BY ID at all - it just uses the game engine that id made for quake 3.

There are times where the enemy will reduce your health from 100 to 0 with a few shots and there are times when you can shoot the enemies from around a corner and they don't budge until they fall over dead. Rather than outsmarting the intelligent ai, gameplay constists of hiding from the enemies' superior firepower. Even when you have the same weapons as your opponent, it is obvious with certain weapons that you are more vulnerable to that weapon - namely the venom gun, the flamethrower and the electric shock thingy (can you say "world war 2 lightning gun"?). The venom gun, if you'ver ever played quake 2, is just the machine gun from q2. It starts shooting only after you hold the trigger a few seconds so it can start spinning before it spews bullets. But anyway, in rtcw, the enemies' venoms really don't have to "warm up" - they just start shooting immediatly. Another thing is that you only need to be touched by the flames of the flamethrower-weilding soldiers in "fireproof trenchcoats" to catch on fire, but of course they themselves are invulnerable to your fire and those without flamethrowers and trenchcoats need to be held under the flame for a good few seconds before their bullets stop hitting you and they start screaming. For a game that emphasizes realism as much as it does, these unfair aspects are pathetic and make the game a pain in the neck to play.

And for a game with location-based damage, I have never seen so many bare-head soldiers that require MORE THAN ONE HEAD SHOT to die.

This all adds up to make an extremely frustrating gaming experience. DON'T BUY THIS FOR AN FPS WITH A STORY. BUY IT FOR THE MULTIPLAYER if you are interested. Read the other reviews for info about the multiplayer.

Review: I know the QIII engine's not exactly cutting edge these days, but for smooth framerates and a great storyline, this game rocks. when the Reich babes start coming out, you'll still take a minute to ponder their inert bodies after you waste them!...

Summary: Hard Eye Candy
Review: I really looked forward to this game. It is now gathering dust. I don't have a broadband connection, so the multiplayer aspect is useless to me. The single-player missions start off hard, and quickly get to the "yeah, right" difficulty level. I hate to cheat to win, but I found that I had to go into god mode early and often just to get through. I have not finished this one, and I bet I never will. The graphics are state-of-the-art, but the gameplay is seriously lacking. Get Medal of Honor instead. I didn't have to cheat to beat that one.

Summary: Blasting Nazis Away Pretty Fun
Review: This game absolutely rocks! Well worth full pricetag too. It matches Medal of Honor Allied Assault without a doubt in terms of a quality game. To sum up gameplay you start off the game going on missions to kill Nazis(almost identical type gameplay as Medal of Honor games) inside a Castle owned by a high ranked Nazi. Your job is to investigate some roomors of strange experiments and kill any Nazis you see along the way. As you advance through the game you reveal all these nasty top secret experiments that the Nazis have been conducting in or around the castle and man do they get weird. The nazis are doing such things as turning humans into monsters to aid them with their war effort and guess who has to deal with these guys. This game gets my highest recommendation. Praise to Activision for finally coming out with a great game.

Summary: A MUST HAVE FOR FPS FANS!!!
Review: I have been a huge Wolfenstien fan since its beginning as a DOS game about 10 years ago. This game is everything you could possibely want in a first person shooter. The graphics are amazing(and my computer is only so-so) and the storyline is intriguing. This game is incredibely fun and delightfully violent. You travel all over Europe during WW2, brandishing 9 fun -to-use weapons. The game is based on Hitler's obsession with the occult, and the surprises in this game are really great(stay away from statues.) I have to say that this is the best game I have ever played for the PC! Move over Half-life, this game is hands down the ebst game I've ever played!
This game was voted the best of 2001 and rightfully so!
