Rating: Summary: Yes it's saving private ryan 3d style Review: If you've ever watched the movie saving private ryan and loved it, this game is for you. They've got everything down from flamethrowers to the medics. And I must say the multiplayer demo is freakin great. And the graphics/effects are topnotch especially with the flamethrower. I've played all the big muiltuplayer shooting games (unreal tournament, tribes 2, red faction, etc) but this one goes up there with unreal tournament but with alittle more strategy. You'll literally think you're in the trenches with this game-go download the multiplayer demo, you'll love it.
Rating: Summary: more of the same... Review: The graphics are nice, very smooth (with my graphics card anyway, can't say for yours) and the single-player levels are innovative. Compared to some of the older FPSs out there like quake and unreal the levels are interesting and fun. About on par with half life or HALO. Multiplayer beats the older generation of games, but is about on par with some of the shareware half-life mods. I've noticed that most of the people that really rave about it don't play many of the newer games, though your results may vary. As far as I can see, nothing new here.
Rating: Summary: Paying for a mod Review: It's pretty sad that anyone would actually pay for this game. Yeah, it MIGHT have a good single player game. The multiplayer so far, is sorta lame. Just a rip off from CTF basically. And the game itself is only a damned MOD. The graphics aren't impressive at all, not compared to others FPS that are out right now. And the flame thrower is pathetic. Check out the Unreal 2 one. Much more realistic and impressive. I'd just save my money for Unreal 2, or another game, which uses a modern engine, not a mod for an old engine which was only half way decent to begin with.
Rating: Summary: Beta 2 okay, but whats all the fuss Review: Since Beta 1, they have solved most of the annoying problems, and added new annoying problems. The actual game play is much better now, with other connections not interrupting your own, and I like the axis vs. allies, and assortment of men that can be played. This is only slightly more fun than Quake III as a multiplayer game. Verdict, fun at first, but after a couple of weeks it just becomes another 3D shoot-em up.
Rating: Summary: If there is one game you pre-order this year, this is it !!! Review: Many people will give a game five stars before it is released without playing the game. While I have only played the single map multiplayer demo currently available I have also seen presentations of the game's single player levels and other multiplayer levels available. There is only one online multiplayer demo map available right now and it's still more popular than most regular titles that have released their full game.If you're not a fan of FPS (first person shooter) games, this might be the one that attracts you to the genre because I know I'm only a so-so FPS fan but have fallen in love with this game and can't wait for its release. A creative action game set in WWII that much like the Indiana Jones movies, revolves around Nazis and their quest for the occult and supernatural. One aspect of the multiplayer format that makes it so fun is the teamwork required. Most team formats in FPS games have the same type of soldiers with the same weapons available for all players. Not so in Return to Castle Wolfenstein. You must pick a class of soldier to play (soldier, lieutenant, medic and engineer) which reflects the weapons you are permitted and the special abilities you can use. Some classes start with more ammunition. Each class has a specific function in the multiplayer map you pick and must be used in unison with other players and their chosen classes to complete the team's objectives. While medics might be reviving fallen comrades, lieutenants can call airstrikes on enemy positions, soldiers can use flamethrowers to sniff out enemy bunkers, engineers arm dynamite to blow up strategic walls, etc... The game is programmed with useful team comments and a chat function so you can effectively communicate with your German or American teammates. There are numerous multiplayer maps available with Return to Castle Wolfenstein and each has different objectives that must be completed for victory. As more FPS games have been released, the typical deathmatch scenarios (every man for himself) have been overused and companies have run out of creative weapons and graphics displays to make their particular FPS game different than the rest. The developers of Wolfenstein realized this and that is why they have designed multiplayer formats that require teamwork and creative selections of different classes and their abilities. The single player levels are not a disappointment either. In single player mode you can use many of the weapons and abilities that would not be allowed in multiplayer mode. Your objective is to infiltrate a Nazi headquarters (Who doesn't love killing Nazis?) while using sniper rifles, venom guns (gattling guns), flamethrowers, dynamite and other useful weapons/items for your individual mission. The programmers have given the computer opponents an impressive amount of intelligence and you watch enemies scared off when you wield certain high-powered weapons. The game is programmed to have guards set in preset positions and when you trigger alarms, rather than have enemies spawn in the area, the AI has your enemy opponents run from their preset positions to the alarm that was set off. Many websites have the demo available for download and the magazine, PC Gamer, will include a single player demo. Try out the demos to see if you enjoy the game but this is one title that will be so popular at its release that I would make sure you have preordered a copy to avoid being left without the game.
Rating: Summary: By far the best in its class Review: I inhaled a breath of fresh air when I logged on to my first game of Castle Wolfestein. Mind Blowing Graphics, Gameplay to die for, and a limitless future of multiplayer mayhem. Ive played them all! Unreal Tournament, DOD, Quake III, and CounterStrike are about to be overtaken by one hell of a game that combines the strategy , graphics , and tactics of all three with new and improved realism using an enhanced version of the Quake III engine. Download the Demo, and run to the store on November 28th cuz this one rocks!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Wolfenstien Review: I have played the demo game for 1 month now and I am impressed in 3 days i get the full version. Oh hell I can't wait.
Rating: Summary: It was a pretty good game Review: The graphics are the best I have ever seen in my life.
Rating: Summary: Great game! Review: Highly original- A great game- Honestly, the first MP Demo Test sorta sucked- It was really slow, the players all jerked around, and it was pretty buggy... The newest MP Test is so much better- and well on its way to the final version, I'm sure- MUCH better framerates, ping, and no jerkiness anymore- The game's Objective based "capture the flag" MP mode works great- Really intuitive team work needed... I love it!
Rating: Summary: Finally a Counter-Strike Beater Review: About time. There is great action, and the game has an added level of sophistication by allowing tasks like re-armament by lieutenants, revival by medics, and engineering efforts that allow you to destroy or repair key items...none of which are difficult to learn. Some games (like Tribes 2) just take too long to learn before you can get any real enjoyment out of them. For all of those growing tired of cheaters on Counter-Strike (or getting your butt handed to you by 14 year-olds with hours of daily play experience) this is a great new game. As an aside: I hope cheating doesn't become an issue here...I'm glad I've found a new game, but will stop playing (or buying mods and sequels) if they don't deal with it as soon as it happens. The FF setting (Friendly Fire) is great...server sets it so you get automatically kicked after your third time, unless the player you killed forgives you. An instant menu pops up for him while he's waiting in re-enforcement queue...I'm a big fan of FF on...it adds additional sophistication to the game play...and tends to keep the shoot-and-bunny-hop kiddies off the server. Minor flaws so far: the running animation isn't very realistic at times...from certain angles some of the Axis guys look like they are being pushed around on a magnetic board, and I'm not sure I can tell the difference between the Thompson and the MP40. The bazoka is QUITE effective though! The different built-in voice commands are difficult to navigate (due to the amount of relevant and inmportant ones available) and may require some binding of favorites.
