Rating: Summary: Save your money Review: Save your money, RTCW is the latest overrated dissappointing first person shooter to come out. AI? None. Graphics? Quake Plot? Essentially none. Major step backwards from HalfLife and Unreal. Still trying to figure out how I was imprisoned in a nazi castle yet got my mission objectives. The graphics are incredibly dissapointing. There was no sense of discovery and the unknown like in Halflife. The AI was nonexistent (when you get to the guard behind the bullet-proof glass and you jump up and down and shoot at him and he just stands there you will understand). If you have nothing better to do I guess it will provide the first person shooter fix, but you will be left dissapointed. Play Halflife again, it is more fun even the second time.
Rating: Summary: Take Gaming to the Next Level!! Review: Return to Castle Wolfenstein is an all out World War II game that has high-quality gameplay and graphics. ID software created this game so no wonder it's a hit. Return to Castle Wolfenstein has great single and multiplayer games! So after you play single player try out the multi player for an even more intense battle. Single player is very fun, but kind of short. You shoot down enemy soldiers and dark beasts such as zombies. It has a fantastic storyline, great variety of weapons, extremely talented voice acting, and of course, sweet 3-D graphics that'll keep you on the edge of your seat begging for more! Multiplayer is very different from single player. You are either on the Axis or Allied team. You must get past the enemy to complete your objective in order to win a round in multi player. You can choose from four different soldier classes. They are Soldier, Medic, Luitenant, and Engineer. Soldier class is your main firepower class with heavy-duty weapons. If you choose Medic you get a choice of limited weapons to choose from and you have to run around on the battlefield risking your very own life to save your teamates who have been severely injured. Luitenant has a nice limited of weapons. His job is to call air strikes and ground assaults infantry. Engineer class has two jobs. He goes running around blowing stuff up that blocks your team's way. His other job is to repair mounted guns, so the engineer is a very important person to have on your team. On multi player you can see bullets flying everywhere, and when you are on the beach of normady blowing away your enemy, it actaully feels like you're in a real battle. This is such a high-performanced knock out game, so why not take your gaming to the next level?
Rating: Summary: Good game! Review: This is an awsome game, i recommend it to everyone.
Rating: Summary: An all-around solid game Review: Return to Wolf is a great game, provided your PC has stats above the minimum requirements. Id made good use of the Quake 3 engine; the game has particle effects to burn, good architecture and draw distance, and textures that look good even up close. The sound is also well done, with every weapon having a unique firing sound and all terrain types crunch differently under your feet. Both single and multi modes are a lot of fun; they definitely benefitted from having a different developer for each. While Id crafted a solid albiet slightly anticlimatic single player mode, Nerve's multiplayer mode is where the game gets a lot of its replay value. The best multi action is found in Team mode: Axis vs Allies, in a variety of different maps with plenty of variations on straight deathmatch, capture the flag and goal oriented missions. If you're a fan of the first Wolfenstein, first person shooters or online gaming, Return to Wolf will be right up your alley.
Rating: Summary: Very good, but not the best Review: If you have a very good system, this is a very good game. The graphics and gameplay are truly amazing. It is a very good game however, its on the short side, it took me 8 and 1/2 hours to beat it, and I am not the best gamer in the world here. The difficulty levels dont really change much. And for me there is a little to much running around in the dark killing monsters and zombies. Don't get me wrong, its a very good game, worth the buy, just dont expect to be as good as sliced bread.
Rating: Summary: Looks Great-Plays Long Review: Graphics beat Max Payne, that's saying a lot. I've replayed it more than twice the hours of Max Payne. Never going to put RtCW on ebay. Ran *smooth* on 866 P3 with 32 meg NVidia GF2 GTS. No bugs no patch, high framerates. You need 1600x1200 resolution to get the full photorealism. For that, used 1.53 Althlon and GF3. Make sure you at least look at it in 1600x1200, even if you are running a slide show. RtCW is without a doubt the game of the year. It gets beat in the mag ratings because of a weak story. For whatever reason, FPS games do not provide stories like the best movies and books. Does Half-Life compare to Apocolypse Now? Give up looking for high art stories; appreciate the immersion and graphics.
Rating: Summary: blast away at the nazi hordes Review: This is one of the best FPS games I have played. I just recently completed Red Faction and Max Payne, but I find that Wolfenstein is superior to both. Be warned that this is not an easy game. Some of the levels require considerable strategy and not just a quick trigger finger and excellent aim. The AI seems to be pretty good. I have had enemies toss grenades back at me and dodge my sniper rifle. They also tend to hide and surprise you. Sometimes they can be quite aggravating and difficult to eliminate. I would like to have a function key assigned for save and load operations. As it is, you have to escape to the menu screen and save or load from there. There is a qucksave/quickload function key that is quite useful. Otherwise, I have no complaints. I am about half-way through the game and I hate to see it end. I hope there will be additional missions released before too long. I have not experienced any problems running the game. I am running Windows Me on a 1.4 Ghz Pentium with a 32 Mb Nvidia video card. I have not had a single lock up during the time I have been playing Wolfenstein. Although this is a fairly fast system, I have had lock-up problems with other games, so having a new, fast system doesn't always mean perfect operation. Wolfenstein, fortunately, has not caused any problems.
Rating: Summary: Multiplayer Mayhem Rocks Review: This is a great game. The single player mode is very fun. I completed it over the course of a weekend. It's actually a good warmup to hone your skills before jumping into the multiplayer fray. The multiplayer game is awesome. There are several very good maps and I am already craving more. All my friends who have tried the game became instant addicts. There was one hitch in my install. The game didn't like the video driver I had for my Nvidia Riva TNT2 video card. I got the latest driver from the Nvidia website and it works fine. For multiplayer you might want to upgrade your RAM. I found that with 128MB on my PIII 800 system I was getting into new games a lot slower than other people. I upgraded to 384MB of RAM and get into games a lot faster now.
Rating: Summary: This game is really good! By Gamemaster Jason Review: This game looks amazing! When I got this game I realized the graphics were pretty good for a computer. I love the new weapons in the game even though they could have added a bit more. The game however is a bit short, so I beat the game in no time with the help of a few friends for some of the puzzles. The thing that is really good is the graphics and the the totally awesome multiplayer mode. I love it! My only wish is that it comes out for my XBOX, PS2, OR GAMECUBE. Activision did a good job in the making of this game and in seems to be sucessful. I was a big fan of wolfenstein 3d having beat the last boss guy that says something in German when He sees you. After you escape, you give a loud whoop of joy and it was over..Boring! This game is awesome and I recommend you to get this game. Graphics 4 Sound 4 Gameplay 2 Satisfaction 5 overall 4 (not averaged) Greatest Gaming Moment Beating the game three times in a row. Time played: 10+hours
Rating: Summary: Mediocre. Don't buy it because it says "Wolfenstein" Review: I remember the good old days of Wolfenstein, the first true first person shooter. The game was so simple, yet it was such a breakthrough title, leading the way for Doom and probably most of the games you play today. Unfortunately, I feel Return to Castle Wolfenstein is trying to use the name Wolfenstein for sale increases. Personally, I really enjoy the multiplayer, which is very well done and balanced, but I can't give the multiplayer a review without looking at the singleplayer. I feel the single player episode is very lacking in many aspects, especially when compared to other games. A technical achievement in graphics isn't even present (contradictary to what others say), with the Quake 3 engine being poorly used. When compared with Medal of Honor: Allied Assault's models and art, this poor attempt is almost humorous. The third-person models of guns in MoH:AA are numerous times better than the first-person "high-detailed" unrealistic models in RtCW. The enemies are unvaried and most of the time unfair. The weapons sometimes make no sense, considering last time i checked, you don't drop a rocket launcher after you fire one shot. The sounds are nothing special, and what I really feel is horrible, and this is just a personal gripe, is the GERMANS DO NOT SPEAK GERMAN! It feels like fighting random people when you're supposed to be in the middle of intense combat with foreigners. It's something small, but small things make up games. This game is mediocre, and sometimes even below average. The AI is pretty good, but it does not make up for the rest of the lackluster properties of the game. Save your money for a real game, such as Medal of Honor.
