Summary: Good solid game.
Review: Needless to say there is a lot of hype surrounding SC. Most of it is well earned. Perhaps what SC does better than any other game is deliver a solid well made experience with a lot of style, polish and oozes atmosphere. In short: there isn't a single element in the game that is lacking. It's hard to think of a single good reason why someone should overlook this game. And for PC gamers the game got even more work to use the newest state of the art graphic effects. The games' lighting and shadows not only look impressive but also is a key to the vast amount of stealth movement used through the single player campaign. For once a game that not only looks good but makes the graphics an integrated part of the gameplay.

However I did not find it to be the game to end all games. Much of the campaign is scripted. Meaning some things will not happen with out the player triggering it first. This makes the game rather linear and requires some irritating trial-and error before you can pull off a perfect mission. There is also no type of multiplayer or other features to explore (would co-op be too much to ask for these days?). After you have played it once there isn't anything more to do but play it again and again, taking the same linear path to complete the objectives.

Splinter Cell however focuses on doing one thing right rather than try to do too much. Certainly it delivers a just plain cool game well worth every penny.

Summary: WAIT, READ THIS FIRST----BORING...Good Night
Review: This game has NOTHING in common with other Clancy games. Personally I do not care for the game at all. Having read the other reviews regarding this game, I was under the impression that they were similar in that you were part of a team trying to catch the bad guy. I enjoy shooting and blowing stuff up. This game is about one individual who has to sneek around, while trying to be extreamly quite, to complete his objective. This is fine if you DO NOT enjoy destroying things within a game. Buy this game for it's graphics, level of difficulty, and to enjoy a "sneaky" good time. However, please do not think that this is anything like Rouge Spear or Rainbow Six, it is not. All in all, I wish I could get my money back. This type of play just is not for me. I'm sure though that some will really have a great time being quite.

Summary: Hands down the best game in it's class!
Review: This game is by far the best game ever in this genre! It has absolutely amazing graphics, gameplay is stellar. The only thing that I do not like is som of the controls. In order to move faster (walking vs running) you have to use your scroll feature on the mouse. This gets rather bothersome if you get into a tight situation where you need to run away or whatever. If you are used to using the controls that are basic with most other games such as Counter-Strike, it might be hard for you. Other that that, this is such a great game.

Summary: Awesome game, but has bugs...
Review: I played the PC demo and had a minor graphics glitch here and there but didn't think anything of it. I gave the demo to 2 of my friends, and it caused problems in their computers.

I was so eager to get this game for the PC I shrugged it off. As soon as the game shipped, there was already a patch for it.

I'm frustrated right now because I'm roughly half way into the game and I can't continue because when the level loads the game crashes.

As for my computer, it's a clone, but a good one (Win XP Pro, 512 MB DDR RAM, 40GB Western Digital HD, nVidia GeForce4 MX440, DirectX 9.0, SiS 645 chipset, P4 1.7Ghz)

I recommend either buying a console version of this game, or waiting until all the problems have been fixed.

Summary: Thumbs to the side, but angled upward.
Review: I must admit this is one game I'm really torn on.

On one hand, the graphics are some of the best I've ever seen (especially lighting effects), and I really appreciate the number of moves available without controls being too complex or difficult to learn at all. It frankly just looks and plays very beautifully and smoothly (even on a mid-level system), and game load times are some of the most fast and efficient I've ever encountered (which is a joy in and of itself).

On the other hand, I'm more than halfway through the game, and have suddenly found it virtually impossibly difficult (maybe it's just the individual level?), and am quite frustrated by having to repeatedly save and load virtually every five steps I take just to make progress by trial and error at this point. Up until now, the game hasn't been *that* challenging, and it's suddenly turned. Most of the work seems to have gone into presentation over actual gameplay, at least to this point.

Overall, I'd say if one has a bit of money to burn, the graphics in-and-of-themselves might make this worthwhile. It's also a nice change to play a game where stealth is a marked factor over just shooting away (though I must add the stealth element is done 100 times better than other games like Hitman 2--it's not a pain like it can be in some games. If anything, it's closer to the periodic stealth element that occurred in No One Lives Forever 2--useful, but not an automatic game-ender if one blows it depending on circumstance).

This is a very good game, and worth a looksie for the more serious gamer looking for something a bit different. For someone looking for "wiser" spending choices, however, I'd still recommend No One Lives Forever 2, or perhaps Jedi Knight. Going through Warcraft 3 again might even be a more worthwhile way to spend one's time.

Splinter Cell has some great aspects to it, especially when it comes to presentation, but enjoyment and creativity values somehow leave something lacking when compared to some of the greats. Thumbs to the side, but angled upward. With some polish, a sequel could one day be a game of the year contender.

Summary: Excelent game but too short
Review: This is the best game i've ever seen, the only reason I gave it a four and not a five is because it's too short. I bought the game yesterday played it from about 5:00 pm - 12:00 AM then i played today from 10:00 - 6:00 with many stops i didn't play the game all the time so basically it took me a little over 12 hours. It's not the shortest game, longer then Max Payne for those of you who have played that but not anywhere near as long as half-life. If you like great graphics, gameplay and a good story line get this game, one thing i will warn you about though is the ending is kinda lame don't expect anything great at the end!

Summary: I have a demo for it for the PC...
Review: And the lightning effects aren't at as a high resolution, and aren't as realistic but are still very good. All other engine quality is equal. The game ran much slower than it did on XBOX, 10fps. 30 on XBOX. Well wat dya expect when your running it on a GeForce 2 series video card. The game requires 256 mb of ram, 800MHZ pentium 3 or equivelant, 32mb 3-D hardware T & L directx8.1 compatible video card dx8.1 etc a bit higher than unreal 2's system requirements. This game still looks beatiful on the PC, a geforce 3 is recommended, I suggest a powerful computer for this game. :)
