Rating: Summary: A dissapointing let down Review: The initial thought of the game seems good enough: trying to break down the all-too-linear approach to first person shooters, and give the player alternative ways to finish off your objectivies. But this is exactly where the game fails. The missions are clearly designed for two specific approaches: (1) Blast your way through (which is remarkably easy) or follow a very fixed stealth route. The first level could be an example. Here you are supposed to assassin an important trial member. You can then either choose to shoot everything that moves, or get on top of a building an snipe the target. Those are basically your two options. And quite frankly, I had expected a much more open gameplay. The computer A.I. is also horribly bad. On one level, you can easily stand against a corner, shoot two guards that are in the room, and then wait for other guards to come running in and shoot them too (all the time you hardly take a hit). Here's another example: At one point you're supposed to kill a trial leader. After having disguised yourself as a waiter, you attempt to give him a poisened bowl of soup. Unfortunately for the trial leader's bodyguard, he has to taste the soup and ends up dying. There's a cinematic gunfight where the leader escapes. Now here's the thing: after the gunfight, everything returns to normal and all the trial guards in the resturaunt doesn't seem to have noticed anything. The positive thing about the game are the graphics. The movement of the characters are fairly realistic. I especially like dragging corpses behind me and watch how their bodies bump into furniture and such. If you try dumping a body over a toilet, you'll see how it slumps down the side and falls to rest on the floor. Very nice. The jungle levels are also impressive, with the trees and the plants. But as they say: gameplay above graphics, and here "Hitman" fails miserably.
Rating: Summary: Sad... so, so sad Review: The idea that you are a hitman who is hired to kill VIP's is really cool. Unfortunately for us, this game doesn't deliver that. You read the back of the box and visit the web site and you start to think that this is going to be an awesome game. Then you go to your local software store, buy the game, come home and install it and commense to play the game. Within the first 5 minutes of playing, you realize that you just wasted a good 50 or so dollars. The gameplay is smooth.... at times. The majority of the time it's jumpy and skippy. The camera angles suck. The graphics are very well done, but that's about the only thing to commend this game for. Perhaps they should've re-thought the idea of making this game in a 3rd person view. All-in-all, this game doesn't live up to the back of it's box. Don't waste your money!!!
Rating: Summary: Buy Deus Ex Review: After purchasing Deux Ex and falling in love with that game, I looked within the Eidos family to find another FPS with the same kind of action and functionality as Deus Ex, after reading many good reviews on Hitman I decided to give it a day in court. I just want to say that Hitman is a satisfying game in its own right, but when compared to Soldier of Fortune and Deus Ex it simply can't hold its water. So I urge you to give Deus Ex a try, and give Hitman a go only if you have a day to spare to fly through it.
Rating: Summary: better than SOF Review: I have only played the demo...but this game is hella cool...the resturant mission (only one available in the demo) is extremely hard...i have completed it many times...but i fail it because i bring to much attention to myself...apparently thr uzi isnt the best weapon to use for stealth...anyways...a great game overall...my favorite right now...better than any FPS on the market...in every area...graphics are comparable to SOF, with game play much better, still a fairly linear plot tho...but...oh well...some bugs do plague the game...but all games have idiosyncracies (sp)...
Rating: Summary: Unbearabley Good! Review: If you don't buy this game, your soul is not yet complete. This game has THE BEST graphics of any game I have ever played. Plants rustel as you walk by, curtains move when you walk through them, you can kill people, take their clothing, and hide their bodies. People are realistic. They look at you as you walk by, and then keep walking. The arsneal at your diposal is realistic, and can pack a lot of firepower. You can pick up enemie weapons, and can use their gear. Only the lack of in-game save feature and the difficulty of the missions prevent it from being perfect.
Rating: Summary: Bugs and Thugs Review: First problem: More bugs then a dirty house. No ingame save makes it an utter test of futility. I also had problems when using the scope on the rifle and the binoculars. No matter how I tried, I couldn't make the character drop it, so I was stuck with having to turn off the game and open it back up, hench starting at the same stage and figuring out how to complete the mission without the sniper rifle or binoculars. Second problem: Some of the missions lead to confusion, no matter what you try, nothing seems to work (as in the second mission at the resturant.). But all in all, it was a good game, if you like figure out ways to kill people with piano wires, knives and guns without being arrested. Wait until the price goes down, then you won't feel as bad when you give up in frustration and throw it in the pile of other games that you haven't finished yet.
Rating: Summary: Don't believe the hype. Review: I'm not sure who's writing the reviews for this game, but I suspect they are friends or family of the developers. This game has so many AI flaws that it makes it nearly impossible to enjoy. Bottom line, the enemies are stupid. They rush into rooms to attack you but they don't attack. Instead they stand there for 5-10 seconds with their guns aimed at you. Making them pretty much pistol fodder. The game is very easy to beat, even on the hard setting. The puzzles are pretty simple to figure out. The plus side of this game are the superb level designs. Though the engine really isn't suited for a Metal Gear Solid type game. I find the controls to be pretty clunky. It takes about three or four keyboard and mouse commands to even pull a gun out. Huh? I would wait till the price comes down on this one. It's fun for about the first 3 or 4 hours but after that it starts to lose it's edge.
Rating: Summary: Hitman is a HIT! Review: This is a great game! This is a first person/3rd person strategic type game. Basically you are a Hitman hired to perform different assasinations using various tools of death, ranging from piano wire (strangle your victims),sniper rifles, AK47's, and Beretta's with silencers! Million ways to die, choose one! This is not a typical shoot em up, try shooting in a room filled with Triad mobsters and you'll be swiss cheese! You have to use stealth and disguise (you can take clothes off of your victims and wear them to sneak in) to get close enough to your target to eliminate him and collect your cash. The AI is pretty good, If you shoot someone, the guards or passerbys will hear the shots and be alarmed, if you kill someone in broad day light witnesses will alarm the guards, if you leave dead bodies in the street, your cover will be blown. Unfortunately, I am one of the gamers that gets nauseated with first person games, but the whole concept, graphics, plot, layout of this game keep me on the computer to the edge of tears and vomit, it's that addicting. Bottom Line: Challenging, great graphics, and game play, sounds are realistic, AI is smart. Go and grab this title for your PC you won't be dissapointed. Warning to youngsters, extremely graphic and violent content, so let your parents know, so they don't trip when they see you cutting peoples throats in the game. Gamer247 is OUT! Game on!
Rating: Summary: Hitman: Right on Target! Review: Hitman is without a doubt a great game. It is different, well made with an original engine and has some sweet graphics that present its strategic and smart gameplay. First off the weapons are the best I have ever seen in a game, because of how they work, feel and sound. You get to use more weapons than I can write in this review, and you have to use them wisely. The best part of this game is that you can't shoot first and ask questions later (well you can but you will soon most likely regret it) and that you get to hunt and stalk your targets. The only cons are that it doesn't have a "in game" save feature (which I think will be added in its first patch) and there is no multiplier which is a shame because the game has beautiful graphics and great melee battles. But overall if you buy this game you will not regret it.
Rating: Summary: HItman is tight Review: hitman is a very cool game and everyone should buy it. The only real prblem is that it is insanly hard to beat
