Summary: Get this- you won't regret it!
Review: A very scary game. If you ever thought about surround sound, then buy it too. I heard thumps and screams coming from every speaker! I found myself being attacked as I was trying to figure out where all the spooky sounds were coming from!

Summary: UT in the Fantasy era !
Review: 1st of all, CBU is a very publicized game and it was promoted long before it was released. The game utilizes an enhanced version of Unreal Tournament game engine which is visually stunning but requires a stable mediocre station with at 450 mhz to enjoy. The game is very rich and detailed and characters are also convincing and mix with the evil plot. Sincerly, i believe that the game is intended for lower end systems because the polygon count on many characters is very low and most of the enviroment is very cubish. The game's horror theme is very well designed and the maps remind me of J.R.R Tolkien's maps which are Top Notch quality. It has a rich array of ancient weapons that are similar to the modern FPS weapons such as Tibettan War cannon which is similar to grenade launcher of some short ranged kind. The main innovation is the integration of spells which effect your own character and enhance your abilites or attack your enemies. A weak point in the game is the physics engine which enables you to jump of a very high place without getting hurt and the fact that you can jump for miles. My last single remark regarding the game will be that there is no gore at all, the enemies don't even fly away in agony when they are hit by a missile, they just blow and disappear or just lie down on the floor so this element is very poor. CBU is a very good game but it has no real quantom leaps and it's powered by a very powerful game engine which enhances the gaming experience greatly, without considering it's minor flaws it's very well designed and polished game and it will be remebered as a 95% creation. Enjoy!

Summary: Too much blood, not enough game play
Review: This game was difficult to play because the character was hard to maneuver (you see through his eyes), the controls were not user friendly, and at the drop of a hat, monsters are ripping your head off. Yuck! There are no fun puzzles and clues to figure out, it is just a bunch of running around chasing "bad guys". This is ok for the blood thirsty teen-ager, but not for someone who genuinely loves a good thought inspiring interactive game. If you are like me, get "The Longest Journey". That was the best game I have ever played. This one is a waste of money.

Summary: Mediocre
Review: I expected this game to perform better on my system: NVIDIA 64MB GeForce card and a 933 Pentium 3. I'm going to be in the minority here, but my main complaint about this game is the graphics. Though the graphics aren't bad, I anticipated Electronic Arts to live up to the quality of graphics they presented in ALICE. However, UNDYING is a few step backwards. UNDYING does not support OpenGL. It does support 3dfx Glide - which only works with the now discontinued Voodoo cards. The UNREAL engine was not a good choose guys. UNREAL was great, but it's a little dated now. In addition, the frequent loading transition from scene to scene slows the pace of the game down and there is little interaction with the environment.

On a more positive note, I will say that the combination of weapons and spells is a refreshing addition for a 1st person shooter and the atmosphere is effectively creepy. I enjoyed the movie replays of the monsters killing my character.

Overall, this game is a mediocre presentation of a good idea. Sorry Clive, I love your fiction.

Summary: Unbelievable graphics
Review: A couple of years ago I got hooked on the N64, and haven't played a PC game since. I saw the pre-reviews on this game, and decided to try PC games again. I ordered Undying and loaded it. I was very surprised as to how easily it loaded. That was one of the reasons that I stopped playing PC games.

After going through the setup and jumping right into the game the first thing that I noticed was the speed and level of detail of the 3D rendering. I have never seen anything like it. The weapons and enemy are smooth, and varied, and the sound is incredible. I have a PIII 1Gig with 256Meg Ram and a high end 32Meg graphics card.

Usually I prefer action games (ie Doom), and usually get bored with pure task oriented games, but they managed to combine the two very well, into a fairly solid story (still a bit much for me)with enough shooting to keep me interested.

I only have one complaint with the game, and that is I find the controls to be horrendous. Having been away from PC games for so long, I really hate having to hit the up arrow key and control to jump. This would be fine, if the game didn't require precision jumping. I really wish they had integrated a joystick into the game. I don't want to use the keyboard.

Other than that it is a very enjoyable game.

Summary: Very Nicely Done!
Review: Pros - this is a very good game for the First Person Shooter genre. I have played them all. Wheel of Time is my favorite FPS of all time so I have to compare all FPS to that. First of all, the Graphics are awsome. The weapons are easy to use, and the storyline is great. Good as a horror game. Gave me the feeling of going through the haunted mansion at Disneyland. Lots of creepies and the action is smooth and looks great.

Cons - this game does not have many, but one that I saw was the game is to linear. It won't let you explore as much as you would like. It sort of forces you where it wants you to go. I would have liked it if I could have explored the house more and picked up the pieces of the puzzle randomly. Other than that, this is a great game and I would reccomend it for anybody.

Summary: Enjoyable
Review: Just wanted to say that I've been playing the game for a while now and I'm really enjoying it. I've read other reviews that bash the game for not having multiplayer, but the single-player experience is quite enjoyable. I don't really have much to add other than I disagree slightly with the Amazon.com review in that I haven't found the load times to be excessive. The level loads occur somewhat frequently and in places where you're not expecting them, but the load times themselves are not excessive...

Summary: Experience the horror!!
Review: Have you ever want to watch a scary movie? Well, how would you like to be in one. UNDYING is a game that will make you freak out in your own bedroom. You'll start to hear things even after turning off your PC. When you watch a movie, it would be much more interesting if you were in the story. Clive Barker knows that for people to see his world this is the best way to not only show it but experience it. You'll roam this huge mansion with creepy rooms, stairways, pictures....

I've played alot of games but to tell you the truth, I've never played a game that makes me sit soo tight in my seat. Once you start playing, you'll wish your computer doesn't have a sound card.

So buy it, and trust me, you'll enjoy the hell out of it.

Summary: Best, most disturbing game since HALF-LIFE
Review: My favorite PC game of all time is HALF-LIFE. At the risk of sounding like a nutcase, HALF-LIFE actually disturbed my sleep paterns, it caused me violent nightmares and ate up any free time I had for the time it took for me to complete (the only FPS I have ever beaten without cheating, I might add). Since then, I have been waiting for HL2 which is inevitable.

Enter UNDYING. As a huge Clive Barker fan - both his books and his painting - I was excited to hear that he was involved with a video game and nervous that it would end up like Stephen King's 13 - talk about horror! I knew very little about the game but the previews were encouraging.

As soon as I loaded it I knew I was in for less sleep, mouse induced wrist cramps and general VGFS (Video Game Fatigue Syndrome).

Visually: Amazing. The environments I have seen so far are fluid and believable. The special effects and lighting are amazing.

Sound: Even better than the graphics! The monsters scare the hell out of you, the positioning of sound add to the eeriness of the location and the soundtrack is movie-caliber.

Overall: The monsters and gameplay will make you jump out of your seat. A quiet, unassuming walk down a corridor is interrupted by a ghost or monster and it is done better than any slasher film you've ever seen. The only complaint is the fact that the tension is too often broken by loading of new areas (but this does not kill the game by any means). And the only reason I gave it 4/5 stars is because I haven't completed the game yet - I still have a life although I can see this sucking up a lot of it.

If you liked HALF-LIFE this is the perfect game. If you like Clive Barker's horror style - this is the perfect game. If you don't like being scared - buy something else.
