Summary: The scariest game ever!
Review: I've been watching horror movies while my age was still one digit and i've played resident evil and all those spooky games but this one TAKES THE CAKE! For the full experience you need to use good headphones and turn out ALL the lights. Even the second time playing through it I still literally got goosebumps hearing Elizabeth's scream and seeing ghosts appear behind me while im facing a mirror. It's horribly terrifying in the most delightful way and I can only be thankful that people with as much imagination as Clive Barker and the people who worked in this game, have enough money to be able to come out with a great game like this. The best part is that the end sets itself up for a sequel! I can't wait!

Summary: Story , Fun, Graphics: The Best 07-01!
Review: We're in the summer doldrums, not much good out there. Undying is the best action game this year, but Max & Wolfenstein are coming. Undying is not really scarrier than Half Life. Great graphics, fun to play and runs smooth. Best story yet, if you read everything. Downsides are: constant loadings, steep computer requirement, no gore filter, rather short. NOT FOR LITTLE KIDS! You can learn the ropes on easy setting, and then rock on medium difficulty. Has some replay value. Alice was good, but Undying is much better! The body count is low, relative to Unreal, Quake, Serious Sam. Part action, part FPS-you might only die every half hour or so, instead of twice a minute. No hard puzzles, no jumping, not much swimming, no rocket packs! The weapons don't suck, like Alice. I needed a walk-through to kill the 5 bosses, otherwise it would take some time to learn. Always demo before you buy...

Summary: It's OK
Review: I think that this game could be A LOT better

It isn't very scarey. It is like the old dracula all over again. And I have seen that movie.. (it ain't scarey and it is a half an hour long and it's even in black and white and it ...

It uses the Unreal Tournament Based system and that ... (the graphics aren't that good) they could have used their own system and had a much better game with better graphics

DONT GET IT!!!!!!

Summary: The Only PC Game That Made Me Jump Out of My Seat!
Review: Not a fan of the horror genre, I've never read Clive Barker's books but I have to tell you that Undying gave me the same spooky feeling I had when I was a kid watching midnight horror movies. To fans of the horror scene, Cliver Barker is considered a "master of the macabre" and I'd say that the programmers of this game couldn't have given the author a better conversion to the PC.

From the great music and sound effects that set the mood to the constantly changing murky or gloomy settings, this game has an atmosphere to it that I haven't seen with many PC games. Even the gameplay has elements of fright. An example is the (grim reaper's) scythe as a weapon and the magic ability to foresee the future that turns everyday objects into bloody projections.

It seems that not many FPS (first-person shooter) games come up with original concepts these days but Undying has managed to invent a new concept for first-person shooters. Even better, the abilities of the character are configured in a control system that makes perfect sense. If you own a mouse with a scroll and more than 2 buttons, you won't need to use the keyboard much.

If you don't enjoy FPS games, you might want to give this one a try. A demo is available on various websites that you will give you a feel for the game. I hadn't given first-person shooters much attention in the last few years but Undying renewed my interest for these types of games. Duke Nuke 'Em, Rainbow 6, The Operative, Quake - some of the first-person shooters that set precedents for the market and I'd add Clive Barker's Undying on the same list. The entire horror concept of this game deserves mention as it does one of the best jobs in PC gaming history of projecting it to the audience.

Some of the negatives include: 1) no online multiplayer mode provided, 2) the game can be completed perhaps too quickly if you don't adjust it to a difficult level, and 3) while the horror scene impresses the heck out of you at the beginning it dies down near the end of the game.

(Disclaimer - The game says that the following 16MB video cards are not suggested for this game: 3dfx Voodoo BANSHEE cards, PowerVR Neon 250 cards, S3 Savage 2000 cards, SC Savage 4 cards, SIS 300 cards)

Summary: Too scared to continue...
Review: Have you ever been so scared while reading a book or playing a game that you had to stop the game or put down the book? Ummmm, me neither...but a friend of mine told me he had to stop playing Undying because he was too scared.

A classic First Person Shooter with minimal RPG elements. There is a plot with cinema sequences, but that is ancillary to the entire experience. The stars of the game are the clawed skeletal beasts who click their way in pursuit. Sometimes, in the darkness of caves, you can't see the enemies, but you can hear them.

If you want a one of a kind experience with great action, graphics, sound and control...BUY THIS GAME.

Summary: A very scary FPS
Review: You better leave the lights on for this one kiddies. Clive barkers undying has excellent gameplay that makes you jump up on your seat, grab the mouse and scream as you curse obscenities at the foe your trying to kill. Though it does not have a very wide veriaty of weapons, the ones you get are very wicked.

Now the graphics are excellent, some of the best i have seen for a first person shooter in a while. The enemies are desighned very well to give you a extremelly scary feelind. And get some new pants ready becouse theres a lot of surprises that will scare the crud out of you.

For the story, it's slright but needs a little work. Very good ending that leaves things open for a sequal.

If you read this review i hope you use it to determin to buy the game or not so if you do, enjoy!

Summary: oh my
Review: i'll admit it, i bought this game because i looooooooove clive barker. i knew it would be worthwhile. it has been a good thing for me, but i have to say that i can only play for an hour at a time. this game scares the bejeezus out of me! the graphics are great, although i'm a little on the bloodthirsty side so i'm a bit disappointed that the critters just kind of crumple instead of being decapitated. but i am also not very far into the game, so maybe it will improve! i also have to say that i am not a serious gamer, so i use the cheats and i can't compare it to anything else because i have limited experience, but if you liked doom and alice, chances are you'll like undying as well. and unless you've a heart of stone, i wouldn't recommend playing this late at night when you are all alone!

Summary: Top notch atmospere and architecture
Review: Not since Thief and System Shock have I played a game that held me in such suspense. Beautiful architecture and atmosphere throughout. Great artwork.

The gameplay is paced well, but on numerous occasion I felt pushed by the designers. For example, I would enter a door only to find that I could not return, or once killed I would be forced to watch the animations of me being killed (some of these are pretty amusing the first few times) and level load to the beginning of an area before I could quickload the where I wanted to go. The experience was very linear.

Overall, great game.
