Rating: Summary: Dont Blink! Review: Dont blink! By the time you open your eyes the game will be over. I was so excited by this new half-life release that I placed an advance order, and I am really dissapointed. If you are familiar with the half-life series you know what to expect. Great graphics, great story line, and of course great fun. However, I think that the guys over at sierra have a lot of nerve considering the length of this game. I am not someone who sits for hours and hours playing, Nevertheless, I finished this game with in two days. If you dont care about the short ride than I suggest you spend the money. On the other hand, if you are like me, and expect to get what you pay for, than hold on to your money and get a game thats worth the money, such as Deus Ex.
Rating: Summary: Too Short Review: I have waited for thiis game for over a month. The graphics do come to my expectations. The sound is supurb. The HD pack makes the Half Life collection even better. The only problem with Blue Shift I feel is the lack of game play. For even some of the least experienced game players they could beat it withen a day.Due to its shortness. Since it includes OP For I gave it the rating of 4 stars otherwise it would have been 3.
Rating: Summary: Disappointing to say the least Review: This Half-Life spinoff is a waste of time and money. The original Half-Life, released about three years ago, was fantastic. Opposing Forces wasn't all it was cracked up to be, but it could hold its own. Especially with the boot-camp sergeant. :) Blue Shift is just plain terrible. Compared with Half-Life, the game boasts zero new weapons, zero new enemies, an unimpressive plot, and weak puzzles. Not to ruin the game for those playing it, but if you're looking forward to a showdown with a major-league boss at the end, you'll be disappointed. Even the plotline surrounding the ending is less satisfying than winning a game of "Minesweeper." Remember the bee-shooting hulks in the original Half-Life? In Blue Shift, those are the most damage-resistant creatures you'll encounter, and I don't think you'll see more than two or three of them in the whole game. Not only that, remember the armoured techno-suits you had to recharge in HL and OF? Well, you're stuck with helmets and bulletproof vests. The rechargers are useless. On the plus side, the game appears bug-free, and the graphics quality has been improved slightly with higher-polygon models. Nice, but it doesn't save the game by a long shot. Half-Life is over three years old. It was designed to run fluidly on a P-200 with a Voodoo1 card. End the lame add-ons, and impress us with an all-new Half Life 2.
Rating: Summary: HL Blue Shift - In the dark. Review: Blue Shift doesn't do justice to the HL series. There's nothing new in weaponry or enemies, and there's only a limited selection of weapons overall. There are a few clever things done in the game (I won't spoil it for those of you who still plan on buying), but nothing to compare with HL or OP4. By far the thing that bugged me the most is that I had to use my flashlight for almost the entire game. I'm not kidding. Almost every part of the game was dark and drab. It was very disappointing. The game wasn't very long, either. Definitely shorter than OP4. On the flip side, the game does give you a peak into Black Mesa again. Plus, the HD pack that comes with it does give certain enemies/items a new look that's kinda cool. On the whole, I was disappointed.
Rating: Summary: Half of Half-Life Review: This game is very disappointingly short...there is no excuse to charge $30 for a game I can finish in a night. On the other hand, it's Half-Life and the game was fun to play. Wait for this one to drop in price.
Rating: Summary: Blue Shift....Orginally filler for the Dreamcast release.. Review: People, you must realize something. Blue Shift was originally intended to be nothing more than a FILLER EPISODE for the Dreamcast version of Half-Life. Thats all. When they recieved a substantial amount of feedback, they decided to release Blue-Shift on the PC. Since it originally was just filler, they had alot of work to do to make it equal to a retail expansion. In response to the comment that Valv should work harder next time..they worked pretty hard on this one, actually. They beefed it up from what it originally was.
Rating: Summary: Good but Half-Life is better Review: When i bought Blue Shift i was really happy. I installed and began to play. The game was really good except for the fact that it's 1/4 the length of half life and you hardly get any contact with other people besides the army. I would recomend that you buy this game but if you don't own the original Half life buy that first.
Rating: Summary: Fun as hell, but... Review: This game was great and kept me interested the whole....2 hours that it took for me to beat it. It was really awsome, but really short. But the fact that it's standalone and comes with op4 helped alot.
Rating: Summary: Blue Shift Review: This game is great, telling from what I see. Either though it is pretty short, it is still fun to run around a couple times killing the scientists for no apparent reason. It adds better graphics and adds DOUBLE the amount of polys. Another thing to do is skip the tram ride and type SV_CHEATS 1 in console then write /noclip in the console. You can go out of the tram and find a lunch area...
Rating: Summary: More Half-Life w/ a shiny new polish Review: Half-Life blueshift, first of all i would like to say that yes, it is more half life fun w/ new gaming experiances. With the HD pack the game looks great. But, there are some things that i was dissapointed in this. First of all, its much to easy, and its incredible short. It took less than 5 hours to beat this.(one night). Is it worth paying around 30? no. I suggest if your a big half-life fan buy it now, unless you can wait for the price to come down at least 10$$. I hope this helped u
