Rating: Summary: Great game! Watch Out For Replay Value! Review: Mafia is going to be the best third person action game of the year, but may anyone tell me why no one is talking about the replay value in this game?! Sure, the graphics are way cool, and the game gives you a lot of freedom to explore and do what ever the heck u want, but u also need to remember the replay value. Especially in Action/Adventure 3rd person games is it important to have a good replay value. We experienced this problem with many games like max payne. What happened in max payne? It had terrible replay value! It had three difficulty levels were it was just harder! Since the game was short, the replay value was terrible! Mafia looks not much longer than max payne, so we have to reconsider how many difficulty levels there will be in the game, and how many different twists there will be. Hopefully, the game progresses differently depending on the paths you take. This is very likely to happen, considering the great freedoms the game gives you.Although, if you are a FREQUENT gamer, like me, you may not appreciate the different twists and tangles (that the the game MIGHT give you) because even if there are different difficulty levels and different paths to take, it is likely that a gamer will not notice these features, and gamers may not also want to spend the time searching for the other paths (if there even are some). That is why I am giving you the fair warning. You may want to pick up a PC gamer magezine with a review of Mafia when it comes out, or you may just want to wait until people that have experienced the game review it, because you shouldn't pre order the game until you know the facts, and not the rumors or the fiction that may come from TalonSoft. Besides the game having a likely chance of having little to no replay vaule, there are other INCREDIBLE strong points to the game. 1. The game gives you unlimited freedom to explore and do what you please. 2. The graphics are great 3. The story line is intense, and the story gets added to before every level, for there is a short, one-minute cinnematic before each one. 4. The game gives you many weapon choices like a tommy gun, knife, 9mm pistol, pump-action shotgun, etc. 5. THERE IS MULTIPLAYER!!! I'm out now, and I hope this review helps, PEACE
Rating: Summary: GTA3 Take off? Review: Is this game a take off of Grand Theft Auto 3? It could be, but it still will be soooo much fun. It will satsify until GTA3 comes out for the Computer sometime in April. Cant wait til mafia comes out
Rating: Summary: back to basic's Review: I am so sick and tired of running around shooting and dying in multi - play games. If i use strategy in a multigame i wanna kill on the first bullet or second. I am excited about this game , Due to the fact that I get to be in charge of the enviroment. I wanna be able to smash a car up or walk the streets. I will be dissapointed if it takes 40,000 bullets to kill an op-ponent

Rating: Summary: All my life I wanted to be the soldier and not the commander Review: Well in this game you are the soldier. You are the one thats on the streets taking the orders. You are the one shooting at the targets. You can go whatever/do whatever you want in this game without interference. You can hit someone in the face, shoot up a whole street, take a subway, or hijack a car. Anything is possible in this game. That is why I give it 5 stars.
Rating: Summary: grab the tommy gun and get on your way Review: Mafia, like the title hints at just a little bit, is about the seedier side of society. In this particular romp into the crimeworld, you will take control of a grunt in the mafia around the 30's. The game is set in a city that is a mixture of Chicago and New York called Lost Heaven. You will need to rise from your stature as lowly foot soldier into a feared made man. You will play through 20 missions where you will need to perform tasks that Don Salieri asks you to complete. During these missions you will be able to drive over 60 specific cars from the 30s and weapons like the infamous Tommy gun. The game is currently under construction, but should be released some time in November '00.
Rating: Summary: Worth more than you may pay for it! Review: I have almost completed Mafia and I must say that it is a great game. It installed easily and I have had no problems running it on the highest resolution with my old pent3 machine (with an upgraded gforce4 video card). I must say that the voice acting is superb. Very few games do I actually sit through the cut scenes but with this game I have watched and totally enjoyed every one. The imersion factor is good and the city is huge and well layed out. The missions are challenging but I have yet to become overly frustrated trying to make it through a level. A few of the other reviews mention that the driving aspect is difficult and many have problems with the race track level. I had a old MS racing wheel left from a racing game I used to play and it interfaced with the game perfectly. This game IS designed for the use joystick or wheel and once you hook one up the driving becomes easy and quite enjoyable. The developers put quite a bit of research into the various vehicles and it shows. (Also keep in mind when your driving your using 1930s tire technology:) The other big complaint I hear is the lack of quicksaves. This was not a problem for me, and in fact it actually helped extend the playing time and enjoyment of the game. You just have to restart the level and better plan your moves each time. The first time thru you get the thrill of not knowing what will be coming at you and where it will come from. If you die then you have to better plan your attack the next attempt. Eventually you get things down to clockwork and you can whiz right through it. It was like solving puzzles where the puzzle pieces were shooting at you. Quite fun. (I even replayed a few levels I went through the first time just to see if I could do them better than I did the first time around. And... after you finish the single player game you still have the free ride modes to add to the replayability of this gem. Overall I think this is one of the better games I have ever played and for the price you can not find a better value. -Buzzz
Rating: Summary: An offer you can't refuse Review: So you would like to experience being a gangster in the 1920's and 30's, look no further! Totally immersive, beautiful graphics, great story and hours and hours of fun. At this price, there is no excuse not to buy this game.
Rating: Summary: This game is totally awesome, but a little glitchy Review: Overall this game is so much fun, especially for the price
Pro: The graphics are decent
The map is huge, and lots of fun to explore
Most driving missions give you plenty of time
The weapons are a nice variety, from knives to shotguns to molotov cocktails
The missions are difficult but not impossible, and even though there are only 20 actual missions there are several parts to each. Plus, there are many sub-quests which can only be unlocked after beating the game.
Can you really beat the price?
Con: It runs blocky even on my computer (2.8 GHz P4, 512 MB RAM, 128 MB graphics card)
Note: Cheats for this game are basically nonexistent (if thats your thing)
