Summary: The Return of the Jedi ...to PC gaming
Review: The team at Rave/Lucasarts announced the week before last that the game had gone gold, simultaneously releasing a new trailer to show off their baby. While one would expect developers to try and hide their weak points in such an exhibition, there was no sign in the trailers (there was a teaser released a few weeks back) that JK2 will be anything but the best SW game since, well, JK.
The main reason these games (the Dark Forces series) are so good is not the fact that they are Star-Wars tie-ins. It's not that they have incredible level design and inventive puzzles. It's not even the giddiness of running amok as a Demigod of Death that all good fps games inspire. The reason Kyle Katarn rocks is the same thing that made He-Man really unique (besides for the fur briefs). It's that he's a gun-toting mage. Very few works of fiction can manage to mix magic and technology like Star Wars did with the Force. In no other game I've seen can you use your magics to steal an opponent's weapon and then nail the confused mother with your BFG. The techno-mysticism and complex strategies that come with a force-powered fps are what makes a 1997 game like the first JK(it didn't even have bots) popular on the zone still in 2002. Here's to another 5 years of lightsaber aenemas!

Review: I just wanna let all you peeps out there that this is a great game. SP and MP. SP has some of the best level architecture of any game i've ever seen. MP has mods coming out for it and one is comin out very soon which i am waiting for that is called jk team battle. It has graphics that almost rival cstrike's graphics. All in all, jk is one of my fav games of all time, my fav being cstrike.(no hard feelings jk). so get it... NOW!...

Summary: The next big thing
Review: Take a trip back to 1997. Yes, that was many years ago but during that time we were graced with games like Quake 2 and the original Quake taking over the online world with its online Quakeworld feature. Sure those games were fun to play online, but there was one game that stood out from the crowd: Jedi Knight.

Even though JK wasn't as popular online as the Quake or Unreal series, its 21 level single player gameplay was and still is revolutionary. Like in Jedi Knight 2, you took control of Kyle Katarn on his quest to find and defeat 7 Dark Jedi and basically help save the world on a quest to avenge your father's death.

With the original story already explained (if you dont have JK, buy it as well) this one looks to be shaping up to be even bigger than the original. Powered by the Quake III Team Arena engine, developers Raven Software and Lucasarts have crafted up an EXTREMLY slick game.

Take a look at the screenshots and trailers at fansites like http://www.jediknightii.net and you will know what I mean. Best of all, since it has a Quake III engine, online play is guaranteed a low lag, fun experience. Oh and don't forget.. Raven Software as one of the best companies in the world, you are guaranteed nothing less than high quality. Highly recommended game for all ages and fans of the movies.

Summary: JK2
Review: Anyone who is anyone will know that Jedi Knight II was an awesome game.
You would also know that Raven perhaps created the only good Star Trek game (Elite Force).

With all the newly recently released Star Wars games being..., Raven will be our rescue and plunge back the Star Wars games to the top!

I suggest pre-ordering this now so that you don't rush to the stores when it comes out.

P.S. I'm not 12, I simply didn't want to sign up.

Summary: this game will rule!
Review: ok.. this is who criticized Jedi Knight 2. Your points are valid yes but not when it comes to JK2. The reason for all that was in due fault to the Lucas Arts development team NOT Raven Software. If you don't like JK for the story etc that's a different point and a better case for not buying it. But don't try to prove your point based on a game that was released 4 years ago and developed by a different company. Raven has always put out great games from Hexen 2 to Heretic 2 to Soldier of Fortune to Voyager which is why Lucas asked these guys. Im done :)

Summary: Jedi Knight II - Jedi Outcast
Review: Jedi Knight II will be a great release this year. The first two games Dark Forces and Jedi Knight were superb, I loved both of them. It is created on the Quake III Arena engine and that is a very good choice. I cant wait to see how the light saber will look on the Q3A engine. It is desinged by Raven Software, They are very good desingers in action games. I loved every action game by Raven software from Heretic to Soldier of Fortune. I am sure JK2 will be a great star wars game.

Review: You have the magazine with the review, that automatically makes you an authority on games? Sure, the Quake III engine is far from perfect, but when did games become only about the graphics? It's all about story, characters and GAMEPLAY!!! Graphics are secondary, they should only be used to enhance gameplay.

I, for one am looking forward to the release of Jedi Outcast. I hope it's as good as Jedi Knight. If it is, we've got another hit on our hands.

Summary: save the hype for a game you've actually played
Review: ...Update - post release: still haven't gotten the game, but did grab the CGW demo disc. Before you buy this game, make sure your graphics card is supported. RavenSoft/LucasArts offer no support for Permedia, Rage, S3 or 3DFx. I ran "Elite Force" on my computer with little technical difficulty, but can't get JK2 to run at all. Unless your card is based on the Radeon or any of the newer GeForce chipsets, you must check either the LA or RS website to make sure your card will be supported - or you'll likely get nothing more than I did: "Open GL error".
