Summary: Best Game of 2002!!!
Review: I've been watching this game for nearly 1 year and when I got it I fell in love. The graphics are good and the gameplay is too.

the good: Great graphics, gameplay and story. Deep fan base. And Huge Multiplayer Comunity!
The Bad: Poor movies, and long loading times. Multiplayer is only good with a cabel modem. But thats it!!:)

Kyle (the main character) has so many different moves with his lightsaber that it makes you feel almost like your in a movie! I can't overrate this game. I HIGHLY RECOMEND IT!!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Best FPS ever, and you wait till u get the lightsaber
Review: This game is certainly worth being called a work of art from the word go. The game totally immerses you in the Star Wars universe with you blasting storm troopers and deflecting laser blasts with your trust lightsaber to the sound of John Williams fantastic music.
The game follows you as Kyle Katarn made famous from the last Jedi Knight game, and you traverse an intricate story line where every level is unique and every goal and objective for once has an understandable reason for achieving it.
People have wrote reviews saying that the first few levels are boring and the same as any another FPS, clearly these people have never had the erg to blow away three storm troopers with a thermal detonator. Besides, the first five levels are very well designed and set the story for the rest of the game. I'm not going to give the story away but take my word for it, it's not some glued together clone of any star wars film seen so far, it's totally new, and written and endorsed by Lucas Arts so trust me you must own this game.
And don't be put off by the first few levels, though I loved the storm trooper blasting and puzzle solving around the outpost, but some may think it's a bit done before, keep on going, you wait till you get the lightsaber.
Speaking of which, when I was reading reviews I was so annoyed that nobody ever actually said what the lightsaber fighting is like, well:
The basics are that you have three stances to choose from; each stance makes a difference to the style, power and speed of combat. I choose usually the yellow one, but they're all good in their own way.
By the way, if you are going, or have got the game, download the patch from the net, there are a couple of bugs that you should be saved from before playing. Such as the multi-player lightsaber fighting just isn't as good as single-player even against the bots, so they changed it in the patch and now it's just as silky.
Anyway, you control the lightsaber by moving the character in one of the eight directions possible, this may seem a but - 'typical of an FPS to use such a dated idea' but don't judge it till you've tried it. It does take a lot of practice to achieve good moves, and a lot of timing is involved to get the swipe to hit the enemy at the right moment and to then roll out of the way to avoid being hit yourself.
With the patch installed and fighting against the bots you get far more close up combat and a lot more lightsaber locks where you have to tap franticly to break out of.
It's well designed and looks great with no limits apart from the number of moves possible, but even then personal combinations come into play and if your in a spot of trouble just back flip onto a gantry and find some health. Of course that works in the multi-player game, fighting against Darth Vader may seem a little harder to get away from.
So all in all the single player game is a fantastic adventure to enjoy an you will want to play it again once completed.
There are 24 large and well created levels, that are all unique and do not share similar designs so you won't get the classic FPS thing going where the story states you are on another planet yet the walls look remarkably similar, 'wait a minute isn't that control panel exactly the same as the on in the base, what's it doing in this mine?' - you don't get that with this game at all, each level truly is unique.
That's the single player, which really is the selling point of the game, but Raven didn't cut any costs on the multi-player mode either. Personally I don't play on-line because of the lag, and on this game you will get a lot of it, but I love playing against bots and with bots in capture the flag and team games.
The bots have 5 different skill levels for you to find your sweet spot, and many customisation features. You can choose how much force the players have, and you never know who masters in what field in the force, which will surprise you when you think you're winning the fight and you think the bot is about dead, but then force pushes you down the thousand foot drop to the streets below. Of course if you want some fair fighting you can turn force powers off, and even have lightsabers only if that's your thing. And if you want some one on one lightsaber duelling use duel mode, which can keep you busy for along time. Again if you have the patch, you'll have four more duel rooms to choose from on top of the four already there.
YOU MUST GET THE PATCH!
So with loads of levels and options you'll find yourself pressing the multi-player option on the consol screen just as often as the single player mode even if you don't have a link to the internet for gaming.
A quick end, the graphics are excellent, with max graphics which will require an easy 800Mhz processor and 256MB RAM, you can enjoy the great rendering of the storm troopers which look just like in the films with no jagged edges at all. Of course don't be put off, you can run the game on 500Mhz and 128MB Ram with medium settings and still get excellent frame rate, the game runs well.
All in all both modes are fantastic, and this game should go down in history as one of the best amongst Op Flashpoint, and Black & White.

Summary: High Highs and Low Lows
Review: This game had the potential to be the best game I have ever
played except for the bugs. I recently downloaded the online
update and it solved nothing.

Raves :
The light saber and force powers are SO MUCH FUN
The graphics are beautiful... and
the stormtroopers are just like in the movie.
Some of the levels are HUGE and the 3d layouts are perfect.
The game is fairly engrossing and old favorites from the
movies make cameos. You feel like a Jedi.
The bosses (although there are not enough of them) are really fun.

Rants : (don't read if you don't want level spoilers)
My biggest rant is I have to quit the game entirely to load
a saved game without the load hanging. WHAT A PAIN!!! I have
pretty standard hardware 3dfx,aureal, AMD/ Tyan. I get a nice
3dfx splash screen when I start (which I have to wait through
each and every time I die).

Other bugs include geting thrown out of the game when a sound
handle is out of range. For petes sake, just don't play the
sound. Fault tolerant, guys. On occaison the game goes into
super slow mode and I have to restart.

Some of the puzzles/searches are TOO DIFFICULT.
1) when you are supposed to turn out the lights and run
across to a door, the lights turn back on and won't turn
off again if you load a saved game rendering you completely
stuck having to fall back to previous saves. Once you get
the lights out, this part is TOO HARD.

2) Once establishing that your light saber cannot break windows
they change this rule wasting hours of my time searching the huge
level for an exit. Speaking of the huge levels, they should do
a better job of blocking your path back when there is no reason
to go backwards in the game (which there sometimes is).

3) at the training grounds I tried many times to cut the ropes
with my saber, it didn't work. I downloaded a walkthrough and
finally got through it by being persistent. This is often a
problem. If you try to break/cut something and you happen to
pick the wrong weapon, you get stuck. In this case I had the
right weapon and it didn't work.

4) This is getting long, but if you got through the swamp without
a walkthrough you have earned my respect. That little search is
a JOKE. What could they possibly want to do except waste our
time with something that hard.

Summary: Cool but has been done before
Review: My brother and I recently bought this game and beat within only a matter of days. It's cool side is that you have greater sabre ability (Ex: throwing), the force powers are much more useful. I'm sure that most game fans will love this one. On the other hand though, I'm just becoming tired of first-person shooter games. Also I think that some of the designs and the story line for this game are really weak. Desan is a geek. His minions are geeks. The character designs as well as the story line look like they were concieved with in a day or two. Instead of a fresh idea, they just regurgatate the Valley of the Jedi plot from the last game. Then again, maybe I'm just completely gamed out...

Summary: Very good game
Review: I am an avide player of JK1 (Dark Forces 2) and I am also in a clan on the zone which we have spread to JO (Jedi Outcast) and the saber movements on JO are astounding I love them, also the force powers are great.

Summary: Great Game! Super Addictive!
Review: I just got this game! The Graphics are pretty good. They aren't Max Payne level of Graphics, but they are certainly better than Quake3 which is the graphics engine this game uses. The Developers definitely took great advantage of the Quake3 engine with this game!

The Game play is fun with plenty of action. The E11 blaster is not very accurate, but adds to the challenge, becuase the storm troopers' are really stupid! They are smart enough to try and surround you but too stupid to react to you shooting them until they see you! lol! No wonder Luke Skywalker and Han Solo always made mince meat of them! They're bumble heads! The other game enemies however do put up a better challenge. Thankfully it seems that their weapons aren't much more accurate than yours!

The secret area's aren't to hard to find but if you rush through a level you'll miss them. It makes for a good balance..not impossible to find them if you take your time, but it keeps the replay value high! And you'll need the replay value, if you are like me and die a lot and always forget to save! I haven't even gotten my Light Saber yet, but I'm still addicted! I can't wait for the light Saber!

The sound is excellent as well. The soundtrack is straight from the films, and all the weopons and characters sound just how they should! The Sound completely makes you feel like your in a star wars movie!

Go Buy this game, you won't regret it! If you love star wars, this is a must buy. If you don't love star wars, but love a great first person shooter with an actual storyline! Go get this game! The Single Player game is completely fun and addictive! I haven't even played this online yet! I'm so addicted to the single player part right now, I haven't even tried the multiplayer, and I have broadband and play Unreal, Quake3, and Counter Strike all the time. Infact this game has caused me to go a week with out any Counter Strike! That's a new record for me! GET THIS GAME!

Summary: Don't worry!
Review: Contradictory to what other complainers say, this game runs fine on my crummy computer. I have not updated my computer in 3 years, and I still get 35 frames per second! I have only 300 Mhz!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Good and fun most of the time but not great.
Review: With out a doubt this is the most fun and immersive FPS since Half-Life. While that might sound ground-breaking, it isn't. It feels more like 80% of what it might have been, and that would have made it an instant classic.

Most of the action is a blast. A favorite part of mine was later in the game you enter an open courtyard in Cloud City. With out warning a pair of Dark Jedi attack. The following battle is a frenzy of crackling lightsabers and clashing Force powers. Yet moments like this take time getting there.
For the first few missions you wonder around looking for the right button to hit while fighting a seemingly infinite army of Stormtroopers. It is strange that a game still makes button flipping a major game play aspect. Nor is your destination always clear, some levels are a maze at times. On top of that you do a lot of jumping. A lot, after awhile it reminded me of Frogger. It is here that the flaws of the game are the most obvious. The AI is not stupid but not clever either. Some of the graphics are very good, like the character models, lighting, shadows and weapon effects. However much of the textures are lower resolution and bland. There is only a sky box, no sky effects making the outdoor areas life-less. Oddly absent is the detailed mapping that the Quake3 engine is known for. Yet once you are strong with the force it is a blast-a-second to throw Stormtroopers off a cliff, choke Imperial Officers to death and cut down Dark Jedi. It never gets old to fry, blast, blow up and vaporize hordes of bad guys right out of the movies.

I was surprised to find an interesting plot in the game. In a nutshell it is another attempt by a crazy Dark Jedi and an Imperial faction to overthrow the Republic. However there were some plot points that I did not expect and made it worth following along. More than that the voice acting was better than most computer games. It was entertaining to listen to the dialog as each charactor hade a perfectly matching voice.

While the voice acting was well done, the music needed some polishing. The classic Star Wars score is over used. It is used in every single Star Wars game to date, would it hurt to come up with something new?

The single player is entertaining but I found the mutiplayer to be less thrilling. Some will find it awsome, but in games with out force powers or limited power it boils down to the same old run'n gun. A little less conformity and more innovation would have made it worth while in my opinion. MP is also played out on the MSN Zone, also in my opinion a hassel.

Over all it is still the best Star Wars game to come out since the previous Jedi Knight. It is a cool game and one of the best to come in a while. Yet the uninspired MP and sometimes irritating level design weaken what could have been amazing game.

Summary: (Insert corny Star Wars pun here)
Review: My firend bought this game two weeks ago. As his computer was in the shop for upgrades, he came over to my place to use my computer.
We chose to put the game on my laptop because my sister was on the desktop at the time.
What we installed on my laptop was a really, really top-notch Star Wars game that completely lives up to previous titles.
The graphics are smooth and stable (even on my 16mb Mobile Radeon pushed through a P3 866, 256mb RAM), including cut scenes. Sound is very good and conveys the magic of the Star Wars universe perfectly (Lucas Arts got the swooshing sound of the light saber and the chatter between Storm Troopers dead accurate.)
Gameplay does a good job of combining shooting with solving puzzles and trying not to get yourself killed. Game design is downright genious at times. The solution to a puzzle can be right smack in front of my face, and I won't see it. I'll take 1/2 an hour to find it, and when I do, that "D'oh!" feeling of discovery is GREAT.

So far (I have yet to actually finish the game- I've been working on American McGee's Alice) the story line is pretty good, although further explination of some plot themes for the people (like me) who never saw the kiddy fest that was Star Wars: Episode I would be nice.
My two chief complaints are (as with a LOT of ames) there's no SKIP button for the FMV sequences, ( <---- NOTE TO DEVELOPERS READING REVIEWS OF THEIR NEW PRODUCT- THIS IS A REALLY GOOD IDEA. PLEASE USE IT IN THE FUTURE!) and the long-ish load times.
All in all, this a great game, faithful to the series.

I don't know how they did it, but Amazon.com's got this game for a lot less than you'll find if for at brick-and-mortar stores, so I strongly suggest you buy from them.
