Rating: Summary: The NOLF Franchise Has Died In The Second Act Review: A huge disappointment. NOLF 1 is one of my favorite video games of all time. Possibly the greatest marriage of story & interface in a title ever. I can't believe people can hold this sequel up to the original and think it even remotely compares. The graphics & AI are better. I'll give them that.Gone is the interesting storyline, clever, lol dialog, witty interface and 1960's zeitgeist. What we have in NOLF 2 is a a better looking game with jokes that don't work, levels that are either frustratingly difficult (ninjas/tornado level), monotonous or too easy. Don't get me started on the lack of character development. Or even intros. That would be nice for people who never played NOLF 1. Shoddy marketing. I know it's difficult not to follow-the-James-Bond-leader when you do a spy project, but at least TRY to be a little creative. Don't waste your hard earned money on this blatant excercise in corporate digital greed & lack of artistry. So disappointing. I'm going to take my chances on Contract J.A.C.K..
Rating: Summary: In Response to the bad reviews I've read. Review: Having played the 1st game (with which I was very satisfied) of the series I wanted to explore this one and logged in the amazon site and started reading the reviews. i gotta tell you the truth they set me off from buying the game, from too short to nothing like the first one to not to much change from the 1st game. but when a friend of mine bought the game i had a chance to borrow it and play the game. now i can say without any doubts that this is a great game. i dont know the reason for the bad reviews, but if you have the right video card this game is as realistic as it gets. it is not a short game at all. so many missions i couldnt even count them but i'm sure you can find that out at any cheat site. lastly i just want to say that this is a great game, and at the current price (especially the used ones) is a great buy that i would recommned to any game enthusiast. You will not be dissapointed.
Rating: Summary: If you've played NOLF1, stay away from this Review: I recently finished the original NOLF and was very impressed with it. I read good reviews of NOLF2 (here, among other places) which seemed to imply it was more of and better than NOLF, and decided to purchase it. I was in for some serious disappointment. The game is very much a case of one step forward, five steps back. While the graphics of the game have certainly been improved, the gameplay and story are very poor compared to NOLF. The story is simply not as rich as the original game. There is very little background on the characters. In the original game, I came to empathize with some of the main villains. Nothing like that here. Further, the subtle wittiness of the original game has been discarded for a sledgehammer, in-your-face attempt at humor that I found very jarring. Finally, there was the indefinable "atmosphere" of the original story that I felt was missing in this one. As for the gameplay mechanics, the skill system was a good innovation. It provides an additional incentive to find solutions to puzzles. Of course, since the game is linear, there is really no way *not* to get the skill points either. However, in contrast to this is the level design. Several levels in this game have respawning, infinitely many enemies. This makes them extremely annoying and very long to play. On the whole, I can only characterize the levels as "less annoying", "moderately annoying" and "extremely annoying". This does not make for a fun game. In conclusion, I did not like this game. I should repeat here that I played the original NOLF before this game, and my view of this game is colored by that experience. I was expecting this game to be better than NOLF, but it was not. If you've played NOLF and are thinking of buying this game, my advice is: don't. On the other hand, if you've not played the original NOLF, I'd strongly recommend that you buy that game instead of this one.
Rating: Summary: never played it!!! Review: i gave this game 1 star cause i have not played it yet
Rating: Summary: Great Single-Player, Mediocre Multi-Player Gameplay Review: Features: Unlike games such as the extremely popular and successful Half-Life: Counter-Strike, NOLF 2 has single-player gameplay AND multi-player gameplay included. Single-player requires absolutely NO internet connection requirements and is great for those who have any type of internet service less than DSL or those who like to play RPG games. Going on the missions and sneaking around is truly fun and gets you really into the game. Although there are only so many missions and chapters, making it seem short, it is thoroughly enjoyable. You may finish all the missions in one or two days; it is possible to, but that is where the difficulty levels and multi-player feature comes in. There are about 4 difficulty levels I think. The multi-player feature requires a decent internet connection (DSL or higher). There are different types of games you can play with other people. I think the most popular one is Doomsday, which is just like cS except no bomb. Instead it's stealing parts from the other team to put together the Doomsday device. When one of the teams finish putting together the Doomsday device, they win and a new map comes in play. Comments: The graphics are AMAZING. The single-player game may be short but is truly enjoyable to me. The multi-player game is okay. Aiming is hard and it takes forever to kill someone, which is frustrating. An upside to the multi-player game is that unlike cS, you can be revived faster since there are no such things as rounds, just different maps. Another downside to the whole game (including single-player and multi-player) is that it takes about 30 seconds to load, which is really long, no matter how fast your comptuer is. A good thing about the multi-player game is that you can pick up several weapons and be able to carry them all at one time instead of just having one primary weapon, one secondary weapon, and a few nades like in cS. The reason why I gave this game 4 stars is because the single-player portion is enjoyable, the graphics are GREAT, and everything else that I mentioned was a good thing about this game. You decide if it's worth buying or not.
Rating: Summary: highly underrated Review: great game, funny, witty, enticing plot that pulls you in. This game requires you to think, not just shoot. Like a good novel or movie, you'll certainly be entertained. it's awesome, you won't regret it.
Rating: Summary: Female James Bond-style adventure Review: This is a well-balanced fun action-adventure game. I love it! I wish they would make a James Bond game this fun. Goldeneye007 for the Nintendo64 is a bit like this one. I absolutely cannot get enough of either this game or that one. If you enjoy spy adventures, or even just 3d shooters, I would reccomend this. The only negative part is the LOAD screens. Those really suck.
Rating: Summary: Unstable and boring... Review: I know there are a lot of NOLF fans out there but I didn't play NOLF 1, so I had no extreme expectations of this game. My computer is waaay beyond the recommended configuration, yet load times are about 20-30 seconds (which is unacceptable). I admit, graphics and sound are excellent but that's about it: the story is barely ok (with stupid story elements which are sometimes referred as "funny" - I think they sucked at best, some of them are downright offending (I'm not Russian but I know quite a few, I felt offended because of the idiotic jokes)). Missions are sooo boring, it's unbelievable (most missions are like "kill everyone, get key, open door"). Some levels are very tough and the randomly respawning enemies really pissed me off. One *VERY* frustrating thing was that this game is the only one to date (and to my knowledge) that crashes Windows XP so that you have to reboot it. Just this alone should mean the end of Sierra. If you're a hardcore NOLF fan, you might like this thing but I give 1 star out of 5, only for the nice graphics. I'll probably never buy a Sierra product again and certainly hope that they go out of business.
Rating: Summary: Best FPS ever Bar none. Review: Buy it ! You will not be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: Great! Review: Looks and plays better than the first NOLF. The Jupiter engine is quite a step above the Lithtech engine. I have very few complaints about this one. The sense of humor isn't quite what it was in the first NOLF (but as with the first NOLF, long as you weren't trigger happy, you'll be listening in on some very funny dialog between various bad guys). It took a little getting used to the different voice actors (was it that hard to get the original voice actors to reprise their roles?). Another technical flaw that I couldn't understand was the reloading sequences of the guns. Reloading a totally empty gun doesn't require the pulling back of a cocking handle (this was correctly done in the first NOLF however). Although you can improve Cate's reloading time (part of the skill based sytem, which is something I like in the game), the only way you can avoid pulling a cocking handle is when a round is already in the chamber! If that's what the prgrammers intended, they made another mistake of undercounting the total number of bullets loaded in the gun by one (this is an unfortunately universal mistake in games).
