Rating: Summary: doesn't live upto the standard Review: Graphic's were ok.Didn't like how they changed the keystrokes nor the fact that you have to shoot another mech 200 times to kill them..Shoot a leg off & it's still there..What gives with that?Another bothersome thing about this game are all those video's you can't bypass..On all the rest of the games just hit esc & the video stop's & you can enter into battle. But not on this game. You must endure all the [game] video's.I've played all the Mechwarrior games & this is as disapointing as Heavy Gear was.Even was a member of Clan Wolf on the old Mplayer.com mech2 online gaming site.I'm just hoping Mech4 Mercs won't be like this one is. It's too bad I can't play my Mech2 & Mech2 merc's anymore due to my O/S..It just won't play DOS based games.
Rating: Summary: GOOD GAME!!!!!!!!! Review: dude this game is very "HOT" very good graphic
Rating: Summary: Have any of you played Mechwarrior2: Mercenaries Review: I was stunned by this game. Way back in 1996, mechwarrior2 addicted me to the battlemech universe. I played the game over and over for 4 years and it kept getting better as I upgraded my computer. Eventually after running it on my old amd k7 500 mx with 196mb ram and a geforce2 32mb card I was extremely impressed. The game had transitioned for an okay game with average graphics and great gameplay to one with outstanding graphics and great gameplay. So I assumed that Mechwarrior 4 would follow in those footsteps, despite the different companies which designed the game. I loaded mechwarrior 4 onto my brand spankin new AMD 2200+ XP with 256mb pc2100 ram, 266fsb and my old trustworth geforce 2 32mb video card and became depressed. The graphics are horrible, on the level with the old xwing star wars games, I also couldn't even get past the first training mission without encountering mysterious errors like my mech running in circles despite my control input (and no it wasn't due to an uncalibrated joystick, i tried keyboard only). Although the cinematics are great looking, much better than mechwarrior 2 they are just that cinematics, not the actual game. Microsoft needs to go learn some serious lessons about graphics from activision. I view this game as a complete waste of money, I wanted something that was familiar but new enough to challenge my new system, the game might have interesting gameplay but I don't want to waste my time on a game with asethetics that were available to me 6 years ago and with 1/6th the computing power. Shame on microsoft.
Rating: Summary: ~Multiplayer is AMAZING~ Review: I have never been more addicted to any computer game. The single player game is fun and challenging, full of surprises, nice cinematics, and has an engaging plot. The REAL FUN starts after you beat the game, and touting the courage of a champion, you step into the multiplayer world of Mechwarrior4. There is a whole culture to learn, where players form and join "Clans" to create well organized and cooperative teams. The multiplayer game has many different game types. There are adrenaline pumping team games with up to 16 players on a map, violent and fast free for alls, capture the flag, and more. I have been playing mechwarrior online every day for about 9 months and I'm not sick of it yet. Not even close. I loved Mechwarrior2 Mercenaries for its awesome gameplay. Mechwarrior4 has even better gameplay and graphics that will spoil you rotten (have a fast computer and a 64 MB RAM video card). If you like mechanized combat simulations, real time strategy, and first person shooters, this is the game for you.~Animus™ of the infamous Clan Venomous
Rating: Summary: An amazing robot game! Review: I have been a collector of 'mech games for seven years now. I have always thought that the mech games were cool, but when I bought Mech Warrior 4 I was truly impressed. The game is not hard to learn and the controls are easier than they used to be. You are in a 40 foot, 75 ton robot called a battlemech, made for war and to eliminate the enemy. The game has different difficulty settings so if you are a bigginer you can still have a ball. Graphics: the graphics are amazing. Every once in a while you can be shooting at someone and think you are in a dream. You can take high-quality screenshots of battle too. Graphics don't get much better than this! (four 4 1/2 stars) System: the system is one of the only put-downs to the game. The game is very high quality and has not once yet crashed or frozen. The trouble is that you have to have a pretty hardy system. 300 Mhz, 64 mg RAM and it may not say you do but you need to have at least 1.1 Gb. of memory to play it good. Even more if you play multi-player because you need to download the updates. (3 stars) Plot and Gameplay: These are what divides regular games from mech warrior 4. The plot is pretty thick in this one, where you are the nephew of a duke and one of your enemies have claimed the throughn. Their power is stronger than yours and you have to build up forces and take them out mission by mission and there are plenty of them. They have a variety of missions from brainless overpower the enemy and wipe them out, to strategic methods to position your mechs to ambush the enemy, or to defend a very delicate building from a layer of attackers. This is what makes the game so fun! (5 stars) Multiplayer: This is my favorite aspect of the game. Multi player has an elaborate attendance. With updates downloaded from the internet ... you can play other people around the world. There is little lag and you can play it with just a dial-up modem. You can join groups called clans (this game is based off a series of books called Battletechs) and fight other clans with various types of games. Some ore free-for-all and team free-for-all and capture the flag and extreme strategy is required for multiplayer. (5 stars) This game is my actual favorite game and I recomend that you buy it. Remember that Mech Warrior 4 Merceneries is coming out in November so keep your eye out! God bless!
Rating: Summary: outstanding mech AI Review: Single player game doesn't keep your interest too long, but does well enough to teach you the things you need to survive in the online battlefield. And that's where the real action is at. But not all of you might have high bandwidth connection...or if you do it's giving you problems (Like mine is >:|). Do not despair, as the bots will give you more then enough challenge to keep you occupied. Set the bot skill to 9...spawn about 5 of them. Give them Assault mechs and try to survive with a light mech. Always a fun way to spend your free time.
Rating: Summary: Good... i guess Review: The action, storyline, plot, and weapons are good. Multiplayer is decent and is actually something you can get good at(unlike quake 2 where jumping around like a ping-pong ball is the only tactic). There is only one thing annoying about this game. Whenever a new sound effect plays, there is a slight pause for the first time. After that it plays smoothly until the end of the mission, so its not so bad but if there is like 8 or so mechs fighting you with different weapons it can get confusing.
Rating: Summary: if you don't have it don't buy it Review: i bought this game only to find out it won't run on my machine . and if it won't run on mine there is something really wrong .i have and amd xp 2100 1733 mhz 1 gig of pc 2700 333mhz ram a nvida geforce 4 mx 440 video card sound blaster live gamer sound card.like i said before if it won't run on this machine it won't run on anything.
Rating: Summary: MW series is still the best round (4/1/2 stars) Review: Actually, ive only played the demo of MW4--the first 2 missions. The voice acting was so-so, yes, but please. ive played games like future cop: LAPD, and SOF (at a friends house), so compared to them, this game has quite good acting. The Mech lab is revamped, in a good way, from MW2 and definately MW3. (You could do nothing in MW3 from what i could tell, but it was OK in MW2). The fact that you can only place certain weaps on certain parts SORT OF makes sense--if you're piloting a marauder you're not gonna stick an SRM pod on the arm. But you could easily put a gauss rifle there. so that may need work, but it does make sense. You're not gonna stick a PPC on the huge missile rack of a warhammer, either. The next thing i noticed was that in-game, the weapons were a LOT simpler to use. The controls were mostly that of MW2. The only caveat i found was that turning your torso just a leeeeetle to the right was difficult, as until it began to turn majorly, it ROCKETED right over, making targeting impossible. Yes, the other problem was that unlike MW2 you couldn't shoot the legs out from under a mech. Don't make much sense, but maybe thats just my targeting ability :) i bet if you actually bothered to aim, you could easily. (despite what anyone says, legs are still the best way to kill a mech). I was actually able to do some damage on my first try, but it is not an ez game. It will take many tries until you get the hang of mech strategy. and if you play FPS's where you are a non-moving shooter, you will have a very bad habit to break. Overall, the few caveats they put in just HAPPENED to be big ones. but not big enough to make me NOT buy this game as soon as i get a good computer. But as for you, the reader, you do have a good computer. Buy it. (And whilst you are at it, pester microsoft, the evil empire, to release it for the mac!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE!)
Rating: Summary: Recommended to Buy! Review: Mechwarrior 4 is one of the best looking games i have ever played. The only other game that looks this good and has a good story line is Max Payne. When the IS and Clan Mech' Paks are purchased it takes the game to new dimensions. One of the great features in this game is that the cheats come built into the options menu so you don't have to do all these fancy keystrokes just to do some thing minor. Online play is beautifully set up graphically and option wise. All in all this is a great game and any expansion pack just makes it better.
