Rating: Summary: the most awesome, yet graphic game ever Review:
My opinion on this game is that it is GREAT!!! this is simply because it combines a good story line with heart pounding action and well lots of blood and gore. which video games are all about
Rating: Summary: good game but buggy as well Review: Blood and gore is good but I found lots of bugs in the game. In the train station you can jump toward their back or just jump and they cant even hear you, stealth is not required for this game because the developer gave up with the stealth probably, picking up the body is stupid and useless. the prone is useless as well cuz the enemy can see through the tall thick grass. The effect sounds are crap except the voices in the game and the weapon color looks different than the real weapon, that is why you'll see a lot of mods or modifications for sof2. Too make this game better I replace most of the sounds and weapon skins. Lots of people are playing multiplayer, I'll recomend you to get this game for multiplayer. I would have given this game a higher score if it had fix many problems in the game. SUPPORT ACTIVISION AND RAVEN AND BUY THIS GAME NOW!!!
Rating: Summary: Don't under any circumstances by the Gold version of this: Review: First off, I'll admit I have not completed the game. There may be awesome levels later that redeem the following ..., but I'm not impressed with the beginning. Second off, save the 10 bucks, and buy the regular version of this game. You can download a free patch from Activision's website that will give you all of the "content" added in the Gold edition. First impressions: it's not any gorier than the first one. Yes, there are more damage zones, but it's pretty much the same as SOF 1. It was pretty damned shocking back then, but not so much now. Second, the blood pools are sprites. One edge of them always has a light gleam, and when you move around, it doesn't. Lame. Second, walking through the puddles should leave footprints. They could do it with Duke3D, they can do it now. My point: don't buy this game for the gore. They even used some of the same sound samples for screams as the first game. Get the first one, jack up the settings, and you'll experience the same gore. The character models are nice, but there need to be more of them. After the second level, I got tired of killing the same person over and over. It's all about little things guys. When a door opens in a cutscene, it shouldn't be raining on one side, and dry on the other. Stop making hexagonal wheels on cars. It looks lame. Window glass in cars should be breakable. Come on fellas, you're leaving out little things that should have been caught in playtesting. Half-Life is way older than this game, but it payed attention to the little details. When you pistol-whip a single pane of glass in a multi-pane window, they should not all instantaneously switch to the "broken-glass texture." Wait until this is in the bargain bins, then pick it up. Or shell out 10 bucks for the first one, and max the settings.
Rating: Summary: an addicitve fun, smart blood bath Review: i got in the habbit of staying up all night playing this. The gore is excellent, the violence is off the hook, the multiplayer looks like alot of fun even though i haven`t tried it yet. dont realy have any complaints about this one except the graphics.
Rating: Summary: SoF2 Better than the first, but could still use some work. Review: I have been a sof nut since the first one came out in Hong Kong, before it was released in the US. I bought sof2 the day it came out here, and have played it since then. If you are someone who is only interested in single player mode, then by all means get this game. the single player is great. However, if you are like me, you probably buy games for their multiplayer content. THis is where i would warn you. First of all, sof2 was only played by a lot of gamers when it first came out because of the lack of a better game to play. Basically, there are 4 or 5 different "gamemodes" but for all extensive purposes you can divide it into 3 modes: CTF, Deathmatch, and a better graphics version of Counterstrike. My main problem with sof2 is the amount of bugs in the game. you dont notice them unless you play a lot, then they become all too apparent. Becuase it uses a locational damage system (GHOUL) the game has problems with things liek getting a headshot with a shotgun from 40 feet away. let me tell you, nothing is more annoying than trying to shoot the enemy with your long range gun, and then them jumping around like a monkey halfway across the map and killing you with one shotgun blast... totally unrealistic. Also, as an avid clanner, i am very much in the sof2 community, and it has become apparent that most of the online gamers are leaving sof2 for other games. so if you are looking to get into a great online community in its peak, i wouldnt suggest sof2. the good clans/gamers have all left, and the multiplay will be about as dead as quake 3 within the next few months. If you are looking for multiplay, i suggest saving ur money and waiting for doom3 or quake4.
Rating: Summary: Multiplayer!!! Review: I haven't even played through the first level of single player, as it really wasn't my type of single player game. However, I started playing multiplayer and just became addicted to it. The multiplayer graphics and speed (if you have an adequate computer) are the best of any game out there. There are thousands of servers up on the net and they are filled 24/7 with players. In the online FPS category this is the best game I've played. It offers different multiplayer modes, among them is demolition, capture the flag, and deathmatch. The online environment is comparable to CS, but with much better graphics and not nearly as many annoying users. So, if you have a DSL+ speed internet connection and a fast machine with a decent graphics card....this is a great game. However if you're looking for single player, SOF2 just isn't very good. So, if you can't wait for Half Life 2, Doom 3, Deus Ex 2, and all the others in the new generation of FPS games coming out, buy this for the multiplayer.
Rating: Summary: THIS GAME IS THE ULTIMATE IN MULTIPLAYER GAMES!!!! Review: i purchased this game just because of the fact that i loved games that had to do with shooting. The first time i played i was hooked. the single player is pretty good, fun, but the story line makes no sence. But anyway lemme talk about the greats. this is the BEST multiplayer game out. ive played alot of games like cs, and even the new battlefields but still spend more time playin sof2 online then all combined!! ive been playin it for the past year and became probably one of the best in it. its so fun and addicting because the guns, blood and the whole aspect of killing is so detailed. anything from heads blown off, limbs seperating, and just plain blowing up is so exhilerating. when people sneak up and shoot the sounds make me literally jump from my seat!. theres alot of clans running on sof2 so this gives the opportunity for the players to get even more involved in the multi player aspect of this game. I recommend you get this game if you like multiplayer shooting games as soon as possible. maybe ill see u in a server! i love soldier of fortune 2.
Rating: Summary: Great single player game! Review: In comparison, this game is like Jedi Knight 2. The singleplayer is a fun and interesting expierience. The main characters are incredibly alike, and the graphics are alike. The multiplayer consists off pushing guys over and doing backslashes in jedi knight 2. That was a fault in jedi knight 2 that led alot of people to different games. This game has a problem with multiplayer as well. Namely... the people. There are so many little kids that believe themselves kings of the online gaming world that it is pathetic. The multiplayer brings nothing new to the table except when you play the outdoor maps. Namely the large ones with weeds and houses. Those are the best maps as you can hide in a house and guys are hiding all over the place. There are people hiding in the grass sometimes ambushing you or people in buildings waiting behind doors. Other than that, most of the levels get boring. Most of them. The single player is truly an expierience. Jedi Knight 2's was fun, but this game has a great thing going with the GHOUL II engine. You basically dismember your opponents. Sometimes it's fun, others it can be a little gruesome. Namely guys falling over holding their arm sockets. On one hand though, it does make the game feel real, and fun. I The single player also has stealth. It's okay. There are some problems with steath that make it kinda boring. The weapons are pretty cool too. The shotgun is fun, but what's cooler is customizing your pistol with laser sight and silencers. Now, the light attatchment would be cool if the editors made the light a little less bright. You can basically illuminate the land for a mile and have no enemy realize your existence. There's also some nice nades that are fun to use. The singleplayer portion is the reason to buy this game. Multiplayer is rather dull and feels meaningless most of the time. That's why there's counter-strike. If you are expecting anything really new about multiplayer I would move on, because you can't dismember enemies.(unless you can find a server with that mod, which will take a couple years to find).
Rating: Summary: Buy Delta Force Or Ghost Recon Instead Review: Last Year After I was tired of dominating the Delta Force Series, I decided to try out SOF2. The first thing that disappointed me was that although the cover of the package plainly shows a guy holding an H&K MP5, but the game doesn't even have this weapon! Next is the online gameplay, It plain sucks. There are very little number of game servers to choose from (unless you download the upgrade patch, then you will be about to play on many more servers). The upgrade patch is a pain in the a** to download, Activision & Ravensoftware refers you to 1 of 10 download mirror sites to get the patch from. Most of these, however, want to charge you money to download the upgrade! Then, after downloading it (the patch is almost 50mb, so even with DSL it takes a while) I couldn't figure out how to install the patch. I doesn't come with any instructions. When I tried installing it (I was guessing at how to do this) I must have done something wrong, because the game wouldn't run at all. This game has okay action, but the levels are too linear, and are very small in space, the bad guys are too hard to kill. I would give it 2 stars if it weren't for the patch issue, but I think it was the biggest waste of $39.99 + tax that I ever spent. My suggestion: Buy all 6 of the Delta Force series from Novalogic they have easy upgrades, great single player action, and kick a** online fun.
Rating: Summary: Go medieval ! Review: SOF2 is a great game. You'll get to fire the M60 machine gun, as a door gunner on a Huey, and from the back of a moving truck at attacking Czech helos. You'll get to fire a full-auto 12 gauge comat shotgun and shoot the legs out from under Spetnaz ski troopers! You'll get to wield the fearsome M16A2M203 similar to the one Tony Montana has in the film Scarface. You'll find yourself oft quoting "Say hello to my little friend" as you waste another of the drug lord's innumerable henchmen! Youll' be issued the fantastic prototype OICW=Objective Individual Combat Weapon, which boasts '500 percent increase in probability of incapacitation'. Unlike games like DEUS EX, there's not much reward in going stealthily about, taking down the baddies non-lethally. Except for one misiion where you're required to bonk a couple of sentries on the noggin, most of the game is spent in full-on Rambo mode. The insructions say, "Don't kill civilians". But you never see many innocents. In one level if you don't grease the unarmed biowar scientists they'll pick up guns off the deck and shoot you at the first opportunity. I say, "Waste 'em all let God sort 'em out!'' ....
