Rating: Summary: MW4: Mercs Review: 10 new mechs, 2 new weapons, 1 new equipment package, 19 new multiplayer maps, more than 60 new single player missions. Add that to the already 34 mechs in Vengeance, Black Knight, and the mechpaks and you have a formitable arsinal to choose from. The graphics have been upped and are even better than before, with the addition of waterfalls, jungles, and the overall added detail
Rating: Summary: Best Mech Sim game yet Review: Actually give this 4-1/2 stars. This is the best of all of the Mechwarrior series. Mercenaries takes you even deeper into the world of mech combat. You are not only piloting some awesome mechs, managing weapons and resources, but must now make some choices about alliances, missions, and lancemates which by the way you can have up to 7 now. (not to mention the graphics are gorgeously rendered, with enough detail to give perspective on the size of these monsters). The only thing I would add to the wish list on this one is being given the capability to carry pilots from one game to the next. If you like good simulation games (NOT Arcade style), this is a MUST BUY!!!!
Rating: Summary: Lost Value and increased price as a standalone. Review: Battletech is a lot of fun and is going strong after 15 or so years, though its original form as a minature game is over and replaced with Mech Warrior: Dark Age, a very stupid and pointless game. The mech warrior video games used to be a lot more bound into Battletech but MW4 is still very fun. Vengeance was a dream, Black Knight was even better, and the Mek Paks were a good holdover to Mercs. Mercs was an expansion marketed as a standalone, which made it loose so much. The original maps were scrapped, MP game types minimized, weapons removed, and even some of the AI complexity. The took out the CTF game type for crissake. Also it claimed "full compatibility" with the mek paks. You can still only use the meks in MP, and everything else in them ships with mercs. I mostly play MultiPlayer and would have given it two stars execept for the stellar single player. Managing a buiseness, finding conrtacts, buying equepment. It's a lot of fun. The missions can tend to get a little over slugfestty somtimes, but on the whole they are interesting and startegic. You get rewards for taking honorable paths. (If you choose to fight the clans head on instead of ambush them you get a fully skilled pilot who works free). The number of choices is incredible. This game is worth [the money], and should be an expansion. I hope they fix all the MP problems in the sure to come WOB expansion and make it compatible with the mek paks in single player. Wait for the price to go down on this one.
Rating: Summary: Pretty Good Review: Bought this yesterday, played for a few hours...I'm a big Mechwarrior series fan, I ve been waiting for this one for a while. Overall, this is a very good game, but it has pro's and cons. I liked the addition of the money management, it's not enough to just slap a bunch of big weapons onto the mech - you have to be able to afford it. You also have to pay your lancemates, and they all require different salary (BTW, you get what you pay for). Fixing your damaged mechs also costs money(surprise!), as well as traveling from planet to planet. The tournament single player missions are also kinda cool, but don't expect a large payout - after winning the tournament my mech was so badly damaged that prize money was less than what it cost to fix it. Now the bad: I guess I just expected a new Mechwarrior game, which this isn't. It should have been marketed (and priced) as an expansion pack. The terrains and environments are nothing special, actually the jungle is quite annoying, you have to blow up most of the trees before you can get a shot at your opponent. Nothing has been added to the gameplay itself (but nothing lost either). The bottom line: If you are a die-hard fan of the Mech series (like me) or you never played Mechwarrior before, get this one. Otherwise wait for the price to come down a little. (I don't think expansion packs are worth $50)
Rating: Summary: A great new game Review: for a long time mech warrior fans have been wanting a good Mercenaries game. well microsoft has heard the call a far surpassed the mech fan's expectations. I have played this in Mech pods at gencon 2002 and found it to be amazing game, that is as fun to watch, as it is to play, the action is amazing. People would crowd around a big screen TV that was set up so that people could watch the battles unfold. Of course there are some problems with the game but they are small bugs that are just annoying enough to distract you nothing takes away from the actual game play. Plus they have added some new mechs such as the Fafnir, which we have dubbed the tank with legs. All in all it is an amazing game that I highly recommend buying.
Rating: Summary: DOES NOT INCLUDE MECH PAK MECHS!!!! Review: Great game but it DOES NOT INCLUDE THE MECHS FROM EITHER OF THE MECH PAKS ("Clan" and "Inner Sphere") as suggested by: "A gamer from Mobile, Alabama United States." I bought the game after reading that review and WAS REALLY TICKED WHEN I REALIZED THAT HE WAS _WRONG_!!!! CHECK YOUR FACTS BEFORE YOU POST HERE!!
Rating: Summary: The ultimate 3063 action packed mech game!!!!!!!!!!! Review: I downloaded the trial version of MW4M. Here is what I thought of the game. Good grahpics, bizzar combat, play over 4? mechs. Including the longbow, owens, hellhound, hellspawn, uziel, raven, and the flea. fight in the jungle book-like arena, fight in a factory, or fight in the Roman Coliseum. Or do a mission and lead your mechs to victory. But I'll experience the action in the full version. In the demo you can try out two missions, the arena jungle game, and play with humans using the LAN. You get for Multiplayer maps is the jungle arena, and the oilspill. But thats my review.
Rating: Summary: a tweeked sequel to a very good mech simulator Review: I finally broke down and purchased MW4:M now that it was $... US. Its just as good as the original MW4, with a few mostly beneficial changes. The ability to compete in in-game tourneys on solaris 7, and the lack of the mini-movies when you get a status report between missions (seemed to slow down menu functions a bit). On the bad side, my rudder controls on my TopGun Afterburner joystick don't seem to work now (they did in MW4). Minor complaint, and this may have a workaround. otherwise, its good to have a joystick with plenty of buttons for the game, and any modern computer should be able to run it at full resolution/ eye candy on.
Rating: Summary: Great game, [bad] support Review: I had previously purchased the Mech4, Mech4 Black Knight, and MechcommanderII pack only to find out that Mech4 didn't work on XP. So I returned those and bought Mercenaries. I really like the game, don't get me wrong. But, the support that accompanies the software doesn't tell you anything about the weapons you use, how to operate the game, etc. As a stand-alone game, microsoft needed to do more. I don't think it would have killed them to put in a few extra pages containing this info. Final word: If you already know what you are doing or if it is not important to know what you are doing, this is a great game.
Rating: Summary: Great game but could be better Review: I liked the game and I like Mech warrior, I wish that I could have the streaming video of Vengence. Also if you destroy the enamy mechs legs it go supernova instead of just falling down. I also don't like the over symplfied mechlab.
