Summary: Short but amazing nonetheless
Review: I've never, in my entire life, been addicted to the demo alone. I swear, it's NEVER the same each time I play it. My retail version is in the mail, but I can tell you right now, this game kicks serious butt.

Even if you finish the single player game, there's always more MODs to install.

Graphics
---------
10/10 - Amazing graphics; physics is amazing since MP2 uses Havok. Textures are crisp and clear.

Performance
---------
20/10 - EXTRAORDINARY. I'm using a P3 700Mhz (OC to 807) and a Radeon 9800 Pro. Wow, it hardly slows (only in big firefights). Other game makers should take a hint.

Sound
---------
10/10 - MP2 is very "noir" (melodramatic). The storyline is still very good and the voice acting is wonderful, very cinematic. The bullet time slows down the sound and sounds very cool!

Gameplay
---------
10/10 - My favorite. That's what keeps me coming back and playing again! I love shooting the gas containers and making them explode, the physics are awesome. AI is great, it's pretty challenging, luckily there's enough painkillers to keep you full health!

All in all a top-of-the-line game. Only gripes are no multiplayer and short game (8-10 hours total!). Maybe you should try Used version, or rental (for consoles).

Summary: Stylishly Honorable to the Action Platform
Review: I was foreign to the world of Max Payne. Because I was not exposed to the frenzy of the detective's game back in 2001, I felt nonchalant towards the coming sequel. Now that I have experienced the sequel, I must profess that I have been stunned, then mesmerized, and all the more thrilled to have this game land on my laptop. Max Payne 2: The fall of Max Payne is a barrage of devilish quality saturating all through the game and then some. From the gutsy gameplay to the direction of the story, this game falls into a certain pizzazz of stylish coolness.

I can crack the code as to why the first game ignited a stir. An action game has never felt so empowered to be reckoned as the high octave blast that is Max Payne 2. Playing as a pessimistic detective, you must blaze through he dark, gritty streets of New York city. The story alone is topnotch suspense bundled with extraordinary twists and turns that'll have you gasping throughout your day. Driven by the story, the game's focal highlight is the gameplay's Bullet Time implementation. Heck, Max Payne is one of those games that is truly augmented by the graphics and sheer physics of the environment. With eye-candy in every so direction, it's a joy to shoot baddies with a multitude of weapons. Further adding to the bountiful fun, is the Havok engine which has the environment fully interactive. There's also rag-doll effects where spectacular combat scenes are distilled in slow-motion scenes and the best part is your in control. The gist of Max Payne 2 is the more baddies you gun down, the faster Payne is in a slow-motioned surrounding. With the environment flinging all over the screen and the slow motion of the game setting in, it's a delight to control this gem again and again.

Payne romps through New York City at its absolute darkest. As you go guns-a-blazing, you'll notice the graphical powerhouse. Each nook and cranny in the game is a stellar high point. What hit's the stride even more is the detailed photo realistic textures and the maw-gaping lighting effects. Like the story, the graphics stand on its own. A spectacular soundtrack kicks in to add to the already fascinating atmosphere. There are plenty of compulsive tracks, but the best part of the audio derives from the firefights where the signature sound of Payne's heart gallops as enemy gunfire sounds distorted. Plus, the voiceovers are good and suit the personality of Payne. The gritty comic book scenes heavily attribute to the overall atmosphere of the astounding game. You can easily tell that the makers of the game, have put sweat and effort into this wet-dream-come-true production.

The first game has been known to be very short, and the second one follows suit. Under the circumstances, its honest to say that fans of this game will not go out aching. This game is really something, but does leave the gamer wanting much more. Aside from that quibble, the stunning action warrants a purchase. Max Payne 2: the Fall of Max Payne is stylishly honorable to the action gaming platform.

Summary: Perfect Film Noir Gameplay
Review: Max Payne is a film noir mature gaming title that involves gunfights and long, drawn out, introspective speeches full of cliches and pouring rain under a dark, starless sky.

There are probably few shooter players left who have not heard of the Max Payne game. Its original graphics and storyline made it a must-play for many.

Max Payne 2 is set in New York City, and the hero has had a rough life. Now he runs into a woman he thought was dead and sets out on a tale of betrayal and shooting. Lots of shooting. This isn't a game for puzzle solvers or for those who want to explore the intricate detail of a quest's lore. It's about blasting your way through problems and finding the best way to get rid of those enemies.

There are great graphics, great sounds, great bullet-time effects. But the thing that stands out in most peoples' minds is the cliche-ridden dialogue that gives the game its atmosphere. You can't escape it. It's like a thick fog in London, swirling all around you. It permeates the game and gives it depth.

So watch all of those classic Philip Marlowe movies, and then get set for Max Payne, where you control the story.

Summary: One of the finest desktop gaming experiences ever...
Review: Max Payne 2 is one tight little package. From the gritty, voilent, and absorbing plot and story to the amazing graphics and gameplay, Max Payne 2 will have you stuck to your office chair from intall to final credits.

Max Payne 2 is a 3rd person shooter. You won't find puzzles, spells, or menus here. Your job is to essentailly exterminate everything that moves within the game environments. But that is the thing, it is much more than that. The game is so well crafted you will forget you are at your computer. The settings are rustic, as in they have an authentic, "lived-in" feel that adds to the atmosphere. When Max encounters an enemy, he can shift into what is called "Bullet Time." Think the Matrix. Max slows down time in order to make it easier to pick off enemies. Yes, I know it sounds cheesy right now, but as soon as you see Max shootdodge with twin Desert Eagles in slow motion, sparking an explosion that not only takes care of the bad guys but knocks over crates and barrels it will seem like second nature. This game sports the new Havok physics engine, which means objects and people in the game react realisticly as they would in real life. It really adds another dimension to the game.

Yes, this game is short, and yes, it does have some hefty system requirements, but if you have got the gear, this game is a blast, regardless of how long it is. I think the length is an acceptable trade off for quality, and this game oozes with it. One thing... in order to fully experience this game, listen to what everybody has to say. There is some pretty funny stuff along the way, especially in the police station. Max Payne 2 has some extremely good sounds and effects, so make sure you have a 5.1 speaker system so you know where to look for the people that are shooting you.

Don't pay attention to the gripes other reviewers have... this game is well worth the price of admission. After you have finished it, the mod community will have added some nifty new levels/ideas that will add hours onto the experience if that is what you are worried about. Max Payne 2 is a great game.

Gameplay=Max may look wrose but hes way better than he was in the first game. He does his stops and goes in the midnight crises in the city of New York looking for his love interest Mona Sax who seems to be alive from being shot in the head and Max looks pretty miserable..A dead wife,A dead Daughter and Mona Sax is his next interest..And Max doesnt want her dead so what do you do to protect your love interest? USE GUNS! YAH! BulleTTime 2.0 in the works now sets Max in a sl0-M0 live! (This beats the ENTER THE MATRIX!) and now he can do new stunts. Hop over buildings, doing coop play (With AI MONA SAX in some levels) and sometimes you will even be controlling Mona. You will be Entering MAXES DANGEROUS MIND 0nce again! 3x as like before! And thats not all. MaX has more Xplosives with Xtrernal actions!

---------
Graphics=Oh Mona..why does your head go through a table when I control you? It has improved Visual Graphics and it also brings more Visual Glitches.
(Examples: -You will be shot and when the bullet hits you about 4 secs later you will spit out blood.
-The table thing I mentioned before.)
Other words it has great visual graphics!
-----
Story= I mentioned alot from before but I want to mention more (Nothing Spoilish. just somestuff from the begining) This is a drama show were Max is in a devastating, mindblowing, large hellish flavor with more! He goes through this conflict: Drama,Friendship,Batrayel.

Matches perfect with the Envirement.
-----

Summary: In the top 5 best games I've ever played
Review: I've been playing computer games for over twenty years, and let me tell you, this game is one of the best I've ever seen. The production value alone is stellar. The humor is hysterical, the suspense is gripping, the horror is terrifying, the dialogue is top-notch, and the storyline is superb. Graphically, brilliant. Sound is awesome. The in-game physics is so very cool (bodies employ rag-doll physics, falling and flying like real bodies), many destructible surfaces, items that move and react as they should (ie. boxes, lamps, explosives). Good AI, and beautiful renderings. Stellar cut-scenes (both the in-game scenes, and the graphic-novel cuts).

I played it on the PC -- not certain about the console adaptations, but if you have a PC, get this. It's a great ride.

Summary: Just when you thought it could'nt get any better...
Review: !!!Crrrraaaaaaaack!!! (lightning strikes).
The dark ambience of NY city. That pit in your stomach... the feeling that something will go wrong. This game, like its predecesssor attack your mind as well as challenge your moves.

Unlike many other games, higher difficulty does not mean more enemies... but much smarter enemies. Enemies that taunt you when they dodge your bullets... laugh in your face. The music just gets to you. I mean, I just can't stop humming it. My wife hates the game. I am just at the PC hacking away at it. I keep humming the MP2 tune. My moods were governed by the game... somehow you feel what Maxie ol boy is going through. That really got on her nerves. The ingame music is just too good though (even she had to admit... he he he).

Dream sequences (which I found to be most disturbing in MP1) are not as disturbing this time round. Alas!
The game too is not as short as I have read in reviews. Maybe that's because I look inside every single filing cabinet or drawer in the room. Or maybe my gameplay just plain sucks.

The cut scenes are amazing, not just in graphics... but in content as well. They actually carry on from the action. Like the same guy could slump in the cut sequence or fall off a legde, depending upon how you kill him. I have also tried detonating a grenade just before a scene, and sure enough it was there. The graphics and the environment are just too good.
The attention to detail is mind boggling. Even locations which you won't actually be able to access in normal gameplay, but will only view from a distance (unless you know cheat codes he he he) are complete inside and outside!!!

Mona is an absolutely fabulous super chick. Her voice is so cool and when she walks, she could just burn my monitor.

People, let me tell you, its worth playing the hard boiled level .. all the way. Believe me, things are different. (Don't be mislead by the word easiest, its only relative).

Although it was said people won't go through walls, I did have a couple of instances when the head went through. But the movement of the bodies as they fall (rag-doll effect) after being shot is almost too real. The game is also "linear triggered". Meaning that you have to do a certain action in order to enable the next sequence, so there is no free path to achieve the final objective. But who's complaining!!! Just gives me more baddies to kill !!!!
Also, with the Max Payne Editor Tools, now you can create your own levels.... but this may be too much of a daunting task if you do not have some real games programming and design experience. Its a bit overwhelming.

You have to go get this game. Buy it ... rent it ... borrow it... whatever.... if not for anything, for the love of MONA SAX !!!!!!
