Rating: Summary: Online Living Review: This game is simply stupendous, even with 4+ years on the market, simply because of its online content. The multiplayer modifications available for free download (Counter Strike, Day of Defeat, etc.) are well worth the meager $15 for the actual game. And if you do not want to download such modifications, Team Fortress Classic is great in itself. Graphics vary more widely than any game I've seen, completely based on your system's capabilities (obviously). Sound is very nice as well. And who doesn't love a First Person Shooter? A classic, as many before have stated. If you don't own it, you've been missing out for years.
Rating: Summary: way overated game Review: one of the BETTER first person shooters around. If you have a relatively low end system you should definitely buy this. If you own a BEAST (like myself) this game is nothing special. Gamers often rate HL based on the HL mod Counterstrike - THEY ARE DIFFERENT!! The gameplay in HL is pretty boring and drawn out and to be honest ive never actually been interested enough to finish the game. Q3, AvP2 and Ghost Recon are far superior in graphics and gameplay. HL generated most of its sales because of Counterstrike. Play Q3 its much better and actually requires SKILL and good REFLEXES to play - much more fun too!! :) Or just wait for Doom3... your choice.
Rating: Summary: One of the finest games ever to grace the PC. Review: This game was first released in November 31st back in 1998. It was hailed as one of the best PC games of all time. Everything about the game was perfect. Now, in 2003, the game shows no signs of wearing down as Mods are continued being made by fans of the series. Counter-Strike, which you may have heard is the number #1 most played game on the net, is available free to download to any owner of Half-Life. On any day, you can see over 10,000 servers filled with players working like a team(well, most of the time) to kill the opposing forces. And what about the original game? It still rocks! The storyline, in which you must escape a testing facility after an unusual invasion occurs inside is just brilliant, just wait till you play see it. The graphics are still good even though the game is almost 5 years old, and the sound used for the effects are amazing. Be prepared to be amazed, to be scared, and to have fun with Half-Life and it's 100+ awesome mods!
Rating: Summary: The Best First Person Shooter Ever Made Review: Most of us have played or at least played First Person Shooters. FPS is becoming the standard format for action games these days, and it is understandably difficult for game designers to keep them fresh and interesting. I don't give a lot of 5-star ratings, but I honestly believe that Half-Life is the best computer game I have ever played. Half-Life is an excellent game all around. Excellent graphics, pretty good sound, an incredible story-line, and a ton of intellectual stimulation. THERE ARE PUZZLES to solve in Half-Life. Some of these are challenging, all of them are fun. The combat is exciting, and the AI is frightening. You will be attacked in groups. The enemy will cooperate with each other. Some will shoot and try to pin you down. Some will throw grenades when you are behind cover. They will surround and flank you. Half-Life has raised the standards for AI in computer gaming. As for system requirements, Half-Life is a game that any computer can handle, it runs fine on a 400 MHz Pentium 1. Perhaps the best part about Half-Life is the multiplayer compatibility. There are many other games that are based off the Half-Life Engine that are incredible to play online. Team Fortress for the more chaotic lemming-style play (run around and kill it if it moves) or Counter-Strike for the more strategic, team oriented player. This is the only game I've ever seen with no cons. Buy this game for a kid of any age or an adult. (It also has a handy parental violence control, though it's really not necessary -- this is not a graphic game.)
Rating: Summary: BEST GAME EVER. SEE THE PERIOD??? Review: This game is the best game to ever grace the human race. I bought this game three years ago, and haven't bought another shooter since. The story line is awesome, with about 6 hrs of gameplay IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING. The first time through, it took me, a FPS (first person shooter) expert several months to beat. This game features many great puzzles, monsters, guts and more. Replay value? Its got it. With the best multi-player games avaialable, and also being able to download "modifications" of the game - it has kept me and thousands of other gamers lovin' it! Free for download, or hundreds of different versions of the game, with new missions, guns, etc. Using the basic Half-life engine, there are hundreds of great games out there that are totaly unique! And all this for free once you buy half life! Right now I'm into the Mod (modification) called "Day Of Defeat" it like medal of honor, but much better because of the realism, gameplay. Counterstrike, (#1 Internet Game In the World) is free for download, and also a mod for half life. this game has kept me busy for 3 years and counting. The graphics are pretty good, but outdated now. Don't let that stop you, though. Go for it, thousands of other gamer's have, and never regret it!

Rating: Summary: Half-Life is a game no gamer should be without! Review: Dear Gaming Public, Half-life is more then a game it's a legend. You can't chat with FPS players over the net for 5 minutes without hearing the name mentioned. There are quite a few games that come to mind that have [stinky] single players and a good multiplayer. Half-life is like that. Personally I think that the single player campaigns are just gory and tasteless. It's just a huge blood feast and is really just... stupid. I get no satisfaction whatever from blowing the head off a giant [crud] or an alien with a laser pistol. People I've talked to say that later, when the solders start using strategy and teaming up, is when it gets fun. To be truthful I must admit that I haven't finished the single player. That's not to say I haven't put in some quality gaming hours, so be warned, don't try the single player unless your willing to muck through the first few hours of tasteless, boring, and altogether pointless violence. If you're interested in the single player moad I suggest the new James Bond game, 007 Nightfire, I've head great things about it. What's fun about Half Life, and the reason I gave it 5 stars is the multiplayer. Even though it's a couple of years old, there is still no game that even begins to rival it, except perhaps Halo for xbox. Everything is just great about over the net play with this game. From the weapons to the levels to the different moads to play (like death match and capture the flag for example.) The other cool think about over the net plat is the ability to create your own maps. What I find the most satisfying in this game is playing in my own creations. You can add hills, bunkers, tripwires, or anything else to fit your playing style. This game is the best of the best. No one can truthfully call them self's a FPS gamer without spending 100+ hours playing this game. I urge anyone with a net connection to buy this game. It will undoubtedly be the best buy of your life considering the endless hours of enjoyment it will give you. Just be careful to finish your essays first, or after a 24 hour gaming section you'll get an F. I very much hope that any players of Bond or Quake arena will take the next step towards the fulfillment of gaming experience. So I conclude, GET THIS GAME, it is the bomb of all FPS's. I am very surprised that it has only won 40 or so awards. William Hartsuck

Rating: Summary: GAME OF THE YEAR Review: THE game of the year. Perfect visuals, eirie sound effects and a desent PLOT are the ingredients (not to mention 'LOVE'!) required for a title to recieve "game of the year" award so many times. The game begins with a long train-ride to work: the first of many small touches which add to the feeling of involvment and immersion when playing "THE HALF" (as I often refer to it as). A disaster at the lab in which you work (involving something caled a 'resenece cascade')opens a link to our world, from an alien world, ZEN. The alins appear to be less then friendly, so, you, Gordan Freeman decide to kill them all. I only found one major set-back in the GAME: after all the development of the plot and the characters (an astounding amount for a GAME), HALFLIFE ends considerebly weakly. However, after playing right through the game, battling aliens, Marines, and finaly defeating the the NILLAH (one of the hardest GAME BOSSES ever), you will probably fail to notice this. Even my good BUDDY, who NEVER plays games, except 'Jules of Anuba', helped me to finish the GAME, with usefull ideas on what to shoot at or where to go. "Let the BIG MAN step in" he said, before trying his luck on killing Marines (who, by the way, are the most advanced AI enemies ever to get smacking the keyboard screaming things that I wont mention here) "Halflife, game of the year" is a valuable addition to anyones game collection. BUY IT NOW. thank you.
