Summary: mmm . . . skeletons
Review: Not only is this game beautiful, entertaining, challenging, inspired, and gripping, but it is also fun. By the end of this game, you truly feel as though you are Manny, and that's a good thing. Just a warning: I had trouble moving around in some places, in one spot that made a puzzle nearly impossible to solve. I have also had friends that cannot handle the game even on their nice, nice computers, which makes it impossible to get past a certain point. So check the requirements carefully! But, if your computer does pass, then you are in for thae journey of a lifetime.

Summary: The most fun I've ever had with an adventure game
Review: Grim Fandango is hands down my favorite adventure PC game. Lucas Arts developed this game with the same goals in mind that they had when creating the Monkey Island series, but Grim Fandango is more clever, more fluid, and more interactive. Whereas Monkey Island uses two-dimensional animation, Grim Fandango employs a great 3D graphic generator. The game takes place in the Land of the Dead on the Day of the Dead, but overlays onto this setting a Casablanca-like story. You are Manny Calaveras, travel agent to the dead, with a Bogart-like persona and wit. After collecting your first soul, it becomes apparent that things are not going as they should be, and it is up to you to set the right. A funny, fun, and fascinating adventure, with the best side-kick ever to appear in a video game.

Summary: Leaves Other PC Games in the Myst
Review: Art you haven't seen a million times before... a quirky story... sly humor... and offbeat puzzles that make you stop and think but don't stop you dead in your tracks. Grim Fandango is so much fun it will win over people who think all PC games are shoot 'em up gorefests.

Summary: The best PC game I've played
Review: This was a beautifully drawn and masterfully made game. The story was exciting and detailed--you get to work with a character in a grim reaper suit! Also, how often is the protagonist of a computer game a latino?

I LOVED the music and dialogue. The puzzles were challenging (but not impossible) and as goofy as the puzzles from Day of the Tentacle. I hope LucasArts is thinking of a sequel!

Summary: Love this game
Review: A great game with a good storyline. Challenging, but can be figured out (for the most part) without the strategy giude. I've played the game twice already. The controls can be a bit awkward at times.

Summary: This game saved the adventure genre!!!
Review: Grim Fandango is awesome!!! If you like a game with a cinematic theme to it and great characters and plot, you'll most likely agree with my number of stars for this game. I loved the film noir section of the game, it really was well wrote. The controls were very good and it had graphics to match the great gameplay. If you are looking for a great gaming experience, buy this game!!!

Summary: Great game, poor controls
Review: Grim Fandago is a magnificent game, with some problems. As Manny Calavera, the main, dead, character your job is to find a female character that will be your ticket out of the purgatorial world you inhabit during the game. The dialog and characters were funny and interesting, but the interface was uncomfortable to use. Unlike most adventure games that use the mouse for moving around, Grim Fandago uses the arrow keys on the keyboard. This is great, if you don't have a mouse, but who doesn't? Do you like a really difficult and challenging game? Then buy this one. I found it impossible without the walkthrough (available on-line). Has anyone gotten through the whole game without it? If so, you are a better gamer than I. Also somewhat irritating were the long walks from one area to another, without the ability to jump quickly. Lastly, I found a bug in the game that stopped me in my tracks (even having followed the walkthrough explicitly) on the level with the cat-track; After you have found your female co-worker pushing up daisies (literally) your new attorney does not appear in the members-only area of the cat track. Is there a patch for this? I lost interest at that point. Don't let this stop you, though, from buying the game. It was a great story and a lot of fun, throughout most of the adventure. Great acting, music and graphics made this well worth the price.

Summary: Finally I know what happens when I die!
Review: What makes up a perfect adventure game? You need a good story line, graphics that match the mood of the story, likeable characters (or characters you love to hate!), a user interface that you don't have to "think about" all the time, and a good mix of story and puzzles. In many games (The 7th guest, Shivers to name but two) the puzzles take up too much space. In other games, the puzzles or the event triggers (the things you need to do to get on with the story) may frustrate you for nights on end until your patience runs out and you throw the game away in disgust.

So what does Grim Fandango offer? A great story line: the journey through the land of the dead. Precisely the right ambiance: a mix of Art Deco and Mexican lore. Fantastic characters and voices: Manny is as cool as Phil Marlowe (and the accent!), Meche is the sexiest skeleton I have seen, and I wish there actually were demons like Glottis. A good user interface: the keys become second nature to you very quickly. And, maybe best of all, the story flows naturally and the puzzles are not too hard. I just played it for the second time, the first was a year or so ago, and even now (when I know what to do all the time) it gave me four nights of entertainment.

This game rivals the Tex Murphy games as the best adventure game I have seen. Buy!

Summary: One of the Best Games Ever Made!
Review: Grim Fandango is one of those games that just about everyone likes. Whether you like shoot-em-up games like Doom, or Fantasy Games like Myst, Grim Fandango is just too much fun. The first thing I noticed were the high quality graphics. I didn't even install the higher version of the game. The plot is so intriguing you just can't stop playing it, and the puzzles are perfect! Grim Fandango is definitely a game that needs to be added to everyones' shelf!

Summary: FANTASTIC! FUN! WELL DONE!
Review: This is a well done game. My husband bought it for me as a gift. The story is rich and the graphics are very nice. Some of the puzzles are tedious, but the overall game makes up for a few poorly set-up puzzles. I would definately reccommend this game.
