Summary: Great game, if you have top-notch 'puter and hi-speed cable
Review: If you're reading this, most likely you're debating whether or not to buy this game. My recommendation would be "absolutely." I picked it up a month ago and for a guy who's not addicted to computer games, I've had a heckuva time drawing myself away from this one. To put it simply, it kicks butt. Here's why I think so...I enjoy most First-person-shooters and this one is no exception. The gameplay is smooth and intuitive and the options for attack are plentiful. Each of the 5 classifications of soldiers provide an interesting way to take on the enemy, but none are guaranteed to keep you alive, hence the challenge of the game. Not since Team Fortress Classic have I seen an FPS that has done such a good job balacing the different character classes. (My favorite is the Engineer.) One aspect I really love is the inclusion of vehicles; air, sea and land. They are all incredibly easy to use ,(although a joystick for the airplanes is pretty necessary in order to fly to your full potential), and add a fun, new element of gameplay that you're probably not accustomed to. For example, it's one thing to round a hilltop and see enemy infantry running your way, but you haven't lived until you've had tank turrets tracking you, planes swooping down on your position and enemy battleships launching artillery at you from miles away. To quote a friend, "You know the games a blast when you're sitting in the ball turret gunner position on a bomber, you see a guy in a parachute floating by, and you realize it's the pilot of your plane. Sweeeet." Another pro is the wide variety of maps included. I only have the basic game, (not the expansion), and I'm fully satisfied with the number of map choices I have. Maps range from winter locals to tropical island battles, including a well-made Omaha Beach recreation. A few maps are just a tad too large, but I just don't play those maps very often, so no big deal. One other thing to note is that some people have griped about the system requirements for this game. True enough, you need a top-notch computer to fully enjoy it, as well as hi-speed internet access. Without either of these, it's probably not worth buying at all. (Kind of like buying a Ferrari in a town where every road has 25 MPH speed limits.) But, if you've got a good system and fast Internet access, you're golden. That all said, this is a great game and one I'll probably play for quite a long time. One more note...I had Medal of Honor before this and one reason I held off buying B'field 1942 for awhile was because I figured it was more of the same. Waaaay wrong. MoH is wonderful for single player, but B'field is just leages ahead of MoH when it comes to Multiplayer.

Summary: Don't bother if you don't have a GeForce4 or better.
Review: I played the demo before the game released and the framerate .... on my GeForce2. Then I finally picked it up because of all the hype and it still ..... UT2003, RTCW and Enemy Territory run super smooth on my system with the res to 1024x768. And from what I've seen they're more fun. And how can you have a WWII FPS with no blood? I don't know how this POS got game of the year. It's not all that. Pick up Wolfenstein or download enemy territory for the best WWII sim experience.

Review: None Better, I always play online, there is usually at least 10,000 players at any given time, not everyone is team oriented, but some are. I even joined a clan where everyone is. Simply best game out, i dont even play MOHAA anymore.

Summary: One of my favorites.
Review: Battlefield 1942 is an excellent game. It has broad flexibility, great player-environment interaction, superb graphics and engrossing historical backing. All things that I look for in a FPS. It allows players to operate any vehicle or weapon system that you can find. This gives you a much greater sense of freedom than in comparable games like Medal of Honor. The graphics are also a step up when compared to similar games. The video card requirements may be higher than many games, but it is worth it. The best feature of all is the feature that allows you to play on different armies, select different insertion points, and select different player specialties. Overall BF 1942 is my favorite FPS. If you like flexible and historical games, then this should be top on your list.

Summary: Excellent Expansion, worth the money
Review: It may seem like a small package, containing only 6 levels, in addition to the original's 20 something, but they are the 6 best levels in the game. Single player or with some chums, this is as good as gaming gets. [Money] is a cheap price considering how many hours you will spend with these 6 levels, even topping the original.

Summary: Great game, but you need hi-end system and hi-speed modem
Review: First off, you need a very good system to play this game, that's really the only downside I can see, (which isn't a problem for me, I've got a new P4 2.8 gig, etc.) So in fairness to the developers, if someone has a weak system and thinks the game stinks, it's probably because they just can't enjoy the game as it was intended. Personally, I was blown away by this game. The graphics and gameplay are fantastic. It's all the fun of a first-person shooter, with a challenging bit of realism (but not so much that you die every time you scratch your pinky). The vehicles take the game 10 steps further. The first time I hopped into the machine-gunner position on top of a tank while another player was driving, I thought it was one of the greatest gaming moments for me. Same goes for the gunner positions in the bomber planes, very cool stuff. Also, character choices are pretty well-balanced, much like Team Fortress Classic. Word of warning, this game can be played in single-player mode, but it is not NEARLY as satisfying as playing online. I.e. if you don't have a high-speed connection, don't buy this, you won't be able to play multiplayer and the single-player mode just isn't as much fun. Overall, if you enjoy shooters and/or WWII games, this is probably the game for you. Also, I had Medal of Honor before I bought this. I thought MoH was cool and figured B'field would be about the same...I was way wrong. Nothing against MoH, it's got a fine single-player game, but the excitement of B'field 1942's multiplayer games just tops the cake. My friend's comments on the game pretty much sums it up. "I was sitting in the ball turret position in a bomber, shooting at the tanks and jeeps whizzing by on the ground, when all of the sudden I see this guy floating by in a parachute. That's when I realized it was my pilot."

Summary: The best World War Two game yet
Review: This game surpasses Medal of Honor mainly because it has a massive multiplayer system. I love to play in the servers which can host 64 players at a single time. It adds strategy. I gave it a four star rating mainly because the players in the game effected it. Most of the time they want to do everything themselves removing any chances of teamwork.

Summary: Simply The Greatest!!!!
Review: This game is simply one of the best RPS games that I have played to date. It ranks up there with Unreal Tournament 2003,Black hawk down,and Half life. You can go on missions,and can use a good number of weapons to help you and your AI team,accomplish your goals. You can drive a jeep,tank,all-terrain transport vech,various airplanes,and boats. You can man the Anti-aircraft guns on a battleship.Your AI team members,will get into your vech,and man the guns in your vech,if they have guns. After fraging a AI or real player in multiplayer games,you can pickup and use the ammo,and weapon,but you must put down,the one you were previously carrying. What makes this game even better is the ability to set up a LAN game,or even better play on the Internet,with up to 64 players. I use my dial-up modem,and only have been kicked off twice for slow ping rate. Find a server with a slower ping rate,and you can play for hours,this is what i did. Dsl or cable modems,usually donot have this problem. Install GameSpy arcade,upgrade your BF1942 at the official website (takes about 1hr.13min on dial-up),and you are ready to play on-line.

Summary: Fun Game, but RIDDLED with technical (and other) problems
Review: The game designers did a good job creating a fun game, but a HUGE number of technical issues make this game overly fustrating.
My BIGGEST gripe is the copy protection. In a BRILLIANT move that transfers the burden of piracy from the software company to the end user, EA uses a network key in addition to needing the original CD. I can't tell you how infuriating it is to try to jump into a game only to be kicked off by the message "CD KEY IN USE". Some pirate out there gets to play while I, who paid for the game, suffer the consequences. Brilliant EA- just simply brilliant.
BF1942 (currently version 1.31) is full of bugs. It will play for about 5 minutes and crash on me two or three times, with no error message, before I can get through a whole game. One of the included maps crashes on me constantly- I have never been able to complete it. EA tech support is not much help either. They suggest running BF1942 from a clean boot without running anything else before. This does help. If I run another game, McAfee, Outlook, or Internet Explorer, before BF1942, BF1942 will crash constantly until I reboot.
The menu system is horrid. The server browser has very little filtering, no favorites, and is locked to 640x480. Some of the in-game player-player options are even worse. If you want to add a player to your buddy list, you have to open a text console, type game.listPlayers, scroll to find the player ID number that matches your friend's name, then type game.addPlayerToBuddyList #. Then, the the server loads a new map, you have to do the whole thing over again. The voting interface is the same way.
When everything is working perfectly, it is a fun game, but you'll need a beefy CPU, GF4 or newer gfx card, broadband, and find a server with pleanty of bandwidth (It's fairly common to see players jumping around from lag). BF is definately a resource hog.
