Review: I have a quite extensive history of gaming, online and offline. I'm no gamer freak, but I do play enough to know what I'm talking about. Basically, the only games that have remained entertaining are the ones for SNES, first-person shooters, and Max Payne. Without a doubt the best FPS (First Person Shooter) I have ever played is Counter-Strike. There's something about this intoxicating game...the engine, the way it is played, SOMETHING, that pulls you in and won't let go. Addictive and fun as hell, this game will have you screaming in an angry rage when you die in a one on one battle. Expect all the intensity of a thriller movie mixed with real-time strategy. To excel at this game, you need the perfect mix of no holds barred, guns blazing action and strategy/stealth. Counter-Strike is one of the best games I have ever played, for no reason other than it is the most fun. I can play for five hours straight. One thing that puts Counter-Strike on top of even other multiplayer functions of the Half-Life series, is the fact that getting kill(s) takes some skill, rather than busting into rooms and shooting the hell out of your gun blindly, blowing five people away. This won't happen in CS, you must learn to use each weapon to its full advantage and what equipment to buy for certain situations. Depending on who you're playing with, teamwork is extremely important. For example, if you're mission as Terrorist is to plant the bomb at a certain bombsite, it is almost crucial to organzie your team and plan to have the person with the bomb rush to the site and plant it while the other people guard the bombsite while he is planting. But the fun doesn't end there, you have to protect the bomb before it explodes, so as to not let the Counter-Terrorists defuse it. Other times your teammates don't really care about the mission objectives and just try killing everyone on the opposing team, which is still fun and requires some teamwork if you plan on staying alive the entire round.

Trust me when you stop you will want to play again even before you leave the room. You will stay up until 1:00 AM every night, because time means nothing when you play this. Just get it, it rocks!!!

Summary: Super Fun Game
Review: I have been playing this game for 2 or 3 years now and it is great. The only complaint I have isnt about the game itself but some of the rude people you will meet while playing this game. If you are new to this game dont use voice or bother looking at the text because some people will be VERY rude to you...try to play with people you know to get the hang of it. You will also find alot of cheaters out there that can really mess up a good game...if you get into a server that has cheaters just leave and find one that doesnt. On the other hand I have found some great friends through this game.....these are the people you need to be playing with until you get good....then go back and find the rude people and get your revenge.

Summary: Hard to Find an Equal
Review: First there was Half-life. A single player experience that was like no other, allowing for anyone with coding knowledge and the energy to change or mod it into something else. Counter-strike is well, THE mod, hands down, DoD and NS not coming even close. It's tough to find a gamer who doesn't know about CS or Half-life, so I don't have to go on and on raving about how good it is. This is an online FPS where you play with real people in different scenarios and maps (levels) with different objectives. Sounds are awesome, but there is almost no music because it's well, a realistic game to a degree, and it was (thankfully) left out. (Except the map Italy where a juke box plays some obnoxious music, which can be stopped by shooting it)
Mouse and keyboard are the best for FPS controls, better than ANY console has EVER done with a controller, hands down, no questions. Note now, that Counter-Strike is a STAND ALONE MODIFICATION for Half-life, if you want single player action, go play the original, this has a simple training course for new players, but is worthless as only playing against others will allow you to get really good. The system doesn't have a high spec requirement, don't worry, but if you're only 56K chances are you will lag alot, regardless of the rest of the machine. 512 meg RAM, 128 GeForce Vid Card, etc. running on a 56K or lower will result in horrible lag for that person. Meanwhile, a 96 meg RAM, 32 vid card with little available memory will run much better. I live in the eastern US, and yes I have done this, and yes I am right. Reasons not to like this game: Overhyped. I noticed that people that got the game thinking it would be good or ok, or bad found it to be awesome, while the others who thought it would be godly don't like it. Some people just won't like this game, and that's to be expected. Lag. Ouch. Sometimes this gets really bad. Especially on full 32 man servers. If this happens find a better server or hope it goes away. Hacks. Probably THE reason people hate this game. You can have a guy that has 70 kills and 4 deaths, whom everyone will think is hacking, and then a guy with 2 kills 100 deaths, whom no one will suspect of hacking. Sometimes...it's the guy that 2 and 100 that's the hacker. Sometimes, not all the time. There is the wallhack (makes walls transparent or makes enemies stick out) Whitewalling that gets rid of colors and shadows except for enemies, aim botting, speed hacking, ghosting which is talking on the phone or thru a mic on the pc with someone in a game with you that tells you where enemies are. There are anti cheat tools, and admins are usually around and smart enough to kick or ban those kind of people. Bad people. What people have to realize is this is the internet, so you have 13 year old loudmouths, racists, and people say what they want because you're playing through the game and the only thing that anyone can do is 1) Hunt you down or 2) get rid of them. 2 is the most popular choice. AWP/Camping. AWP, the sniper rifle, capable of taking people down in one shot, sometimes even through walls. A whole team AWP'ing is a destructive force, but a little cheap. (but that's what AWP maps are for now)
Hiding in a corner, or staying in one spot constantly is camping, and it's not a big problem, but there nonetheless. Counter-strike, an excellent multiplayer game, with no monthly fee. If you don't like playing on other servers you can take the money some games charge by the month and put it toward your own server, with Adminmod, which in essence makes you god of your server. Try it, play it, love it, if you like the FPS genre this is the game to get.

Review: First and foremost....THIS GAME ROCKS. It is simply the most addicting online experience u can get. plus it is pretty cheap, so u wont be saving up wads of money like you have to for other games *cough ut2k3 cough*
Pluus I am 11 years old. I know this game is rated mature but If your son/daughter/robot wants this game and u think it might be bad, trust me, if your son/daughter/robot is mentally stable and can handle a little blood it will be fine. YES there is some language but when ur engrossed in the game u usually dont find it to distracting. its not like HUGE letters popped up on the screen. its alittle section of the screen with text and plus if a perticualr guy/gal/robot is getting on ur nerves with language u can always just mute them. and there are some pronographic sprys but i havent seen one in a long time. alot of servers outlaw them, and even if htere is one u can just ignore it. all in all awesome shooter game buy it now...
