Summary: Buy it. Been playing since beta 5.4, keeps getting better
Review: dont think about it buy it. then download gamespy and i'll play you soon. the controls are the best setup ive seen and the player community is great. if you have a question you get an answer. lots of gun selection and great extras. and the other effects you'd have to buy it to enjoy it. anything else check out www.counter-strike.net. if you download you have to have halflife. if you buy this you dont need half life.i dont need to list some o the features cause other people already have. the nice thing is, is that you are playing against other people from anywhere.

Review: There are many people telling you that you need this game. I would say that I agree with them. What the vast majority of them are NOT doing is telling you why.The success of this mod, while not completely unprecedented, it probably is the most recent example of what a game engine can be: a tool that, in the proper hands, does more than the tool inventor ever invisioned. Counter-Strike is a game that is difficult to learn. There are many things that are new and unique to this game which explains why it is so popular. For example: you need to purchase weapons, you can not 'heal' yourself back to 100%, locational damage is good and bad, when you die you must wait until the end of the round to re-join the game. First time players who expect the mindless rampage of Quake will be very frustrated. Patience pays off. After an hour or two of play, an individual can maneuver the beautiful and balanced maps. The reason people flock to the game is that there is always something new to learn, plus when you are killed, you have an opportunity to break from the edge-of-your-seat action and chat (in-game) with the other dead players. It becomes both a gaming and a social event. The magic of this game can not be captured in words. Mona Lisa is a nice painting of a woman. Counter-Strike is a great game.

Review: I have been playing counter strike since beta 6.6 and i have loved it ever since.. I have tried all the first person shooting games.. None of them are like this. I have tried quake, unreal, half life, opposing force, i have even tried team fortress. Nothing tops counter strike.. If you are into games such as first person shooters, and you want action get this game. You will want to get your hands on this game.. If you get this game get on ... and play at there servers.. Review: Omg...I can't believe that i wasted my whole life on a game that costs only 20.00, well....its actually free in the beta stage so thats not much better. But if you can get a copy of this game, get it. It has to be the most widely played game on the internet today, maybe Diablo II is close, but nothing is near as much fun. My advice to you...BUY THIS GAME!

Summary: the best fps EVER
Review: i HATED first person shooters before i discovered counterstrike. the level of realism sets this game far and away from the stupid shoot-em-up, fragfest games of the past. You must think and work as a team when playing, rather than just shooting at anything that moves. Damage is much more realistic, changing with armor, distance, where you get shot, what you get shot with, etc. Also, all the guns are very realistic in their looks, and how they work. The scenarios also add to the gameplay. rather than just killing the other team you can win through such feats as rescuing hostages, bombing targets, or assassinating a VIP. The levels themselves are also ultra realistic, set in a variety of places from a militia compound in a canyon to an italian village. The money system lets you buy the weapons you use, so you can't just find some amazingly powerfull god-gun lying around. Also, you die once, you're out for the round. none of this respawning crap. deffinitly worth buying, or at least downloading.

Review: Ok,this game is the best multiplayer ever.IF you want to try it out, get Half Life and play the beta version(2-4 hour download)...Buy this game when it comes out or download it now,doesn't matter as long as you have it and are a FPS or Stratedgy gamer,you'll love it.

Review: ...this modification has continued to make a two year old game the most widely played game on the internet. what does that tell you? there is a semi-steep learning curve to this game, and it is very difficult to become great at, but it can be done with time. even with the frustration factor of this game being very high at times, it is still one of the most incredible games available to play. i am part of a cisco networking class, and one of the first things people in my class did was create a network and put on counterstrike. everyone in the gaming field knows about counterstrike. counterstrike is god. well, godly. anyways, buy it, download it, whatever, just GET IT.

Review: There is a review on this page that claims that CS is full of bugs and cheats. well, all games have cheats....all. even TFC has a fair amount of cheaters. CS is a well built game with great player models ,awsome weapons, and some of the best gameplay i have ever seen..i enjoy the game...and cant stop playing it.

Review: This game is extremely addicting once you get skilled and learn to handle the weapons. Counter-Strike is coded by one guy I believe, but it's so much better than most games produced by even the big name companies somehow. The netplay is pretty good for modems, and LAN play could keep you playing all night. There is a pretty good arsenal to choose from, all true to life... no rocket launchers, phasers or railguns here. The money system, which allows you to buy weapons and armor, puts a twist to the now 'old-fashioned' "pick any gun you want and go nuts" system. You gotta work with a budget if you or your team are getting hammered. It's a great game for a good price, pick it up.

Summary: Its a blast to play BUT.....
Review: Before you waste your $20 there are some things you should know: 1. The game is full of cheats. Because the game was 'Beta' tested by the general public there are lots of skin hacks, wall hacks, aim-bots and other cheats already developed to make your gaming experience rotten. 2. The game is buggy. Models are drawn wrong, people look like little kids wanding around the maps. Gun animations are mostly wrong. Guns have ammo bugs where they won't report the right amount of ammo. The rounds system has bugs where people can get money at the start of the round and you get nothing. Players can exploit non-player characters to position themselves outside of the map borders making it impossible for you to accomplish mission goal, or to even find them. 3. The game is a computer hog! Unless you have a spankin' new video card and a good processor and a good internet connection you will get the most frustrating gaming experience you can imagine. You will have problems connecting to server, the game will lag when people shoot, when people throw smoke grenades, you will get this annoying CL_FLUSHENTITYPACKET errors that will cause you to disconnect from the server. The Sierra/Valve Netcode doesn't work well either, which means you get shot behind corners and get killed by people you don't see. 4. The guns in the game have nasty recoil, terrible recovery times and in general, they are HARD to shoot anyone with. Which means it takes a long time to figure out how to shoot, and even then hitting someone requires luck! Now, someone might aruge that most of these will all be fixed in the 'official' release. But be aware that some of these items are intentionally put in (Items 3 & 4) while others have been around for SEVERAL betas and the mod maker has shown no interest in fixing them (Item 2). Spend your money wisely! Because I personally would never spend a cent on this game, even though I enjoy it for free because I own a real copy of Half-Life.
