Review: this is the worst experience i've ever had with any piece of software i've ever bought. I can't really comment on the game, because i've only gotten to play it for 5 minutes. When you first connect, you have to wait for the list of 8,000 or more servers to load, which takes 15 minutes on my cable modem. You have the quickstart option, which is supposed to take you to the best available game without loading the servers, but every time i try to connect that way, it takes twice as long to find a game that will keep me connected. So, when the server list loads, you have an ungodly number of servers to choose from with names like |xP04k|--clan-we0wnzU. ok.. whatever.. so i try to connect... everything seems to be working.. it says its scanning my hard drive for cheats.. ok.. now it's downloading a map that i don't have already.. ok.. that takes 5 minutes to complete.. ok.. now it's processing a beavis and butthead wav file.. hmm.. do i really want to hear that? well... i would like to play this game, so i wait it out.. another five minutes go by and.. finally, i get connected.. i can see the other people playing what looks to be a rather intense game.. and it asks me what team i want to be on: Counter Terrorist Forces, Terrorist Forces, or Auto Select. I choose Counter Terrorist. Ok.. looking good.. no, wait.. it's asking me what team i want to be on again.. Ok.. i choose Terrorist this time. Ok.. this is it.. i finally get to play.. uhh.. no wait.. it's asking me what team i want to be on again. hmm.. let's try Auto Select. a few seconds of uncertainty.. and yep.. its asking me what team i want to be on again.. Ok.. this time it's going to work i know it. I confidently click on Counter Terrorist and.. finally.. i get to the next screen.. where it gives me choices on what breed of Counter Terrorist i want to be. I pick the first one, because, being a newbie, i'm unfamiliar with the intricacies of how the game works... so.. looks like i'm connected.. they're in the middle of a round, so i have to wait until the next round starts, but i'm in spectator mode.. i get to move around like a phantom and watch everything... ok.. Terrorists win.. now i finally get to play! Ok.. it's asking me what team i want to be on.. hmm.. maybe its just because its a new round. I click on Counter Terrorists.. It worked.. now i choose the class of Counter Terrorist.. Yep.. it finally worked! i can see my team, and a little animation of myself cocking my gun! so, i follow my team down a hill and through a door.. and... black screen.. then i go back to the server info screen, and at the very bottom it says: player kicked by console. after i throw my keyboard across the room, i plug it back in, and exit the game. Think this is an isolated incident? it isn't. this is the same thing that happens every single time i've tried to play this game. i asked for some advice on a half-life forum, and the nice people there suggested that i was a "lamer n00b" or something like that, and the one real response i got said it was probably my computer. that isn't likely since every game i've ever bought plays just fine, and this game is older than most of the ones i've played. and besides that, half-life, and all the other half-life mods work fine for me. Counter Strike is the only one that gives me problems. but, they say there are 500,000 people playing this game at any given time. So it must be working for somebody. If you're feeling lucky, why not give it a go. it might work for you. it sure looks fun.

Summary: One Of The Greatest Computer Games in The World
Review: First Off, this is the best FPS in existance. The most interesting maps and a lot to do. The guns look real in the game, and you can't buy your favorite gun unless you have enough cash. To earn cash, you either have to stay alive the whoole round or kill people. I just got this game from a friend(you don't need the CD to play, Thank God) and im still a newbie. Usually its impossible to kill other people in the beginning cause they play this game 24/7. But since ive played my friends which are fairly good, i can actually shoot and kill people! My favorite level i think would either be de_rats, fy_iceworld, and de_dust. The only bad part about the game is that i had to download 100 MB of files just to update my game, which took me overnight to download cause i have 56k. But besides all the minor flaws in the game, its the best. I could probably play this game from sunset to sunrise. Well, g2g. Time to play CS!

Review: I have been playing counter-strike since the beta 7 came out. I have never played such an involving multiplayer game ever. Half Life Counter Strike is the best first person shooter out there, and it may even be the best multiplayer out there! You are not a gamer until you have played CS. In CS, you can play as either the Counter Terrorists (Police) or the Terrorists. The terrorists have to cause terror, by bombing a location or such. The CT's have to stop the T's at any cause. The ways to win are as follows: For CT's: Wipe out the entire Terrorist force or defuse the bomb; T's: Wope out the entire Counter Terrorist force. As fun as Counter Strike may be, it is not easy. Folks that play Quake 3 Arena or Unreal Tournament a lot will have trouble adjusting to CS. CS is a VERY tactical game. It isn't as tactical as Operation Flashpoint or Ghost Recon, but it requires plenty of strategy. Ways to get away from enemy fire may be to jump or duck. You can't excape bullets by strafing. The game is too realistic. The graphics are great, and may be the best graphics for a 1999-2000 game (besides quake 3 arena). The only thing I found bad about CS is the compatibility. Even though it says that 133mhz computers can run CS, it is not likely to, or if it does, it will not run well. I have a P3 500mhz computer and before i got my Radeon 8500, CS ran terribly. Dial up users should shun CS, for you CAN NOT run CS on a 56.6k modem unless the server is absolutely positvely running a t3 connection with no users in it. The best way to get good performance: ATLEAST 733 Mhz (unless have very good graphics card(450mhz or higher))

ATLEAST a GeForce 2 graphics card (I would recommend a Geforce 3 or 4 or a Radeon 8500 for slower computers)

Summary: Dont buy this actual game!
Review: Hey, this is a great game and all, but before i begin, let me tell you not to buy this actual game! This game is a modification of Half-Life, meaning, if you bought Half-Life, you could download Counter-Strike for free (not to mention other great mods like Day of Defeat :D) and you'd have a whole lot of games in one. When you get this game, be prepared for a MASSIVE responsibility. This game is CONTINUOUSLY updated, for example, the version right now is 1.3, and in a few months, it will be 1.4. You will have to actually download and update your version to continue playing this game. Same for Half-Life, you must keep it's version updated. Ok, now to the fun part. This game is so great, beware of its addiction factor. There are two teams, T's and CT's. Both teams have objectives on different maps, and they must fulfill them to win the round. To do this, real life weapons are used. These weapons include the H&K MP5, which you will learn to love, the AK-47, which you will learn to hate, and the Artic Warfare Magnum, which you will learn to despise. The Arctic, A.K.A AWP, is also referred to as the n00b cannon because of its ability to kill with one shot to the foot. It is a sniper rifle that is banned on most servers, but is still included on some. Even though the pistols are fun, most of them are pea-shooters. My favorite is the Glock, which I have oodles of fun with getting Headshots. The graphics are ok, they are pretty dated. But that isn't to say that the in-game models are bad, they're great. Weapon models and player models are wonderfully modeled and animated. The only reason the graphics are "Okay" is because of the dated Half-Life engine. Review: this game is very bad. After i installed it, my comp kept freezing and my comp isnt even taht old. I have only had it for twelve years. After i bought this game, i went out and downloaded morpheus and got it off this server. Dont waste your money on this game. It stinks.

Summary: Great fps...but a little under estimated
Review: Let me say, first off: this is a fantastic game for anybody who likes first person shooters. Maybe a little unrealistic (6 shots before dying, come on, be realistic) but very addictive. The good:
The great selection of weapons is fantastic. I personally adore the M4-A1 Carbine (kind of a rip off of the m-16) The graphics are pretty good. They could be better. The bad:
They say that the reccomended processer is 133 mhz. Come on!! I ran it on a 333 and the lag was un-playable. Then again I ran it on a 1 ghz computer and there was still some lag, but not much. If you want to play this game well and have a lot of fun, make sure your processer is at least 550 mhz. Overall...pretty good game

Summary: 5/7 as good as the first!
Review: Pretty good and well worth it. The 'Blue Shift' episode is not very good but this one is great; almost as great as the first. Many of the battles with the army are fantastic, set up in a clever way, and exceed the original.
If you liked the original "Half Life" you will like this and be happy that you bought it.
