Review: How awesome this game is. the graphics are some of the best I have seen in a pc game. The sound is even better. The uniforms of the soldiers are accurate. The Peagasis bridge level is the most spectacular level in a game ever, in my opinion. Just get this game.

Summary: Multiplayer review
Review: What hasn't been said about Call of Duty's single player? It is undoubtedly one of the greatest PC gaming experiences I have ever had, but this review deals solely with the multiplayer, which I have found to be one of the most frustrating, aggravating, and assinine experiences. It's obvious that very little thought or consideration went into the design of the multiplayer.

First of all, it doesn't matter what style of play you prefer, if you want to do well in CoD multiplayer, then you must be a sniper. All weapons, except possibly the submachinegun, crumble beneath the awesome might of The Sniper Rifle. The Sniper Rifle that is perfectly accurate with no bullet drop. The Sniper Rifle that has slow, almost imperceptible scope drift, even when standing up, and has a scope as steady as a rock when crouched or prone. The Sniper Rifle whose bullets are magically more powerful than other guns that fire the same round. The Sniper Rifle that makes sniping as easy as clicking on stuff in Windows. If you can point and click, then you too can be The Sniper.

Every map, save for the indoor ones or Carentan, quickly dissolves in a pixel-hunting Sniper Fest. You will experience many hours of sheer bliss hiding behind a rock, waiting for the enemy snipers to move a few pixels of their bodies out from behind their rock so you can dispatch them with a click of the mouse, or take great delight in picking off the foolish morons who did not choose The Sniper Rifle. Forget about such things as "going prone" or "managing breathing," in Call of Duty multiplayer, Sniper Rifles are like deathrays. No matter how much you bunny-hop or try to sidestep, you will get picked off from a distance by an unseen foe with frustrating regularity. In fact, there's no real reason to use the unscoped rifles or even the light machine guns, as you can just can run into the open, zoom in, pick off the enemy with childish ease, and then retreat behind cover and snipe some more. In this game, you'll get sniped with such frequency that you'll wonder if everyone is secretly using an aimbot.

On maps where snipers are less common, if you wish to do well, then you must choose The Submachinegun. It too, like The Sniper Rifle, is magic, as it can easily be fired while both running and hopping. Don't bother using the sights, just spray and pray and you'll probably get a random headshot that kills your oppponent instantly. Particularly offensive is the Russian PPSh, which possesses and extremely high rate of fire and a huge magazine, yet those who carry it move faster than those with any other weapon! There are other irritations as well, from grenades that are so weak as to make them utterly useless, to the fact that ammo is measured by rounds remaining instead of magazines remaing, which combined with the ridiculously fast reload times makes it extremely easy to simply spew rounds at your enemy with no regard to ammo conservation or accuracy. This isn't World War II, this is Quake with slightly less advanced weapons. When a player can get a kill/death score of 62/2 by simply sniping all day long, something's wrong. If you're thinking of buying CoD for multiplayer alone, then forget about it.

Summary: An awesome gaming experience!
Review: You will not be dissapointed in this game! This is a game that will really get you involved in the storyline and will make you think about WWII and the troops that were there. I found interesting similarities to various war films I've seen, most notably to 'Enemy at the Gates' (as mentioned in a previous review) and 'A Bridge Too Far'.

It's nice to have a game that seems to have a bit more purpose than just shooting everything that moves... That's not to say this isn't a violent game- We're talking about war here after all, but I really felt a new understanding on WWII when it was all said and done (especially after the intro to the Russian levels!!!)

I really don't think you'll be disappointed in this game.

Summary: I don't understand the hype with this game...
Review: This game is nothing compared to the latest Castle Wolfenstein. The multiplayer is good - I always get excellent, fast connections. But the game is real boring. No medics or alternate roles to play. Just shooting each other on and on into eternity. Yippee.

Summary: loved it
Review: I must say, i truly did enjoy this game to the fullest. however, for the $$$, the game was too short. MoHAA seemed longer. I can't knock the game in terms of graphics, immersion factor, etc....but it would be nice if "Infinity Ward" released a FREE expansion pack with a few extra missions, i know dream on but it should be done.

Summary: Shell Shock:Best WWII FPS EVER!!!! Still A Little Short
Review: This game is absolutely increadible. I've played all the WWII first person shooters, from Battlefield 1942 to MOH to Return to castle Wolfenstein, and this is absolutely my favorite. It's much quicker paced than BF1942, and much more realistic than Wolfenstein. The "aim down the sight" feature is a long time coming for first person shooters, and the "shell shock" is great. The only thing that kept this game from hitting 5 stars for me, was its length. I'm halfway done the game and I've only been playing for about 5 total hours. But don't let that stop you from checking it out. Also, for all you LAN party enthusiasts out there, This game has increadible multi-player support, and makes for really fun LAN party play. In short, this is the game that I wanted Battlefield 1942 to be. I cant wait for an expansion pack.

Summary: Excellent Experience
Review: I will not lie, this is nothing new, but so what?!! To compare it to MOH is like comparing my system to my old Apple IIc. This game looks and sounds like no other war game. If you are not impressed with this game then you will never be happy. I will agree that it is on the short side, and you do very little other then shoot Germans, but this is not an adventure game, it is a war game, and shooting Germans is what soldiers did in WWII. I wasn't expecting much more from it when I bought it. But this is just a review from an adult who likes video games.

Summary: Fun to play but nothing new
Review: I completed this game in about 12 hours over 4 days, while I enjoyed playing it and it had some great moments, like shooting down planes, holding a bridge, and a few tank battles, there was just something missing. I was just like MOH and the game became redundant after awhile. It has to many loading times between levels and should of offered more missions. This is a very good game but I don't think it's worth 50 bucks. I'd would wait for this game to go to 20-30 before buying.

Summary: The Quick and the Dead...
Review: I just finished this game and want to share the pros and cons (as I see it) so that you potential buyers know what to expect. The only thing I haven't done yet is play Multiplayer, so that could obviously change your outlook.

That being said...

Pros -
I was impressed with the game. The graphics, sound, and overall feel were incredibly well done. Whether popping off a stolen Luger or manning a stationary machine gun, the intensity was just plain sweet.

One particularly creative note was the timing of orchestral scores that slowly get louder as certain levels come to an end. For example, one level has you defending a bridge, (a la Saving Private Ryan), until reinforcements arrive. As your comrades' numbers dwindle to enemy fire and the outcome seems hopeless, this great violin piece chimes in. Truly, I felt like I was in the final scenes of a movie. Very cool.

The weapons, while not terribly diverse, are fun, and as far as I can tell, accurate for the time period. Grenades work better in this game than in any other I've seen, a nice change from the norm.

The settings and level introductions are nicely varied, ranging from parachuting into enemy territory to infiltrating an enemy battleship. And, like Medal of Honor, there is indeed a "tank" level. Kaboom...fun.

Cons -
A few times the A.I. would seem a little off. For the most part it was fine, but every now and then I'd see an allied soldier a foot away from an Axis soldier and neither were shooting at each other. I don't know about you, but I'm not terr finicky about that sort of thing. In general, the A.I. was quite impressive with their skills, so this is really just a minor gripe.

The only real gripe is that the game was rather easy and quick. I played on "Normal" and found several boards where I didn't die once, a rather strange occurance, especially non-dexterous skills. I'm not the most patient person, so it's not like I thrive on impossible levels that require hours of reloading, however I felt that all it went by just a little too fast. Honestly, I think this game took me less than ten hours to complete. Perhaps on my second outing of the game I can try it on a harder setting and maybe get a little more out of it.

Bottom line -
The four stars are basically saying that if you like 1st person shooters, and WWII shooters for that matter, you're most likely going to enjoy this. The quality is great, but the quantity could use a little more oomf. I'd suggest waiting until the price drops from the traditional "start" price of most video games before picking it up, that way you're sure to get your money's worth.
