Rating: Summary: Fun game...high system requirements...great graphics Review: Sound and graphics are first rate! If you play this game like Quake3 or UT2004, expect to die a lot. A steathier approach to confrontation (ala Thief or Ghost Recon) tends to be your best bet. However, combat in close quarters is pretty frantic (don't go through that door just yet when you open it...)Good attention to detail, like watching a mercenary through your long distance scope while he lights up a smoke and shakes the ashes. Plenty of conversation going on, just use your binoculars and ease-drop on people's diatribe. Hang gliding, patrol boat, jeep, hummer, life raft - this game allows you other means of travel (than walking or swimming). As the story unfolds, some of the elements will remind you of other already explored story lines (which we won't ruin here). While the FMV sequences tie the plot together, your in-mission objectives and actions blend fairly seamlessly into the storyline. Still, good game for those who enjoy the genre - with the ability to tone down the gore to boot. Multiple difficulty levels extend your replay value. Should hold your interest until Doom3 is out.

Rating: Summary: 5 stars, are you guys kidding! Review: Yeah, this games looks great. But this game ran on it's easiest level is next to impossible. Unless you have hours to spend dying and restarting in the first 5 minutes of the game. Save your money. It's better spent on something like PAINKILLER or UT2004. After reading all the reviews and then buying the game, I'm very disappointed.
Rating: Summary: Best FPS game I've ever played. Period. Review: Soooooo detailed. Such cool weapons. Appropriately challenging if you want it to be. Huge maps, based on non-linear foot, car, and boat travel (e.g. not like Medal of Honor and others). I don't play many games 2-3 times, but this one I did. If you like First Person Shooters, this is the best game out there. By far.
Rating: Summary: Astonishing Review: AI: This is the only area I can find fault with the game. When it comes to combat, I prefer to take out enemies at a distance, and it seems as though enemy troops are marching straight into my crosshairs. However, the AI improves tremendously in close quarters. Mercenaries behave like real humans in tight hallways. Creepy. Physics: Quite simply, this game sets a new standard for physics engines, those big piles of mathematical code that determine how objects in the game world behave. Human bodies behave like bodies... barrels roll down hill like round objects, objects bounce, slide, and tumble exactly as they would in the real world. The possibilities are endless. Graphics: Graphically, it goes without saying that the game is gorgeous. The screenshots do it no justice, it must be played to be fully appreciated. The water is breathtaking. Performance: The game runs extremely smoothly with all options set to max at 1280x1024 resolution on a 2.6 ghz P4 with an ATI 9700 Pro card, 1 gig of RAM. Overall: Of all the games that are out for PC right now, this is the one you should pick up first.
Rating: Summary: FarCry kicks Review: I recently bought FarCry from eBay, and let me tell you: This game is bad ass. Let me break this down... 1. The graphics are positively beautiful. 2. The AI is very realistic 4. The polymapping works great 5. The physics are well done I just wish they could have made boxes splinter, like HL2 will. Other than that, it's a great game. Being able to render the graphics to look cartoonish is fun, too. My review scores: --Graphics: 10 - The water is superb, as is the people and everything else --Sounds:: Voices: 9 - Sometimes, the voices sound a little strained. Sound Effects: 10 - Very Realistic Music: 10 - Changes to fit with the current events Overall Sounds: 9.6 --Map Layout: 10 - CryTech did a very good job mapping out the islands. Rating: Summary: 4.5 stars is more like it Review: This is the most immersive game I have ever played since Max Payne. It is hands down the most awe-inspiring, fun, great game in quite awhile. It is far from perfect though. If you don't have the absolute latest and greatest directx9.0 video card, don't bother, because you are going to struggle to run this game at acceptable frame rates. The game is also considerably difficult, which make for a frustrating 3-4 hour learning curve. That being said, Far Cry is the most graphically advanced game on the market, hands down, and I believe the first to use Microsoft's Shader Model SM 3.0, which requires a SM 3.0 compatible hardware. Right now the only video card that supports SM 3.0 is the new Nvidia 6800 series which is just now hitting vendors...ATI's new X800 series will not support SM 3.0 or the new features of Direct X9.0c. SM 3.0 is part of Microsofts new release of directx9.0c which is really like directx 10.0 since it includes new features that only DX9.0c compatible video cards can take advantage of. So, Far Cry is the most visually advanced game period, but u need the hardware which means at least a directx9.0a compatible video card. If u have the video card, go buy this game crank up the 5.1 or headphones and prepare to be amazed.

Rating: Summary: awesome game Review: This is one of the best PC shooter games to come out in a long time. It is a long game and can be quite difficult even at the "normal" level. The graphics, sound and action are great. It also is more that just a shooter since some strategy is needed to defeat the enemies at various levels, especially the more difficult ones. Be warned: The violence is quite graphic. The system requirements for this game are a little intimidating. I was afraid that it wouldn't run well on my system but the setup options are quite flexible so it is possible to get good results on low end systems. I have a 1.3 Mhz P4 with only 256 Mb of RAM and a 128 Mb ATI video card. I let the game set the video and sound options and it ran fine. However when I tried to set the video options for a more detailed display I ran into problems. If you like FPS games with a little strategy, great graphics and a lot of action this is the game for you.
Rating: Summary: The Current King of FPS Review: Superb graphics are just the frosting on the cake with this refreshingly well done shooter. Not since Half Life has a game includes as detailed or immersive an environment. From the get go, you are thrown right into the mix. The nuances are impressive: everything is laden with gorgeous textures, there are myriad small touches (a shark hanging from a fishing pier, schools of tropical fish swimming through the water, copies of "Evil Science" magazine lying on a desk in the lab). The levels are expansive to say the least. The game keeps coming and coming, and just when you think you've reached the end of the game, there's more. The setting does not get repititous, either - there is a well-balanced mix of gorgeous indoor and outdoor locations. There is dense, lush jungle filled to the brim with trees, bushes, grass, flowers... everything you'd expect to be in a jungle, really. Merc camps set in abandoned WWII japanese bunkers, rusted tank wrecks and aircraft frames, an old skeleton in an Imperial officer's uniform - even a beached shipwreck are all throw in just for eye candy. The lighting and environmental effects are easily comparable to anything in the bootleg Doom 3 E3 demo, including moving light sources, UV/Bump/Reflection Mapped characters/objects/levels, and internal and external cast shadows. In one sequence, I was lit from behind by a spotlight and saw my shadow being cast on steam I was about to walk through in a hallway. In many ways this game may exceed Doom 3's standard (although we'll see when the full version is released), especially with Far Cry's unprecedentedly flawless transistions between interior and exterior locations. And there's little linearity in the design here, either. Although some of the interior locations lead themselves to naturally channeling you in a certain direction I found there was almost always a different way to reach my objective, and sometimes as many as six or seven. The game requires a diverse mix of tactics to beat your opponent, from head on attacks to stealthy stalking. Others have given the AI high marks; let me elaborate on just how cool this AI is: Enemies call for backup on the radio or use smoke signals, use flanking maneuvers, encircle you, and even sometimes run away in fear if you surprise them. Enemies hear you, look for you, and use nightvision or other optics to find you. They use and shoot from cover and concealment. They are probably the best and most realistic AI I have seen in a shooter. I ambushed two mercenaries among a group of around ten who were coming around the nook I was hidden in. After dispatching them, two mercs lined up on either side of the door. One of them yelled, "Go!" to the other one, and then they bum rushed me with guns blazing. I managed to kill them first but only just, getting gravely wounded in the process. One of the remaining mercs then said, "Keep him occupied, I'll go for help" and shots start plinking off the corners of the nook. I heard a lot of movement, and then silence for several minutes. Maybe the troops might have wandered off? But, no... they set up a sniper on a far ledge to cover the door, and the rest of the team formed a semicircle around the entrance just to take me out as I emerged. And this was not a scripted sequence. One of the cooler features of the gameplay is being equipped with a pair of high-tech, long-range-microphone-equipped binoculars. Not only are they invaluable for finding your enemies, much of the exposition in the game is delivered through the conversations of your enemies as you peer at and listen to them through the binoculars. Not only do you get important information about the story, but the mercs seem to have a life of their own. I almost laughed myself out of my chair when I caught a pair of the mercs bitching to each other about the heat and having to pull guard duty. As others have mentioned, the major drawback is that you're going to need a high performance system to run this game. The game can also be glitchy at times, and a few crashes sent me tumbling back to the desktop; the lack of an in-game save made this troublesome because often times the automatic "checkpoint" type saves were a little far apart. Speaking of, a few of the savepoints happened right before a cut scene or before a long trip to a challenging area. I was occassionally frustrated by making it through a major concentration of enemies, getting close to my next objective (taking some fifteen to twenty minutes) and then getting killed within steps of the next save point by the last bad guy, forcing me to do it all over again. The bottom line, however, is: The plus sides of this game far, far outweigh the few trouble spots. I have not had this much fun playing a game since, well, Half Life. This game equals that title's detail and depth, with none of the "puzzle artificiality factor" (annoying jumping puzzles or the requirement to keep criss-crossing the same level over and over again to pull switches or press buttons). Its biggest strength is as a shooter though, and has more going for it there than anything out right now. I recommend it highly.
