Rating: Summary: Awesome Review: If your computer can handle it this game is awesome. I know for a fact that hardware upgrades make the game better as I went from a 9600 pro to a 9800xt and its amazing. p4 3.2 1gig ram 9800xt
Rating: Summary: Non-Stop Fun and Explosive Surprises Review: Wow! This is by far the best first person shooters to date. (Pre-Half Life2 and Doom 3 release) I am playing the full version and am a little over half way through and just cant get enough. This game has everything you need from graphics to story. Highs: As stated abundantly the graphics are insane! And whats great you can easily set the quality of the graphics to adapt to your machine. You can crank up the gore - very detailed! You can make the water look like your watching HDTV! Its insane. As you get farther into the game there are a lot of surprises. The kind of ones that make you jump out of your computer chair! Lots of popping out of nowhere AI's gotta love it. Shoot everything from pistols to rocket launchers. Drive boats, jeeps that are heavly armed, big armored rigs and even fly hang gliders to approach stealth - Its great fun. The maps and evnviroments are insanely fun to navigate. The maps are set up that in most cases there is no one way to solve a senerio making it much more real. And the scenery in many places has you stopping just to take in the beauty. The story line is great too. But its kind of a rehashed story from another great game ... um ... Ill let you figure that one out :) Its worth the money. You will never regret buying this one!
Rating: Summary: Awesome Graphics Demo... Review: ...but the game has to be one of the most frustrating first person shooters ever created. First things first: The graphics engine is awesome. This is easily the most beautiful game world ever created. This is true for indoor scenarios, but the engine is especially good with tropical outdoor scenarios. Unfortunately, the save-game system is the worst I have encountered in a long time. Not only is your only option to out-save at check points (which are few and far between and also inconsistant), but the game sometimes even ends up saving just before you get hit by a bullet. And you guessed it: Once you load the game, the bullet is right there again, hitting you in the face. Argh! (I read that there is a bug that fixes this problem, but I have not seen that available anywhere... V1.1 seems to have the same problem...) Can it be so hard to create a FPS game that is fun to play, simply by allowing me to progress through the game smoothly? This is now the second game within a very short period of time that I bought an UbiSoft game that was truely fantastic, but was made completely frustrating and useless by its save-game feature (XIII being the other). But perhaps I am asking too much if I expect some fun to come in the same box as great graphics...
Rating: Summary: Formidable FPS Review: Simply the best FPS I've played since Half Life. Outstanding AI, best landscaping, water, light effects I have ever seen. Unfortunately I can't even put the graphics settings above low because of the system requirements. Am running a 2.4 GHz P4 with 512m DDR RAM and NVIDIA GeForce4 MMX (64 m). If you are only going to buy a couple of games this year (already have my $$ ready & waiting for Half Life 2) and like FPS's, you'll not regret buying Far Cry!
Rating: Summary: Far Cry- the best gaming experience EVER Review: When I first picked up Far Cry, it was due to all the hype it recieved online, and through word of mouth. When I first played it- I was hooked for hours! I could not put this game down! It's the most beautiful, magnificent game ever made! It's got excellent gameplay, brilliant AI, the best graphics for any game EVER MADE and a great soundtrack! It's long too, over 20 hours of gameplay, not to mention it comes with a game engine that allows dedicated users to make their own games simply by point and click! What are you waiting for?! Get this game now! (please note however that you will need a top of the line gaming system to run this comfortably. To check and see if you meet the requirements go to Start>Run>type in: dxdiag>then see your stats) Do NOT play this game on minimum requirements! +Bottom Line+ AWESOME! THE BEST GAME EVER MADE!
Rating: Summary: Awesome graphics, solid gameplay, good fun Review: I'm having great fun with this game despite running it on a mediocre system that can't run the game in full graphical flourish. I have a 2.0Ghz P4, 512Mb RAM and an ATI 9800 (the base model, not Pro or XT) card with 128Mb RAM. So it's decent but hardly cutting edge. Despite the fact that of the eight customizable graphics settings, I have set four to "medium" and four to "low", the graphics are simply the best I've ever seen, on any game at any time. The sky looks absolutely real, the water has noticeable depth and shimmer, and the foliage is lush and crisp. The character models are great -- muscles bulge, clothing wrinkles, and blood sprays in a most vivid fasion. This game alone makes me want to shell out a few thousand for a bleeding-edge system. The game play is quite solid first-person shooter fare. There are no huge breakthroughs, though there are nice details like a stamina meter for running and holding your breath. The weapons selection is nice -- enough variety to keep you interested but not so broad that there is much overlap. The voice acting is a model of over-the-top action cheesiness, and the bad guys shout their lines with such enthusiastic machismo that you have to laugh. Fun stuff. The only gripe I have at this point is weak online play. Much of this is no doubt to my location in Asia, which leads to some horrible ping. But it seems I am not alone in thinking the multiplayer needs a bit of tweaking. I guess there is a patch coming out in June that will hopefully resolve some of these issues. Bottom line: Top-notch job on graphics and setting inject fresh life into the FPS genre. Well worth it, even if your system has to make compromises.
Rating: Summary: Great Game! And I'm No FPS Lover! Review: First: I'm not a big FPS (first person shooter fan), more of a strategy guy. Usually these games are too Doom-like (nothing personal, just gets old), the AI sucks, the storyline too dull or cumbersome (hate wandering around trying to figure crap out all day or stupid AI that hangs in the same spot for no reason). THIS GAME IS AWESOME! I agree with all about the graphics (outstanding), the plot is reasonable and you can have fun without getting burdened with b.s. puzzles. You don't have to go down a hallway if you don't want to (though there is a general direction you need to follow). Plenty of save spots too, though you can't save it anywhere you want. Swimming is a blast, underwater, above, nice terrain features. You can approach target areas from multiple directions or use vehicles. The vehicles are simple however - forward, back, turn. Not easy to master right away, especially moving fast. There are a few criticisms (hardcopy manual does suck) but I don't care -- it's fun! If you liked Medal of Honor, you'll love this more!
Rating: Summary: FarCry ...Best game I have played yet!! Review: Great game, great action and pure perfection describes FarCry!This game is HARD and not for the casual FPS player. The game runs smooth and full of eye candy graphics! Good job UBI Soft!!Do it again!
Rating: Summary: Highly enjoyable. Looks and runs good on my old GFTi4600 Review: That's GeForce Ti-4600 Graphic Card, released over 2 years ago. I can't put everything on high, but the game ran smoothly with the auto-detect the game did on my system. \The biggest thing I love about this game is the draw distance. If you play any game and say, "Oh look at how beautiful those fogs covering up the distance are...", well, you won't be seeing much of that here. Sniping is brought up to a new level with this game. Any other game, long distance is about 100 meters. This...is 10 times that distance. Using your binoculars aren't novelty item. You don't have to squint to see if what you're seeing through your sniping scope is an enemy or just a graphical glitchy-blob. Non of that. You zoom in, you can clearly see your enemies from far, faaaar away. It's a lovely feeling to be standing in one island and snipe someone on the other island a kilometer away, and watch him fall from the bridge he was walking across and into the water. Sweet. But the game's not all about outdoors. There's plenty of actions inside bunkers, warehouses, and cave systems. The graphic engine does all of them very nicely, and without any of them annoying load times between the transition that you might see on lesser engines. Oh, and there's the complementary rag doll physics that's pretty much a requirement for any self respecting FPS game. The AI doesn't leave much of an impression. Sometimes they're tough (unfairly so...they have perfect accuracy while traveling in a helicopter or in a boat), and other times they leave you wondering why they went right past you without shooting you. Suffice to say they do their job. The gripes. Driving - There's no emergency brake. No, correction...there no brake at all. You go forward and backward and...that's it. In between is what seems to be neutral gear, because when you're on a slope...your car rolls down. I've lost so many bugees and humvees that way. Would it be too much of a hassle for the car maker to install brakes?! Documentation - you get this 12 page flip book that's inside the CD CASE. Nothing else. Was there an online documentation? Don't know, don't care. I feel a good manual is a MUST in any game. That's it. Lots of pluses, few minor gripes.
Rating: Summary: Buyer beware Review: This game is extremely enjoyable. However, make sure your system can handle it. The minimum system requirements are not enough to play the game at a realistic level of performance. My PC is top shelf, but I still had to add memory and put gameplay video levels at a lower setting to avoid stalls and crashes. With that said, it is still worth it. There is a storyline but the manner in which you accomplish goals is up to you: stealth, miss-direction or straight agressive assault. The vehicles are very easy to control and add much to the options available in accomplishing a task. I highly recommend the game.
