Summary: Go, Go, Go!
Review: As head of a clan founded sheerly for JO, I should give it an astounding review. However, there are minor glitches in game. 1 is that even if you meet the system specs u may not be able to run the game.

Another is the vehicles. The jeeps are too weak, and the APCs are too powerful. The Helos are ok, but they blow up if u hit a tree, where as they should slice the tops off the trees.

Also, no tunnels? :( They were a standing point for DF:LW and TFD.

However, having said that, many people are wrong, you can assault a base on your own or in teams of 2 with only 2 conditions. Either:

THE BASE IS DESERTED
or
YOUR TEAM HAS SMASHED INTO THE ENEMY FLANK AND DRAWN THEM AWAY.......

:P

Summary: Followup Review
Review: First off i woulld like to aplogize to those of you who were fooled by the last guys review...
This game does not now and will never have anything to do with EA Games or the battlefield 1942 franchise. It is made by novalogic and is the next step in there sereis of their acclaimed counter-terrorism games; the deltaforce series. I would give this game a rating of three stars because the game is very fun and the vehichles add a unique twist on gameplay but very little seems to have changed since delta force black hawk down. The weapon models are exactly the same and their seems to be very little graphical improvement since bhd. otherwise the beta was very fun. I would say that this game is a definate must-buy for hardcore fans of the franchise but otherwise look out for the upcoming battlefield2 for vehicular and classbased tactical combat. The game will have all the classic deltaforce multiplayer matches including deathmatch, team deathmatch and king of the hill but the addition of the vehichles should make for an interesting change in tactics.Hopefully the singleplayer will be a littl less objective oriented and more open ended. For those of you who have not played the demo, download it from novalogic.com

Summary: Beats Battlefield In My Book
Review: First off, beat the system requirements for this game. You will start to lag around 60 players online on an Athlon 1.4 Ghz.

This is a rather realistic team first person shooter. Teamwork is a must for taking objectives. Don't play this game if you want a deathmatch online experience. Team Deathmatch is included as gametype but it can become frustrating since death can come in so many forms and you rarely expect it.

The vehicle physics are very forgiving. I've driven off two cliffs in a Humvee and the vehicle suffered only minor damage. Getting around trees usually involves simply a small twist of the mouse. Forests are easily traveled through in anything but the light armored vehicles. Helicopters are essentially flying jeeps. Don't expect to pull off any crazy stunts or maneuvers. Most vehicles require two people, one to drive and one to fire. Only the attack helicopters can be piloted solo.

Weapons have very good ballistic models. You'll have to range find first if you're going to be a sniper. Automatic fire causes your gun to climb.

I love the realism in the game. City battles are tough and fast. The only annoying bit is that snipers can easily mow down a spawn point. You'll usually die just trying to get the sniper. Tanks sometimes take too many anti-tank rockets to tank down. Sometimes it'll take just one, other times three.

Buy this game if you want a dash of realism but you also want good team play. You'll also get more than just your one life in CS.

Summary: w00t!
Review: I am a long time gamer, and big fan of Battlefield 1942 - Desert Combat in particular. I have to say it is nice to finally see a game that makes you work for it! The maps are giant, so big infact that it would take you an hour just to walk across it! Through in that bad a$$ little helicopter with the missles, OMG it is amazing. The experience is very similar to Battlefield but with the Black Hawk Down feel in it. I personally think this is a close to real combat that PC Games have come.

Summary: Novalogic Does it right this time...
Review: I don't know what some people are whining about on the forums. This is a darn good FPS. I played it for about 5 hours yesterday and for a 1CD game, I was surprised at the level of the graphics and content from this game. Novalogic has affiliated themselves with NVidia and this is a bit of a dissapointment for me because I use an ATI GC and I work at ATI, but even on my ATI 9800 Pro, the game looks sweet and runs like butter. I was also impressed with the level of control and realism in this product. For example, you have to calibrate sniping distance using binoculars and then adjusting your crosshairs accordingly. The mortars, grenade launchers, etc.. work off the same principles.

The foliage is rendered brilliantly, even better than BF Vietnam, and I love BF. When shells or bullets hit water, the effect is simply amazing. Flying around in the copters was a lot easier to learn than in BF or Desert Combat. Novalogic decided to keep the flying vehicle controls simple and this is fine with me. Also, it took a bit of an adjustment to get used to the controls, but trust me if you do thee training missions, they become a snap to learn.

Try the demo out and then decide for yourselves if it is for you. Don't listen to too many critics...this game is top notch. Hey, remember how many patches BF1942 had to go thru to get it to what it is today? And yet it still ended up getting Game of the Year awards. I think this one has a lot of potential too.

Summary: Beta review...
Review: I played the beta for this game and have a few things to report...

First off, I am as excited as the next guy to receive the next generation in the Battlefield 1942 genre. Unfortunately, the beta did not meet my expectations.

The graphics are on par with BF mods like Desert Combat (which you can download free at their website of same name); there are slight improvements to graphical elements like water and particle effects, but nothing that would wow you (like Far Cry).

The real standout feature for me was the way the game moved away from roaming the map for control of points (or as in BF, "tickets") and towards a more linear model. Everyone fights for the same spawn point. This makes for interesting and very intense battles with essentially all the hardware and personel focused on one point.

As I understand it, the publisher will go to market with slightly better graphics, which is of course a good thing; but in light of Doom 3's impending release, and the availability of free mods like Desert Combat, I'm afraid they might need to do more than that to get a leg over this market.

Summary: Good game, but keep this in mind...
Review: If you have a 56K connection and you're contemplating spending $40.00 or more for Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising, let this be a warning to you.

If you read the game packaging you'll read the following: "Gigantic MAPS. Battle it out with up to 150 players on maps larger than 50 square KM - never before has a real time war been duplicated at this scale. Breakthrough technology allows you to play on a 56K connection as 'smooth as silk'."

You'll also notice on the system requirements: "Internet play: 56K Internet connection required to play. Broadband (Cable or DSL) connection recommended for server hosting."

Here is your warning; don't believe what you read! It will not run "Smooth as Silk" with a 56K connection. You will be warping and jumping all over the map. If you think that you'll have the same game experience as you did when playing Black Hawk Down online you will soon get a major dose of "what the heck is going on here!".

I made my purchase decision based on the first Joint Operations demo. That game Did play "Smooth as Silk" if you had a 56K connection. Little did I know Nova would mess it up.

So you have a couple options:

1. Wait until you have a broadband connection before purchasing the game.

Or

2. Spend $40 (or more) to play the 13 pathetic training missions and then put the game on a shelf and go back two playing Black Hawk Down.

With that said, I finally got a DSL connection and I really enjoy the game. In fact If it wasn't for some very minor problems, it would get 5 stars.

Many people complain about the game play, but a lot of problems come from the players themselves; they don't use "TEAMWORK" which is a must in this game; Rambos need not apply! If you don't work as a team, you won't get much out of it.

See you online - NAVSPECWARCOM (player name)

Don't say you were not warned.

Review: ive had the game for awile now. you need to patch if you own.

graphics: incredible, nothing like sitting inside a helicopter and see the heat off a rpg that passes by your face while going thru the open doors.
you can disapear in the foilage very easily.
very large viewable distance.

weapons and vehicles: very good balance.

gameplay: you must use exceptional tactics to get anywhere.
with that being said:
you can play every style of fps in this game.
you can play how you would play in R6, CS, ghost recon, you name it.
you can choose to be a sniper and really use stealth. or be a rifleman and co-ordinate a take over. or be silent and infiltrate an area and kill without ever giving away your location.
the game is what you make it.

downfall:
you must work in teams.
solitary killing is alright. to get the serious kills you must work as a team.
you have to use tactics. run and gun gets you killed. you cannot run into the middle of a open area and expect to NOT die. you have to think about your movement, your cover, your place in the overall motion. and especially your enemy. you have to know what he/she is doing, thinking, planning.
you have to bring your ability to the next level of thinking.

this game is better then all of the fps out right now because the number of players (150) adds a element that is hard to define but is understood once you enter an area with 75 badguys trying to kill you. and you have to wonder if you packed the right gun.

Summary: Not Perfect, but still tons of fun
Review: Joint Operations is by no means a perfect game, desipte all of the hype. It is clear right from the get-go that this a battlefield compeititor. In some cases, Novalogic succeeds in creating a better Battlefield game, in other areas, it fails.

Joint Ops is set in the near future when a UN task force made up of special ops forces from all over the globe respond to an uprising in Indonesia. The story doesnt matter much, since there is no single player game other than the excellent training levels. Other than that, the entire game is played online. Now to the pros and cons:

Pros-
Excellent ballisitc models
Vehicles are easy to use - so easy that they put BF: Vietnam to shame
Vehicles include helicopters, zodiacs, patrol boats, and jeeps/humvees (the list goes on)
Multiple classes of soldiers to play as, each with unique abilities
Gargantuan maps, can take a long time to get across
Advance and Secure mutliplayer mode is a blast

Cons-
Frequent deaths, and 90% of the time, you won't see your killer
The massive 150 ppl servers can get a little too laggy to play. Stick to 80 or fewer ppl.
All to easy for snipers to camp at your spawn point and pick off ppl as they spawn and try to fly away in helicopters.
Only two vehicles allow you to fly and shoot at the same times.

In conclusion- JO is by no means perfect. At the same time, you will find yourself being drawn back from more of it's action packed gameplay. Novalogic succeeded in creating a Battlefield equal, but not a superior.

Additional Notes -
You MUST have broadband. It says that 56k will work fine. It doesnt.
I ran the game on low settings with a Nvidia GeForce 2 MX/MX 400 with nary a stutter. On a newr card, such as the Nvidia 6800 Ultra, the game looks SPECTACULAR.
Have at least a GeForce 2 or an ATI 7500.

Summary: Joint Ops=Tons o Fun
Review: Joint Ops is the best online multiplayer game i've ever played! I love the easy contrnls that they usually don't have on alot of the other computer FPS games.the vehicles let you go anywhree really easily, and just about no one cusses in this either(a huge problem in other games, not to mention annying).only problem is that rebels have a downside to thier weapons because im a sniper.and there are a lot of gliches in this game like when you press shift to get out of a helicopter gun or seat and you fall out the bottom of it.but the weapon variety is huge and the vehicles are so easy to control. The grphics are so good compared to most, and the game runs smoothly later on.This is a definite 5 star game from Novalogic.
