Rating: Summary: Great Game Review: If you like interesting, non-violent, adventure games, then this is a must have. It starts off by giving you a run down of discoveries made with the real Sphinx and Pyramids and then pulls you in to make this one of the most "real" feeling games I've played. With many games I have gotten stuck and frustrated trying to find solutions to puzzles that are not logical, but in this game everything seemed to flow beautifully. Whenever I got stuck I would just go back and explore again, and see things I hadn't the first time. The only downside to this game is its primitive graphics. Though good, it could have been much clearer and more advanced. This game has problems on PC's with the minimum requirements, yet doesn't do well on very fast machines either. Thankfully I was able to use a friend's 333 pentium and it ran just fine then. The music is occasionally intrusive and annoying as well. Overall, though, I'm glad I got it, and it was worth the cost.
Rating: Summary: Great puzzles, mediocre interaction Review: This is one of the best games puzzle-wise, that I have played in a long time. Most of the puzzles were just right; and they made a lot of sense, unlike some games I've played. The puzzles made it worth the problems and playability issues we encountered. I was disappointed with the controls and the bugginess of the Windows version. There are a lot of 'empty' screens to click through. Although a 'warping' feature is provided for faster movement, it is often confusing. Also, the habit of the camera 'helping' you out by turning a corner for you can be very disorienting, especially in a maze area. Despite loading the patch and following the instructions for the sound, we often played without sound (which makes it difficult to determine the outcome of a puzzle and whether it was solved if the cue is an aural one. The end of the game hinges on sound as well, and we eventually played the audio file directly off the CD in order to hear it. A little QC / playability analysis and debugging would have gone a long way and made this a 5-star game in my book.
Rating: Summary: Couldn't get it to run Review: I bought this game because so many were saying how great it is. Well I had problems right off with sound and the computer freezing. Now this was weird as I have a new Dell 8100 pentium 4. So I went to Dreamcatchers site on the web only to find out that my processor was too fast. I had to turn the graphics capability down so low that it was impossible for me to see anything but grainy shots and it still froze (although I did fix the sound problem). Probably a great game but not for the super fast computer.

Rating: Summary: A Good, first person adventure Review: _Riddle of the Sphinx_ had a lot of what I look for in an Adventure game: believable (or at least internally logical) plot, good graphics, challenging puzzles, and a conclusion that both ended the game and set up a sequel without being too obnoxious about it. My main problem was that _Sphinx_ crashed for no apparent reason about every 20 minutes, and despite numerous contacts with tech support I never did solve this problem. So watch out for that! The interface was a bit clumsy. You tended to accumulate a bazillion inventory items which you then had to lug around for the rest of the game, even when they were no longer of use. It would have been nice if some of these disappeared after a while. The music was a little repetetive. And there was virtually no character interaction, so if that's something you look for, you'll be disappointed. Also, gameplay is only non-linear to a degree; certain things do have to happen in order. However, this was one of the better games I've played recently!
Rating: Summary: You can make a career out of this Review: I guess I'm not cut out for the gaming life, emphasis on life. I got stuck in the guy's tent which turned out to be less than 1% of the whole game. Luckily, I found a walk-through on the Internet (nineteen single-spaced pages) and I'm glad I did. Otherwise, I'm sure I would have quit after weeks, if not months, of frustration. It amazes me that anyone could conquer this without a walk-through. They should be working for the NSA. But the work that went into creating this game also amazes me. I don't know how this one compares with other games but I was sure impressed with the graphics, sounds and just the "feel" of it seemed right.
Rating: Summary: RIDDLE OF THE SPHINX Review: Riddle is a beautiful rendered game especially for pyrimidologist. Be prepared for some tough puzzles but the effort is worth it. Riddle takes you to Egypt and the pyrimids and with the lights low and the quiet of the night you can start to believe you are there.
Rating: Summary: rots is a bad name Review: recently finished this. what a surprise. I figured it would be a cheapo to do while waiting for exile. in reality, it turned out to be better; in fact, better than any point and click puzzle game i have done other than riven. regarding graphics, rots has some pretty pictures, but they are slightly grainy and washed out, especially at the 360 panning points, which, on at least one occasion, makes objects difficult to see. colors are not as fully saturated as in some other games. at no time, however, did i have problems with a dark screen, and i never had to turn up the brightness from average. the settings are appealing. some of the chambers inside the pyramid are stunning, while others are "primitive". included are underground cisterns, rivers, burial chambers,a maze, and an oasis surrounded by palms and temples. the pyramid has its own little observatory. the puzzle quality is excellent. while some of the ideas are "borrowed" from myst (rotating rooms, constellations, sliding balls, model ships surrounded by eight columns, rings of stones to be pressed in order), they are applied in an original manner, so you cant get by on what you found in myst. theres lots of exploration and pick-up objects, with hints from scrolls. i found none of the puzzles to be far fetched; as a matter of fact, most can be solved by finding the solution rather than having to figure it out. the little book (libretto) that comes with the game gives hints by showing the rooms. if you havent found one, you need to go back and look for it. its possible to die at several points, so judicious saving is necessary to prevent having to do large sections over. there is one bad point which causes rots to be downgraded to four. while it was ok on os8.6, on os9.1, it jammed repeatedly. the patch did not help, so i called the #, where they told me to turn off the ATIs in the extensions manager. this allowed the game to run perfectly, but was a minor pain in the a every time i wanted to play. in summary, an entertaining and challenging game that is worth much more than the price asked.
Rating: Summary: Why did they make this game? Review: I have played this and other like it . I don't like this game becuase there is no interaction and it's hard to move around . I also found it hard to save a game bcause it would put the saved one undera diferent title. If you have played games like this before don't play this one. I liked Dust tale of the wired west bettr than this one. The dreamcatcher people needs to more games that are interactive.
Rating: Summary: Riddle of the Sphinx! Review: I thought that Riddle of the Shinx was a great game. I'd say (in my favorites list)it is up at the top with Myst and Riven. I espesialy enjoyed the twist at the end with Gil. I'd rate this 9 on a scale of 10. It was very challenging, there are many ways you can die. I also thought it was pretty strange how their are no tourists around the pyramids or the sphinx, but it may be because Gil's team was exavating them. But in all it has taught me many things. I finally know what is hidden in the Sphinx!!!
