Rating: Summary: Didn't Indiana Jones do this once before? Review: A weak storyline and choppy graphics make this a very disappointing game. The Egyptian setting is used as a mere backdrop to unrelated puzzles and nonexistant character development, all leading up to a hackneyed, Judeo-Christian conclusion. Luckily, I did not pay full price for this game, but I still feel somewhat cheated.
Rating: Summary: Excellent game Review: Excellent exploration/puzzle game, non-violent. Accurate reproductions of the interior of the pyramids and lots of extra exploration and tons of puzzles to solve. The graphics are great too! I hope there is a sequel or something very similar out soon!
Rating: Summary: In the Eyes ... Review: This game is most mind challenging game I have ever played. It is worthy to receive a 5 star request. I spent hours on the game every day and in about a week worth of playing I had it figured out and got into the sphinx. I opened the ark too. i still have fun playing the game over and over. I love the great graphics it contains and how intence your mind focuses on it. i would like to say that the over all game was a fun and great game. Not only was it fun it had alot of historic information. One thing that I learned was that the sphinx was created before the Egyptians came and how they took the head ofg the Pharoe and stuck it wear the spinx's head was. That was very interesting to me. I hope that I can find another game so I can relive that same expearience from the Riddle of the Spinx. In closing I would like to saw that the creator did an awsome job on the game.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely SUPERB! Review: I liked it better than any of the Puzz 3D cd puzzles I played. There was a mystery every time you played. The middle east is probably one place I will NEVER visit but when you play this game you feel like you are there living it. The beauty of the artwork and genius of the Egyptians was stunning. Would recommend.
Rating: Summary: Myst-type game, good value Review: I liked this game very much -- lots of hours per dollar of entertainment. Plus: * Able to explore lots of different environments, most of which are rendered with good graphics. * You learn a little about ancient Egypt. * Puzzles are fun and not terribly difficult (with perhaps one or two exceptions). * Nonviolent. Minus: * Lame ending. * Minimal interaction with other characters -- not much of a plot. * Some puzzles require very tedious, repetitive actions.
Rating: Summary: Riddle of the Sphinx Review: What a great game! People interested in Egypt will love it. Graphics were great, problems ranged from easy to really hard and had me thinking of solutions all day every day until I got through the game. Thankfully not blood and gore stuff so even kids could get involved. I've been busy trying to find out if a ROTS 2 game will be produced! Be prepared to gasp in awe at what you find in this game!
Rating: Summary: Too bad Review: Okay, the graphics were nice, the music was dreamy, but this was an incredibly boring game. I almost quit the game during the cheoptronic sequence. Going through that long tunnel for days was unecessary and incredibly booooooooring! I don't mind a puzzle game being difficult but don't bore me to death. I hope Atlantis was better than this. I'm going to try that. It's a shame programmers spend all their time and talent making beautiful scenery and tantalizing puzzles and make the in between stuff so boring you want to quit the game before you finish.
Rating: Summary: disappointing and offensive Review: Disappointing because the graphics were often beautiful and the premise interesting, but the technical glitches were too much to bear. Simple navigation was a disaster, the attempt at 3-D didn't work. Offensive because the authors insist on putting their religious beliefs into their printed writeup.
Rating: Summary: Solid adventure game, albeit a bit outdated Review: Riddle of the Sphinx is a Mystlike adventure game set in Egypt. You are summoned by your friend, an archaeologist to his newest dig. But when you arrive the camp is deserted, and you must uncover the mysteries of the great pyramids (or at least a couple of them). Riddle of the Sphinx offers solid game entertainment. The graphics are beautiful, the puzzles logical. Puzzles varied in difficulty, but it is reasonable to expect that most people should be able to solve them if they try hard enough. There are a few which escaped me because I didn't search rooms throughly enough and missed vital clues/items to pick up. Most of the time you point and click your way around, picking up objects and using them every once in a while, typical adventure game style. The navigation is not as elegant as available in today's 3D rotational viewpoint adventure games (Beyond Atlantis, for instance), but this is forgivable. Inventory management is a little less than graceful (items can go back to where they started out at if you're not careful), but acceptable. A word to the wise: save. There are a few points in the game where you can die. These were not enough to annoy me. The game suffers a bit from crashes, but overall was much more stable than instable. Riddle of the Sphinx is not the best adventure game I've played--it could use more personality and the plot failed to involve me--but it definitely ranks high up there. I would buy other games from the same developer.
