Summary: Comments and facts
Review: Final Fantasy 8 has got great graphics. It can utilise hardware acceleration for better 3D animation. However, the game is slow especially in the overworld. The game doesn't work well with 3D card based on GeForce chipset because you will have to download the 9.8MB patch from Squaresoft. Disc 1 is great but the rest is not that great. Another thing about the game is that damage is always so high in any of the battles.

Summary: Lacking for such a great RPG series.
Review: I was quite happy to see the designers actually made the characters look realistic. And the Guardian Force summons look amazing.

But two things sorely disappoint me. First is the fact that one must acquire cards in a boring, frustrating game (cards which will later be converted into various objects) in order to have a chance of winning at all. For a "side quest" it's ridiculous.

Worse yet is what I've had happening on my computer. Whenever I change screens (i.e. go from one room to another), there's a momentary lag. If the characters are moving, this can even cause the computer to freeze altogether. A few times, this has happened when I haven't done a thing (like when Squall is sleeping). I expected a solution on the website. Alas, there is none. Very poor support IMHO.

But I liked the story and characters and sfx associated with the magic. Hence it gets a moderate grade.

Summary: A terrible, terrible port...
Review: This game is good on the PSX, but it can't even compare on the PC...reasons:

1. Bad control set-up and no mouse 2. Ported fonts...blurry and blocky 3. Blurry backgrounds 4. Blocky graphics requiring a high memory video card 5. Terrible MIDI music... 6. Boring, linear gameplay compared to other PC RPGs

The PSX version has none of these flaws...

With that said though, this game is still somewhat fun. Worth a try, but PC RPGs are so much better than this port.

Summary: Good, but not as good as 7
Review: This game is really good. Has a excellent story-line (which has made the Final Fantasy series so famous). Over all I give the game four stars, the fifth star I gave because it comes with a seperate window program called, "Chocobo World". They have FF8 for the American Playstation but they do not have Chocobo World (it is, however, sold for playstation in Japan). That is why, in this case, it is better to buy the P.C. version. If you're wondering what Chocobo World is, Chocobo world is a "gigapet" type game in which is in a small window so you can play it even when your online!A bonus you get from Chocobo world is you can find items in it that you can't get in FF8! But the downside is that it could take a while. Well, I hoped this review helped you. And go ahead and buy it, it's worth every penny!

Summary: Another nail-biting chronicle by Squaresoft
Review: Final Fantasy VIII is the type of game that is going to make you argue with your parents quite a lot. Many were the times when I heard my Dad's voice calling from upstairs,"Tom, go to bed it's one o'clock!". The fantastic plot complemented by the amazing graphics make it a game for all ages. It's not one of those gory, bloody shoot-em-ups and it's not a boring adventure game. It's a mix of adventure and puzzling puzzles and magically gripping fights that keep you on the edge of your seat to see whether the spells that you cast will work the way you want them to or not. But what is best about it is the amazing plot. The sad moments and the happy ones, all portrayed with the excellent video graphics that keep you wondering if this is real life or made-up graphics. This game is truly a great one and I would have paid double the price to play this game for it's not one to miss.

Review: I think this game is great, the storyline 5 stars, the challenge 5 stars, Music 4 stars, Side quests 4 should have more sidequests,GF's 5 stars, and Cinemas 5 stars. I think you should really get this game and it is worth more than the price.

Summary: Another FF smash...
Review: This is another good FF game, but it didn't appeal to me as much as FF7 did. The game has excellent graphics and movies and support for all video cards, but I liked the gameplay in FF7 better. What I got most hooked on in the game was the mini-card game. Its very fun and you can get items for obtaining certain cards.

Like in FF7, FF8 has an excellent storyline in which Squaresoft does best anyways. The Junction Battle System didn't appeal to me as much though. There are Guardian Forces you must collect in the game and you must junction to one to get even the most basic commands. Furthermore, you must find rare items and magazines to get upgrades on your weapons.

It is also the wierdest FF game i've played. Usually in RPGs you get a whole bunch of experience for defeating a boss. In this game, you get no exp for bosses or certain enemies. Also, money is salary based in this game. You won't get a single penny from the wandering monsters.

All in all, another smash hit FF RPG!!!

Summary: BUY THIS GAME!!!!! YOU'LL LOVE IT!!!!!
Review: This is a truly remarkable game. Don't mind the controlls you'll gett used to them. If you dont you can just customize them later. In this game you cannot use most of the controlls you could normally use. The only keys you can use are the letters. Yeah, that sucks.

The game has wonderful battles though. Also, like its ancestor FF7 (although a little bit better than FF7) this game features wonderful movie graphics. The regular graphics are ok... But they lack in quality. It's all right. If you have a good computer, like a Pentium 4, the graphics should not be a problem.

It has an intense storyline that makes me forget time and play for hours. You WILL love this game. Please take my word for it. BUY THIS GAME!!!!! YOU'LL LOVE IT!!!!!

Summary: Fantastic, Amazing, Intriguing, and Great!
Review: This is a very good game and I'd recomend it to anyone, even if they don't like RPGs, this one will change their mind. True, some things do suck, like the music. The music is just sort of little tunes playing in the background. A lot of times you won't notice there's even music playing. Not all the music sucks, though, the Final Battle music was probably the best in the game. Sometimes the same song will be played over and over again, like the same song plays in both Winhill and FH, and thats the most annoying song. Anyway another thing that needs improvement is the characters. All the characters are exactly the same (except Zell). You can't really tell the difference between them, except their appearences. You won't learn hardly anything about the other characters, the story mostly concentrates on Squall and Rinoa. You never learn anything about the others except whats said in disc 2. Which sucks because after a while Squall and Rinoa get boring. Those are really the only 'bad' things about the game that I can tell. The game is really a lot of fun. It's my favorite Final Fantasy game. The towns are bigger, but there's fewer. Oh yeah! The card game, Triple Triad...that's the thing that will take up A LOT of your time. Which is ok, because it's so much fun. Some of the rules don't make any sense and you'll get really frustrated when you lose one of your favorite cards because of the damn random rule. The cards are all different and have pretty little pictures of whatever kind it is. Triple Triad is much more fun than that other card game in FF9, even though it's a little harder. Yes, the GF animations get really old by the third disc. Some of them are kinda fun to watch. I'm glad the stupid materia system and MP crap is not in this game. I don't care what everyone else says, drawing magic and then using it is much easier than using ethers...or whatever restores MP. The chocobos aren't as much fun, but look much better than the ones in FF7 or FF9. Damn, I haven't said anything about the graphics, all you need is one word...Amazing. Just by watching the opening movie you'll be amazed. The characters look more realistic, instead of the screwed up bodies. Wow! They actually have mouths and noses! The little cinemas that come in every now and then are absolutely beautiful. After you watch one, you'll want to be able to see it again. This is definatly a great game, but if you have a busy schedule, you probably shouldn't get it, you'll want to keep playing and forget what your supposed to be doing. The game is worth your money and your time.

Summary: THe Best RPG in gaming history!!!!!!!!
Review: This has the best graphics! The game is superior! The people look human, and they all have a life. In Final Fantasy VII, they look too cartoon. In IX, Zidane might as well be a monkey. In VIII, they look human.
