Rating: Summary: The Best game I've ever played! Review: This Is the the best game I've ever played. The plot on FF8 is beautifully made. The price is exellent for the games quality. Though some problems are that if you dont have at least a pentium 2 processor 266MHZ and 64MB of ram and 4MB of video ram the game is going to go very slow. The graphics on this game are way better than FF7. And the sound is the typical MIDI.
Rating: Summary: Lots of text but still great Review: When i first alid eyes on ff8 i fell into a dream of great graphics good control interesting system and a wonderful plot. For those of you thinking of buying it DO IT NOW! i cannot stress how good it is wonderful animations over an hour of movies all beautiful and best of all 7 new characters. The game takes you from a civilized palace to an enslaved city to an underground desert dungeon into space and back. 10 times better than ff7 which was also my 2nd favorite game(p.s. the game is so good I own it for computer and playstation and i'm only 14 with an unsteady source of income). in turn do yourself a favor and buy FF8 you won't regret I promise
Rating: Summary: One of the best RPGs ever! Review: I think that Final Fantasy VIII is one of the best RPGs ever! It has really good graphics and an excellant storyline. You really need to have a gamepad to really get good control. Also, if you have a recent graphics accelerator, it runs really smoothly. Make sure that you have a card that supports 8 bit palletted textures, or else all the menus are messed up. Over all, this is one of my favorite games! A must buy!
Rating: Summary: The Best Game I've Played Review: There's not much I can say for a game as perfect as Final Fantasy 8. The story line is outstanding and as you play you get to know how each character thinks and feels. The graphics are better than any of the other Final Fantasy games and the music fits perfectly. Theres tons of "side quests" that you can get into along the way and there's also a card game that you can play. The story is based on a theme of love which makes it perfect for people 10-20 years old. You get to know the main character soooooo well you might even know what he'll say before he does! It's VERY hard not to fall in love with this game...no...this masterpiece.
Rating: Summary: Extremely Bad Plot+Too much dialogue=1 Bad Game Review: When I originally saw the demo for this game I figured it would be the best in the series. Boy was I wrong. I have been playing Final Fantasy for a while and always thought that they kept getting better and better with time. That is until I played this latest version. This game had an extremely dull plot (unless you are 10 years old) that was translated horribly into english. The characters are just too dramatic for my taste. The women in this particular game are also just too "feminine" all the time. They are supposed to be soldiers not whimsy schoolgirls. Another Bad point is that the dialogue scenes are just absolutely too long and too common. My first six hours of gameplay was about 1 hour of battles and 5 hours of nonplayable character interaction that was tottaly unneccesary and meaningless. That is unless squaresoft wants the player to become frustrated and just throw the discs out of the window. All in all the graphics were good and the FMV's were well done but in no way make up for the lack of plot and the overdone dialogue and dramatics. If you can help it skip this installment of FF. Hopefully the next will be better.
Rating: Summary: FF8 help Review: For all those who are thinking of buying this game I have a few helpful hints for you... If you have a regular pentuim (like mine), make sure that you have at least 32 megabytes of RAM, or... the game will move really slow. For the 3d accelerater, a voodoo 2 or higher works just fine. If you have a lower version of the accelerater the game just won't find it and you'll have an error saying "video accelerater not found", and the game won't run. The graphics are great and the music is a typical quarter note sound. The storyline is very similar to FF7, which is why this game is so great. I am a huge fan of FF7 and now... FF8!
Rating: Summary: Gee WHIZ! Review: These graphics are so hot! I'm telling you I have to pause the game cause I get so excited I gotta take a whiz. Sorry if I sound nasty, but it does. Get it. Thats not the only thing, the story line is great too. The bad stuff, weapons are confusing, GF takes too long, and the magic is stupid. You gotta "draw" it what the hell is that all about? All in all, FF7 is the best, but ff8 shines as well.
Rating: Summary: Disappointing Review: Alright, Im a true RPG fan. RPGs and Hockey games are basically the only games that I can play. So what game got me started? FF7. That is and always will be my most favorite game of all time, I could play that over and over learning something new each time. I thought that the plot was great, the characters were great, and even their personalities were great. Alright, now if you're like me, and you love FF7 then I assure you that you will be quite diappointed by FF8. I'll admit the graphics are better but the plot is pathetic. See, what I really didnt like was the fact that it took me hours to get the whole system for FF7 down, which I didnt really mind but they had to go off and change everything in FF8. Not to mention the fact that the draw system also is a hindurance. I would sit there for hours trying to draw a spell so my guys would be at least somewhat good. Alright, I do have a life here. Now, the ending is truly confusing. You figure it out. I just thought it wasnt that great. The grapics is all thats good. Personally I think Squall is a bit... Well, you tell me... One thing though... The beginning movie ROCKS. I could watch that forever. I'll give them that... Good start bad finish. It may be worth $40 but if you have PlayStation, rent it and hope you can beat it within that time. If you like it when you rent it then purchase it but...
Rating: Summary: Badd! Review: I have played all of the other Final Fantasies, and I was sorely disappointed with FF8. The game play was confusing, especially with the use of magic, and the plot and story line just sucked. The story line was so cheesy, numerous times I had to shut the game off and walk out of the room! The next FF had better be just awesome to make up for this collosal flop!
Rating: Summary: Final Fantasy VIII is a great game. Review: Final Fantasy VIII.... I like the character designs, the story, and the fact that you have a salary. The draw system is somewhat a pain but I can live with it. I'm only on disc two as I write this and I can't wait to finish the game. I think the story build-up is a little better in Final Fantasy VII. But I can't decide which is my favorite game of all time.
