Rating: Summary: The Longest Journey is Awesome Review: For fans of the old Sierra style adventure games like King's Quest, Space Quest and Quest for Glory, You will love this game. In my opinion it has to be one of the best adventure games ever made. The Graphics were awesome and the story was very well written. The Music in the game was very well composed and gives a perfect mood when playing the game. If you like adventure games then is a must have. It reminds me of the old days when Adventure games were more popular. It is too bad more people don't play them, not only do you get and awesome story, you get to have a lot of fun as well. The Longest Journey is a story you will never forget.
Rating: Summary: The most touching PC game ever produced Review: Nothing would be enough to describe how surprised I was when I finished " The Longest Journey" wondering how deeply it had touched me inside, how true the characters in the game appeared to be and how dramatic and surprising the events in the story was. The story returns again and again to mind even after hours of finishing the whole game. This is the first time I have played a pc game that has so much to do with emotions, feelings and inner thoughts that reside deep insde one's mind. This is not just a game, something more than that. Excellent background music, beautiful sceneries and totally new and thrilling storyline along with numerous shocking and joyful surprises in the plot has made it almost like a movie. I did not understand that the game was so much getting into my feelings till I ended it, suddenly I realized the pain and intense desire for more. I shall recommend everyone to play this beautiful game otherwise know for sure you are missing something really really worthwhile.
Rating: Summary: Great Review: At first I could not figure about a puzzle, and was really mad at the game, but it got easier after. The conversations are long, you might not like them at first, but listen to them closely, and you will enjoy the game much more. The reviews are kind of overhyped, though I am liking the game more and more. Playing "The longest Journey" is like watching a movie, all the listenings and the motion pictures, but yet you are an actor yourself. The graphics are excellent, but your view can not move in one scene for the most part, which is special, but scenes became banal after a while. And also, there is no fighting and weapons, nor can you die. This is as much a game to watch as a game to play, though the former quality is greater. Great entertainment, and a lot of time.
Rating: Summary: Proof the adventure genre is far from dead. Review: This game rocks. Period. Um, lemme think, where to start....well, first off, the graphics are great, and should look good even on older computers. The atmosphere, the backrounds....all outstanding. But we all know graphics aren't everything. The puzzles are also good. They always make sense, and while never led by the hand, you get subtle hints from people somtimes. But where this game really shines is the story and charecters. The entire atmosphere makes this, oddly enough, one of the most realistic games I've ever played. While some content is not approiate for younger kids(Some charecters cuss a fair amount and you encounter a few perverts) that doesn't stop the game from being one of the best I've played this year.
Rating: Summary: This game should carry a warning label: addictive. Review: I have played many, many, computer and video games. I finish so relatively few of them. However, this game, I did finish. Soon after playing it, it grabbed me and still hasn't let go, even though I finished it! To think, a few days ago, I was wondering whether to buy this game or not... how ironic! About the puzzles: Don't be expecting many MYST-like puzzles. Most all of the puzzles are "use this object on this." These puzzles fit with the game. Few seem out of place. The puzzles are generally enjoyable. I love how the game has so much humor. From April's remarks, to the events in the story, this game will make you laugh. This is a great game, and I highly recommend it. The only thing to beware of is the ending. You will still have questions at the end (it begs for a sequel), but you'll have enough information to leave it up to your imagination (as we've been told so many times. Then again, there's always fanfiction :) I'd have to say this is one of my favorite games of all time. Be sure to play this great game (and finish it, too! :)
Rating: Summary: Fantastic Game Review: This is a fantasic game. Almost everything about it is fantastic. This is my newest favorite game. There is only two problems with it. 1. Swearing. They swear so much! Especially Burns Flipper. 2. Really slow install. It takes forever! I was so excited about the game, I didn't have time to wait so long! Other than those two things, everything is perfect. Perfect! Please buy this game because I heard that if it sells well in the states, they will make a sequel! Buy it, it's a must-have.
Rating: Summary: A step beyond the looking glass. Review: The best game I have ever played. A storyline that will probably stick with me for a long time. The most amazing adventure game ever.
Rating: Summary: The Longest Journey blows most adventure games away! Review: I received this game as a gift from my sister who has a friend who played it and claimed it was "the best adventure game ever". I was skeptical at first and considered taking it back, but then I figured I'd give it a try. Immediately I fell in love with it. The characters are very likeable and realistic, especially April Ryan (and Crow). They all have personality and wit that helps make the game come alive. Also, the storyline is wonderful and interesting, and the 2 worlds are fun to explore. This truly was a remarkable gaming experience, and I would recommend this to anyone.
Rating: Summary: Great game; a necessary booster shot for the adventure genre Review: I haven't bought any games for a while because they've been getting worse and worse. This game was good in every sense: very involving storyline, wonderful characters and voice actors, beautiful scenery, engaging puzzles and a lovely soundtrack. There are, of course, the downfalls: like most "adventure games" from the past (take the older King's Quest games and Myst as the perfect examples), you have a beautiful world that you cannot explore. It's in no way like some of the more RPG-like games (Ultima, for instance) where, though there's a nice storyline and set plot, you can pretty much do what you like. TLJ has an annoyingly limited area of travel and action. That being said, what you get to see is all the better. Next, there's a lot that borders on the Absurd; some of the puzzles are downright silly, and it seems illogical and very unrealistic to spend hours poring over the screen to find a mouse hot spot, or testing random objects in random places. Absolutely no variation. But some of the sillier aspects are a lot of fun; the talking sticks and Crow, etc, which give this game a bit of the classic gaming Wit that games like Quest for Glory were so good at. It didn't take very long to play, and the ending was, well, stupid. But you can't have everything. This game scores major points for its originality, its departure from the stagnancy of the adventure game genre. Further, from a pure computing standpoint, it runs very efficiently and quickly without the zillions of bugs that seem to happen to every other game nowadays (hello EA and EIDOS). And that was on my Dell laptop, certainly not top-of-the-line. I hope these mysterious European game-makers keep at it.
Rating: Summary: Great story with a great sense of humor! Review: I purchased The Longest Journey after having read review after review saying it was one of the best Adventure games ever. But the reviews of the game could not truly capture what it was about the game that makes it such an excellent work of art. 1) The characters come to life. You will find yourself getting involved with all of the characters. You will get to know them very well.. probably too well. The voice acting of the characters is fantastic, and you really feel like these computer generated characters are real people. 2) A great sense of humor. You are pretty much guaranteed a good laugh or two every few minutes of gameplay. The first night of playing this game, I found myself laughing almost constantly. There are a couple of parts in the story where the humor builds up so much that you will laugh non-stop for the entire conversation! I am a big fan of comedy, but never has a game made me laugh so hard. 3) The graphics are amazing. The characters could use a bit of work, but the backgrounds are all fantastic, as well as the movies. If you are buying this for your children, beware, as the content is very mature. But if you're buying it for yourself, and you like adventure games, you will surely enjoy this one. The combination of wonderful voice acting, great comedy, and beautiful videos depict one of the greatest stories of any computer game to date.
