Rating: Summary: beautiful game Review: If your looking for a game filled with rich graphics and original music, this is a definate must see. Vivid and breathtakingly beautiful at times, the game is only marred by the profanity they felt it required. This is limited to a few sections and having played through it once, there are sections and puzzles quite suitable for even younger kids. April does have a big chip on her shoulder about something and that never gets resoved to my satisfaction. Some of the puzzles and their solutions are quite humerous. Another fault is it was a bit easy for the serious puzzle solver and won't be much of a challenge. Overall an enjoyable and fun game.
Rating: Summary: What a nice change Review: I really liked this game and it's nothing that I can put my finger on. But, it actually had a really nice plot that kept me thinking about it weeks after solving the game. As a woman adventure gamer, I loved seeing a game that had a little bit of future a little bit of fairy tale, a little philosophy and a great sense of humor WITHOUT having to shoot my way through anything. My favorite part of the game is when right up front the makers tell you that you will NOT die. Yes, you might have to do a few things that are a bit repetative, but overall, you have so much variety that it was a pleasure from beginning to end. Some of the language was a bit trite and mouthy for my taste, but the characters and story more than made up for it. I think the creators are on to something here. Overall, it has been my favorite game I've ever played and I've played a lot. I have yet to see another game of similar make out there. Yes, some parts are too easy and some dialog too much, however, I still wish there was more out there similar to this game. Wonderful graphics and I was never bored.
Rating: Summary: Too much talking in this game! Review: Dont get me wrong. I LOVE adventure/puzzle games and have played so many that I have a bookshelf collection. This game is one fantastic story-line and the puzzles were great. I guess I just wish that She didnt take so long to run from one place to the other..example:when she is off the sub-way and headed to talk to the guy in the garage. And the talking..OMG..could we have done without so much useless information? I got so tired of listening to things that didnt matter to the game that I kept skipping over some of the characters talking...you can read what is being said and see if its neccessary to know. I think...this game would of been rated better in my book..if and only if..i didnt spend 1 hour playing and 2 hours listening to the characters hold useless conversations.
Rating: Summary: The Longest Journey - Back and Forth Linear Progression Review: The graphics are great! Other than that, movement is boring and linear. No excitement. Puzzles are predictable.
Rating: Summary: TLJ in one word -- Breathtaking Review: Every so often a game will come along that can be honestly described as a "must have" game - TLJ is one such game. Not only is the game play well designed, but the environment and atmosphere of Arcadia and Stark pulls the gamer into April Ryan's world. On top of these, there's a score that would rival any symphonic concert (its so good, theres even a soundtrack available to purchase) combined with a storeline that deserves to be a novel in its own right.Through this mix of musical score, rich dialogue, entrancing scenery and well thought storyline, FunCom has created an adventure game that at times feels more as if you're watching a movie-quality production rather than just playing a game. Now the only thing that could make it better would be a sequel as soon as possible.
Rating: Summary: A nice refreshment of a dying genre, an escape from others Review: It's been a while since I've played an adventure game, and I'm glad to say that this one lives to its expectation. The pacing is wonderful, the graphics are done fairly well, the voice acting is good. The game is mature, intelligent, and most of all, fun!
Rating: Summary: Logical,Beautiful, and FUN! Review: How does any game with obscure origins (Norway) and not heavily marketed win awards from several respected game review sites? Its simple. It was that good! (example site: gamespot.com) Everything was well done: Graphics, sound, scoring, voice acting, puzzles, and most important the story. If you like adventure games, then this one will appeal to you. I found the puzzles to be logical which is a relief since so many of these games add unrealistic logic puzzles. (An example would be that to get your wallet from under the couch, you have to put a food item under the sofa and then have your pet white mouse crawl under there and walla out he comes with, not the food, but your wallet. does that make sense? Why not just move the sofa?) The story was quite interesting and fresh. The only downside would be that April, the main character is a bit of a smart a#$ and has the potty mouth to go with that type of character. If you are easily offended by occasional bad language then this is not for you. I actually found the character to be well developed and her attitude humerous. Most game creators add maddeningly diffcult, or illogical puzzles so that the game takes many hours to complete. They think of this as value. The creators of this game used a different approach. Their game/story has so much depth that it takes up 3 CD's! Now thats real value!
Rating: Summary: Best adventure game in a long time Review: This is indeed the best adventure game I have played in a long time. There are not many games out there on the market in the pure adventure genre, but THE LONGEST JOURNEY is definately a great game with a great storyline! If you don't know, THE LONGEST JOURNEY is about a young woman named April who lives in America in a near-distant future. April is an artist, hoping to get a grant by a local school for admission. But lately April is troubled by her dreams and telling you anymore would be unfair. This storyline is utterly engrossing. It is like watching a long, but really great movie. Plus, I was captivated by the graphics of the game as well. The puzzles range from really easy to moderately difficult. Seasoned adventure gamers should not have a problem. All of the puzzles have a logical solution to them. There are not to many games out there right now that require you to stop and think: How do I make this work? All in all, this is one of the best games of any genre that I have ever played and that is the truth. If you are a fan of MYST, ALONE IN THE DARK, MONKEY ISLAND and maybe TOMB RAIDER, you'll fall in love with THE LONGEST JOURNEY! Trust me, I cannot reccomend this game enough. It was worth every penny.
Rating: Summary: Best adventure game to come out in awhile Review: ... "The Longest Journey" is the best adventure game I played last year, (although it isn't my favorite adventure game of all time... It did, however, deliver on its title, and provided many long hours of gameplay. The puzzles range from pretty simple, to more complex (to downright impossible... if you miss something, that is). The storyline is epic and moves through many different environments, the graphics are beautiful, and the voice acting is almost all really great. My only complaint is this: copious amounts of expository dialogue. Don't get me wrong, I love dialog, but at points during the game, I just rolled my eyes and thought "let's get on with it." It's clear that the author/creator of this game really loved the story. And it's also clear that if the game were turned into a novel, it would be a thick one. Of course, of all possible complaints, this one is probably the easiest to deal with. If you can get past it, then you will be treated to an intriguing story, good characters, challenging puzzles, and a long journey.
Rating: Summary: THE BEST GAME I HAVE EVER PLAYED Review: Let me start off by saying i hate this game.....because it has ruined all other PC Games for me. I have never experienced a game that really effected me, took me inside the charcters' mind and really live her life. The graphics are the best I have ever seen in a video game and the plot...one word WOW! The dialogues can a be little long but you can skip them and then read the transcripts later. There's also April's Dairy which can help you figure out your next step or just get her opinion on some of the characters she has met. The characters you meet well, you become connected to them, and there's so many!!! You get to choose conversations so you can control your role in the game. This game is for more mature audiences, it has an adult sense of humor, so if Monkey Island amuses, this game is not for you! Please go out and get this game, so that you can be spoiled by what real PC Games should look like!
