Summary: Beware before you Buy - NOT WHOLESOME!
Review: This furturistic tale is neither uplifting nor reflecting of good values. I read previous reviews about it's graphics, which are good however the content is not. It has a lot of profantity and touts adult situations that do not reflect good christian values. If you are a parent don't get this software for your child since it is written as entertainment but is really a reflection of the writers morals, ethics and mindset. I bought this software thinking that it was a good adventure like the kinda kooky Syberia which was actually fun. This is not fun and doesn't reflect wholesomeness. I am offering this review for only those of you who like me would buy this software without knowing before hand that it is NOT for everyone and certainly not for children.

Summary: Great fun, but stop with all the babbling!!!
Review: I have not yet finished this game, so my review could change; I think this is really a great adventure, except for of course, the talking. I am dreading hearing one more long winded conversation between the characters. Ok, you need the info their giving you but enough already. I found using the subtitles is better(w/sound) because you can hit escape after you've read what they're saying & it saves tons of time. I do enjoy the puzzles, and the cool different surroundings; but am I the only one who thinks the characters look like animations from the late 80's? Up close April looks great, but on my 19" monitor everyones actions and facial expressions seem very slow moving & dated.
Overall I am having fun traveling between Stark & Arcadia. It's getting addicting.

Summary: More then a little frustrating at times..
Review: There was a lot of buzz around this game when it originally came out. and while it is an entertaining 3rd person adventure game, i was left feeling a bit disappointed. There are several points in the game that become extremely difficult to get past. not so much because the actual game play is that hard...but more because it's just not that easy to get around the vast landscape. And there is the downfall of this game. there is just too much. of everything. too many characters, too many locations to try and keep track of. And while i did end up enjoying the game over all...i still feel that less would have been more.

Review: If you like adventure games, my wife and I strongly recommend this game. Like Grim Fandango, another we highly recommend, it is original and fun.

Summary: If I'd Only Known...
Review: I ordered The Longest Journey and when it came I couldn't wait to play it. Simply fantastic game and great puzzles! Unfortunately, my game crashed after just 3 weeks of play so I can no longer play this really fun game. I don't really know why it crashed - I got a type of error message saying that my there was a problem with the DirectDrawSurface object and that the "surface graphics" had been eliminated somehow. I went to FunCom's website and several times e-mailed them about this and also read all the contents of the website. So far, FunCom hasn't contacted me. The only thing I can think of that could be the problem is that my laptop runs on Windows XP. For those of you running Windows 95 and 98, though, it's really a terrific game.

Summary: Engrossing
Review: I like this game so much that I'm writing this review. It is simply a great adventure game. I'm running on Windows XP, 1.8 GHz, with a 17" LCD monitor with absolutely no problem - the action runs seamlessly. As noted by other reviewers, there is a lot of talking, and it could be streamlined. However, unlike most adventure games, this is more like an interactive movie with plenty of video and character interaction. While Myst and Riven set the standard, they are static compared to this. The puzzles are usually not difficult and definitely no more contrived than other games. They do not interfere with game flow and that makes them enjoyable. I will definitely get the sequel!

Summary: GREAT game
Review: The longest journey is a fantastic game! You play as April Ryan, who lives in the future. She has these bad dreams all the time. April then learns from a man named Cortez that she is a shifter. April refuses to believe him, but then she finally gets used to it, and uses her powers to save the 2 worlds- stark and arcadia.

All in all, this game was a great one. The only thing i have against this game is that there is a TON of people you have to talk too and get info from. I usually found myself scratching my head woundering if i had ever heard of the place they were talking about, but i usually got it straightened out. The game had great graphics and i loved it!

BUY THIS GAME NOW!

Summary: Great games take a lot of time
Review: This game takes patience, because it has a lot of dialogue (read: STORY). Not only does it have a long well-thought out story complete with various puzzles and lush, painstakingly detailed backgrounds, but all the voice acting is incredibly good. It's funny, it's dramatic, it's sci-fi and it's fantasy. Pick up a copy, it's cheap, and it's worth 3 times the price.
