Rating: Summary: The Phenomenal Myst Review: Myst is the first installment in the Myst series, and one of the best computer games ever- in my opinion, it's only topped by Myst II and Myst III, its sequels. Beautiful scenery, puzzling (but slightly less puzzling than Myst II and III, so it would be better for a younger person), and altogether a wonderful game to play. I would also suggest a walkthrough for this as well, but it isn't as necessary as for the nest two games in the series.
Rating: Summary: GREAT GAME PLAY IT!!! Review: An overall great game. Mysteries surround you while you go to different worlds or as their called ages. The graphics and music is awe-inspiring and captivating. great for anytime of the day and as there is no violence or gore anybody can play it. The puzzles are ez anmd challenging, ex: one puzzle took me 2 secs to figure it out and another ive been working on for a week.Very addicting once you get into it. PLAY IT!!!
Rating: Summary: WARNING: DON"T BUY IF YOU HAVE WINDOWS XP Review: WARNING: Holiday season is upon us - The DVD version of this game (MYST) as well as its sequals EXILE and RIVEN do not work with Windows XP especially if you have Quicktime 3.0 or higher. We contacted the company though thier website and they have no intention of upgrading or providing drivers for said games to accomodate users. By their own suggestion at CYAN and RED-ORB and PRESTO is if you have purchased these games and they do not work take them back to the store and see if you can get your money back. Unless the compatibilty with any game produced by this company specifically says it is XP compatible DO NOT PURCHASE IT> Thanks
Rating: Summary: MYST Review: This game is exellent. However I recommend buying the updated version "realMYST". This version you can't pan around to gage your surroundings. They are both the same game, but the graphics in the updated realMYST is a vast improvement over this version.
Rating: Summary: A classic in its genre Review: I would like to start out by saying that this is a puzzle game! So many people have said they don't like it, that's just because it aint thier cup of tea. The only thing that solving puzzles rewards you with is more puzzles. An excelent game in and of itself, but I thought the ending fell flat on its face. Don't play this hoping to get a cool ending cuz it isnt there. Rating: Summary: Great for cooperation Review: I really enjoyed this game. Good progression of the story line through the game. Graphics are great. On the parts I could not figure out, my sister and I worked together. Two heads are definitely better than one.
Rating: Summary: Continues to Leave Me Mystified Review: "Myst" is the one that started it all. "Myst" is the game by which all other role-playing games are measured. No one had any idea when the game first came out in 1993 that it would eventually become the best-selling computer game of all time.Rand and Robyn Miller, the brothers who created the wildly successful game, hit upon a winning idea. Place someone into an unknown world where the clues he or she uncovers reveals the story. And one of the biggest perks of all - you can't die. "Myst" starts off by dumping you on a dock overlooking a vast ocean. You can hear water lapping along the dock, and a wind makes the hair on your neck stand up. And from there it only gets more interesting - you discover books that can link you to other worlds like this one, more commonly called Ages; you encounter all sorts of devices that, even though they don't appear to do much, are all part of the underlying thread tying the game together; and just by wandering around you immerse yourself in the world that is "Myst." Occasionally, I meet people who are baffled at the success of "Myst." They don't understand how a game where you just walk around and solve stuff can be so appealing. There is little or no character interaction, they say. I've noticed that a lot of these same people are those who like those "shoot'em up and splatter their guts all over the wall" type of gamers. The reason "Myst" has been so successful is because it so pure - you don't have to worry about dying, you use your head to get your way through things, and each new Age you encounter is just bursting with intriguing things to discover. That and each world is beautiful. Not as jaw-dropping as "Riven" and not nearly as mesmerizing as "Myst III: Exile", but "Myst" has a subtle yet majestic beauty that makes it stand apart from other games. If you have never played a computer game before, give "Myst" a try. You will be surprised at how addictive it can become. Did I mention that there is no possible way in which you can be killed? Seriously! How many games today offer that? There's a reason why it has been such a hit; millions and millions of people can't be wrong.
Rating: Summary: a classic for a reason Review: Ok, i have to admit, in the begining i was a bit frustrated with the whole not knowing what the point of the game was, but i soon learned that it was all part of game--in fact its meant to be a puzzle in itself. Not only is this game full of challenging puzzles (that cannot be solved by guessing, but only through careful examination of the environment, so for those of you who depend on trial and error this game might not be for you) but the entire game is a mystery to by solved. If you're impatiant or dont like to pay close attention subtle clues or note taking (namely fans of action/shooting/blood and gore games) i would not recomend this game. But if you want to be challenged (and if you get stuck there are a number of online guides to help out) this game is great and has been made into a series for a reason. Its difficult but not as much as i have been led to believe because the the puzzles and clues connect to both each other and the end solution of the game. The music is great and fits into the atmosphere and the scenery is wonderful (especially considering how old this game is). This plays out as a quite a story and if your one of those who really get into fantacy books/games i would recommend this for you as well.
