Summary: Great game, but some issues drag down the hype.
Review: The SAGA continues! We have finally received a sequel to JK!!! JK2 is a good game. It has the features of JK, and brings them up to the max!

To start, JK2's graphics are EXTREMELY improved! It uses the Quake 3 Graphics engines to utilize the best graphics in games today! It has BEAUTIFUL landscapes, and character details are AMAZING! Kyle Katarn has never looked so good!

The gameplay is nothing to scream about. It is exactly like JK's. That's probably a good thing. I found a few probs with gameplay tho. I realized that the aiming mechanism is somewhat inaccurate at times. Because the aimer always stays in the same position, you should always have the same accurate aiming. Although, this game doesn't have that. This is definetely not a game for Tactical Shooters fans.

I also found that replay value is OK. There are 4 difficulty levels at which you can beat the game at, but I don't think that is enough. I mean, can't we atleast get a few alternative paths or SOMETHING??? It's the same game played over and over again, but at harder levels. Some people may find this cheap, but I think it's OK if you just start at the medium or hardest difficulty level. I started at Padawan (the first difficulty), and it's still pretty challenging. Expect to be infront of you computer a lot frusterated about a puzzle you must solve.

In general, this is a MUST for all JK fans. Tactical shooters fans may find this game a bit annoying, and people that are not fans of the first person shooter genre should not think about getting this game. FPS fans should consider buying the game, and may want to play the demo before purchasing. All in all, this is a game for the JK fans and FPS fans. I'm out now, so PEACE. Hope this helps!

Summary: Unsophisticated Saber Duels prevent a complete Jedi Feel
Review: There are plenty of good things to say about this game and many reviewers do a good job at presenting that, so allow me to do some complaining.

My biggest problem:
When people join a server you are already in, there sometimes is a lag spike. For me, every so often, my computer just freezes, and even alt-control-delete can't save me, I have to press my reset button on my computer.

Graphics:
Quake engine is used. Models look great, but some of the textures on the environments are pretty dull. There is dismemberment in single player if you punch in some commands. However, it's too bad there is no dismemberment in multiplayer, which would have been a spectacle. I know we want to protect our children, but why not give us a choice in the menu? After all, most gamers are normal and responsible people, and for that matter, many are not children.

Interface:
There seems to be a pattern for Raven games that are powered by the Quake engine (Soldiers of Fortune II: Double Helix has the same problems). The menu doesn't remember what you just had it on. For example, I am looking at servers to join online and I click on say "Jim's Server". I click on "Server Details" to look at its rules and the IP. When I am done, the menu takes me back to the top of the list and I have to find "Jim's Server" AGAIN! Furthermore, when you try to join a server and you are unsuccessful by way of needing a password (no you don't know if the server is passworded or not until you try to join) or server is full, it doesn't take you back to the last menu, it takes you back TWO menus! And to add to that, when you are loading into a server and you change your mind for whatever reason, you can press escape, BUT you HAVE to wait for the whole thing to load as if you were actually going ahead with joining that server that you want to cancel out of. And again, when it finishes loading, it takes you back to?. You guessed it, TWO menus back. What a hassle.

Controls:
The game has a problem remembering your controls. Sometimes you may have to re-configure your keys. It took about two weeks for it to settle in and now it doesn't do that anymore.

Saber Fights:
Perhaps the most enjoyable thing about being a Jedi is wielding a light saber. It feels great to watch it ignite and disignite, and listen to the realistic sound (well realistic as in it imitates the sound in the films well). However, a game called Jedi Knight should put into detail a light saber fight. The fights are not as cool as you may think. There is a whole lot of swinging going on and a whole lot of missing. There is usually random swinging and sometimes you feel like the swing went through the opponent, as he is unmarked. I could swear sometimes I am so sure I hit that guy, but all I caught was air. Don't get me wrong, there is a method to hit people, and I am getting pretty good at it myself; but is it fun and is it realistic? Not even close. I know this is all fantasy, but when I say realistic, I am not talking about people flying around and magically griping each other's throats from 20 feet away; what I mean is simple and logical real world physics. If we are all Jedi, then why can't we hit anything? Try it, you will see. I know I am not a samurai, but give me a sword and a moving target and I bet I can still hit it seven out of ten times. In this game, your successful hits are probably three out of ten.
There should be a very elaborate system of sword fighting in today's games. I know it is hard to implement, but this random swinging and missing thing is annoying; this is Jedi fighting (you know, Star Wars, arguably the most influential phenomenon in pop culture history?), not puppet boxing.

Here are my watered down praises about Jedi Knight II:
Great controls.
Great action.
Great netcode, lag free.
Almost bug-free on the first release - UNBELIEVEABLE!
Raven and whoever else is involved should be very proud of this game. Great job guys.
The buggy interface and the unsophisticated saber duels prevent me from giving it a perfect score. My true score is 8/10.

Summary: Return with a Vengence
Review: This is a bit presumptive of me, I've only spent a scant five hours playing around with JK2, but I feel comfortable giving it 5 stars and have faith the game will justify me.

Activision has teamed with premier developer Raven to give customers one of the best themed FPS's in a long time. Raven, you may recall, made a huge splash on the scene a couple years ago with the graphic (and gory) Soldier of Fortune. The graphics were top of the line and the innovations SoF brought to first person shooters was truly invigorating. Now they've had the opportunity to dabble in one of the most lucrative (and loyal) franchises around, and they've delivered a great product. We're back to the original Star Wars setting, post Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, when things are dark and dreary (not bright and chipper as in Episode I).

This game really pulls you in, right from the very beginning. (I'm assuming you've got an idea of the plot, surely it's been written about a dozen times--trust me, it's good!) A connection is quickly established to the previous games, and you feel like you're picking up right were you left off. At the same time, novices to the Jedi Knight games won't feel too left out, as the plot takes enough time to develop and build that you learn everything you need to know as the game progresses.

The combat starts out light and easy, and steadily progresses into something more difficult and challenging, keeping you on your toes. The levels are extremely well designed, and although they're a bit more "puzzle" oriented than I usually care for, I enjoyed the exploration all the same. So far, it isn't quite the "thinking man's" shooter that Deus Ex and Hitman were, but it doesn't try to be. Health, shield and weapon recharges are perfectly placed, and I've been so close to death so many times when I found "just what I need" at the last possible minute, building a superb amount of suspense and tension.

On the technical side... Wow. The graphics are great. Rich texturing and beautiful lighting effects. There have been a couple times so far that as a cutscene begins, I forget that they're drawn with the in-game engine, and not pre-rendered. Just very nicely done. Sound is equally superb, though you may want to turn your subwoofer up a bit more than normal as the sound editors seemed to go a bit light on the bass.

On the downside, while the installation went smoothly, I spent a solid 1.5 hours banging away at technical problems before I was able to actually play the game without worrying about a system lock-up occurring every ten minutes. Presently, I've had to turn the in-game graphics far below where Raven says my system ought to be able to handle them. As always, make sure you have the latest drivers, with one exception: Nvidia graphics card users should use Detonator 23.11 drivers... I've ordered another 256 meg of RAM, and I'm hoping that'll fix my problems. Common problems reported on the LucasArts Forums include random freezing of the OS (cause unknown), corrupted graphics when using volumetric shadows (related to Nvidia drivers), and long load times purported due to have your graphics turned up too high. Despite these technical difficulties, the game rocks and I'm more than willing to suffer through the random freezes... just remember to save often and frequently!

Trust me... buy it! You'll love it!

Summary: Outcast in a league of it's own...
Review: For anyone that grew up the the 1980's dreaming about being a jedi knight...here's your chance. This game is non-stop action and great fun for all ages. And if you like Multiplayer action you'll love what they did with Outcast. Imagine this: You and your opponent, nothing but a lightsaber and your force powers, and no one to interfere. This is the Dual version of Multiplayer which is one of 5 different multiplayer games that you can enjoy. Buy this game and you will not be disapointed!

Review: LucasArts STOLE MY MONEY!

this is one of the worst games i've bought in 4 years. Although the graphics may be fancy thats about it. The game play is terrible, the levels are dry, and the animations are choppy (even on my P4 256ram!!!!). Its like the only thing they focused on was pretty still pictures to lure unsuspecting gamers with screan shots. This game is JUST NOT FUN!

In addition to these problems there are hundreds of bugs in this version. I believe that they released this game way to early and I would not buy this product! Save your money and please stop supporting everything they stamp a star wars logo on!

STARWARS stamped across the box cannot justify such a terrible game.

Summary: 5 Stars Is Just Not Enough!!
Review: I got the game right as it hit stores and let me tell you this game is Awesome!! The gameplay is beyond fantastic in both single and multiplayer modes. The AI is quite the pest at times, not meaning in a bad way but in a too real sort of way. The stormtroppers flank your position and will stop at nothing till you are dead or just until you slice one of their arms off. Something really makes you feel good when you can sit back and watch in slow motion as you stick your lightsaber throught a Dark Jedi Rebirth. I could sit here and jabber on and on about the game but I will end here. I have to get back To Kyle Katarn and saving the galaxy from the Sith.

P.S. Can You Say GAME OF THE YEAR!!
