Rating: Summary: A worthy successor Review: Despite being rushed into stores a bare year after Rainbow Six appeared, Rogue Spear manages to be a very good game in its own right. Since you probably know the premise and gamestyle, I'll dig right to the meat of this review.First off, the bad news. It shoud be noted that Rogue Spear is not an easy game. While it doesn't touch the insanity-inducing difficulties that Ghost Recon and its expansions rose to it can still be hard for casual gamers. This isn't necessarily bad, but players should be aware. Aside from this, the only major flaw in the game is (of course) the bugs. Just like in Rainbow Six, there is an odd bug where you can unload an entire clip into a baddie with no effect before he blows you away. Very annoying, especially in hostage rescue situations. I also experienced random crashes to the desktop. Any ambient noises (ie, rain, crickets, howling wind) remained afterwards. I'm not sure what causes this. Also somewhat unrealistic (for a game that pushes realism) is the ability of some of the enemies...those Japanese eco-terrorists are remarkabale shots with automatic weapons, being able to shoot and kill you at 200 feet with the wind howling around you. But that's about it for the negative. And the positive--first, the gameplay is positively addicting. Even though the primary formula remains mostly the same (go in, shoot bad people, don't get shot by bad people), it is disguised in numerous variating scenarios. In addition, there are the uber-challenging recon missions, which require you to infiltrate a hide-out and plant bug completely undetected by guards. Furthermore, the graphics and sound are top-notch (or they were three years ago). In snow, your men leave footprints both outdoors and (for a time, until the snow dries) indoors, and their breath fogs. There are also some great new weapons (such as the badly needed sniper rifles) that will be familiar to any who played the NATO mod for the original--the Styr Aug and the .50 Caliber Barretta rifle come to mind. The planning phase (one of my favorit features) is just as smooth as the original--if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Finally, the missions themselves are original and well-done. You'll visit, among other places, an oil tanker, a hi-jacked 747, an opera house, and a TV studio. Perhaps the best-done mission is the harrowing fight set in a destroyed Kosovo villiage--it feels like Ghost Recon. Overall, this is a game I would reccomend to anybody. Only those few niggling bugs kept me from giving it 5 stars.
Rating: Summary: Action-Packed Game Rivals 1st Rainbow Six Review: Rogue Spear is an exciting version of realistic special ops teams in the line of fire. You are commanding the head officer of a team. Before each mission you slowly plan each AI team members' actions, from throwing a grenade, to sniping. Overall, this game was a hit for the producers. It has many glitches in it, but it is still a great game for shooting adicts world-wide. I also enjoy this game online. It is a favorite for online gamers too. I would rate this a four, because of the glitches and that playing it online bites if you have 56K. Besides that it is great!
Rating: Summary: Overrrated, too difficult and hard to play. Review: This is a superb shooting game with lots of realism and strategy incoprorated. Graphics are great as is choice of team-mates and weaponary. I guess that it pretty realstic in a lot of ways as your team mates get in your way, and the terrorists are not as stupid as they are on some other games - they will shoot at you as soon as they see you. But there are times when you shoot at a terrorist and he doesn't die but shoots you instead. It seems to be a problem with the game. There are lots or really weird glitches too. You see dead terrorists levitating and half of them stuck through walls and their legs hanging down through the roof etc. I find it irritating that the designers take so much care to make tyres go down when you shoot them, and different sounds when you shoot a bed or a window, but then so little detail is given to other aspects such as the lights which don't go out if you shoot them. I have never seen lights like that. "Goldeneye" has lights that pop so why doesn't this? A lot of this game is just too difficult to win at. In addition, you get a mission such as the one at the datcha where you must avoid detection - this is really difficult. The idea is to plant a bug and a camera and leave as though you've never even been there. You can go round and shoot al the windows out and still complete the level...and no one will notice that there are windows missing, glass everywhere and bullet holes in the walls? My point is, if you are going to go for realism then go all the way, or not at all. My low rating for this game is due to the problems I have had playing it on the PC. I think it's a game with really great potential, but you end up waiting all the time while the computer makes grinding sounds which freeze your action, but while you are frozen it really impedes playability and you end up getting shot because you can't react. Unplayable due to this, and I have a powerful computer, so that's not the problem. This is overambitious for the PC market, and there are things that need rethinking to make it a better game.
Rating: Summary: A Good Distraction Review: Rogue Spear is quite entertaining, and gives you a good mix of an action and strategy game. I have 2 complaints: 1. Graphics engine could use work...characters feet go through solid objects etc. 2. AI team members can be unreliable. In several of the game's 18 missions, I and my team complete our task, only to have the mission botched by some AI... But, all in all, a decent game. I would recommend it.
Rating: Summary: An exxelent video game but not perfect Review: This game is good. Good things. The fun facter is wonderful. It has a ton of complex features and planning. The story line is wonderful. You get to nearly completely custimize your entire team. They have special classes and skills. Your missions are very different and unique. There are unlimited ways to complete your mission adding a strong point to the replay value. The story is well told and interesting. They are in real world locations. You've A arsenal of weapons and gadgets and body armer to custimize your men and women with. The game game is very realistic. If one of the men dies in a mission you can't use him in another mission he is dead. If a person is incapicated in battle you cannot use this operative in another mission for a certain amount of missions till he or she heals. Also you can be wounded this happends eather if you are wounded in battle or you were incapicitated and know you are nearly healed. When you are wounded you can go into battle but have loss to your skills. Types of soilders are Assault Recon Demolitions Electronics Sniper they have skills fitting their type. tYpes of missions include preventing a nuclear meltdown recon planting explosives capturing an enemy leader rescuing hostages nuetrilizing a group of terrorists and busting a arms deal prevent terrorists from escaping from a bust. You and your teamates have a realistic amount of health excluding bodyarmer you have as much health as the badguys. You can custimize down to the bullet you use in planning. Nuetrel things. The enemy AI isn't that good. Enemies aren't very smart they don't really pay attention to their surronding killing them is easy. They will run from a grenade and set off a alarm but they could just be standin around not awear of anything until he sees you. So if you are behind him or near him in a position where if he just looked around he'll see you but he dosen'tlook around. This dosen't count for patroling enemies. When an enemy sees you he just walk towards you firing not ducking or hiding behind a wall. If you capture a enemy captain which you have to do in a mission he'll sound just like a hostage you are rescuing. Acting like they were rescued as prisoners not being captured as a prisoner. Bad things. Your team AI sucks they will will just stand there cluelessly unless you tell them to do something or you make them have a plan which they will follow like rbots only shooting enemy and doing what they are told. They basicly don't think for themselfs. You can shoot at one he'll stand there doing nothing and your other teammates won't even notice that their coleege is getting killed. Also it is loadeed with bugs and graphicel gliches enemy's go through walls. You get cought in graphics allot. Voices and music slur crackel. Enemies sometime float around or the body's are lieing firmly in mid air. I'm giving it 4 stars because even though it has some problems it is a really good game any realistic anterrorism shooting game fan would like it.
Rating: Summary: Still Fun After 2 Years Review: I've had Rogue Spear for two years, and it's still my favorite game. I have the expansions Covert Ops, Urban Ops, and Black Thorn. All are fantastic, but none compare to the original Rogue Spear missions. The multiplayer is never-ending fun, now that I've beat all normal missions on elite difficulty, and all the terrorist hunt and lone wolf missions on elite difficulty with only a pistol. It took me two years to accomplish that. The game will never get old because of unmatched AI, flawless gameplay and sound, and unprecedented graphics. Everyone must buy this game!

Rating: Summary: Stay away Review: Crashes all the time and freezes the computer (900 MHz, 512 MB RAM, GF2-64 MB). Red Storm admits that "technical issues" exist with NVIDIA cards, but offers no solution. It turns out that the same "issues" exist with some sound cards. Reading the red storm`s FAQ I found that the same problems happen to all their action games meaning they use for years the same buggy game engine without improvement. Probably at red storm they think the hardware should be optimized for the game. Wrong. Try to write better software, guys. Never had such problems before with any other game. From the few missions I was able to play: graphics is OK, the AI is weak. The gameplay is somewhat dumb, you can`t play a new mission if you have not succeeded the previous one. And some missions are extremely hard to pass because the terrorists kill the hostage immediately if they see or hear you. If the hostage is killed, you have to start over from the very beginning. But this is ridiculous, of course in the ideal mission no hostages should be harmed but in the real life they often are, unfortunately. Communications with the elements and giving orders are useless. Strongly recommend SWAT 3 instead.
Rating: Summary: One Sweet Game Review: Tom Clancy's Rouge Spear is by far the funnest of all his games. Also the Urban Ops Mission pack that comes with it sometimes is great make sure that you play both. The multiplayer mode is awsome it allows you to communicate to your oponents or teammates online! A must play game. Great price!!!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Good game but... Review: First of all I want to start saying that this game goes for all of those out there who loves the realistic FPS. Rouge Spear offers a good single player. There are a wide variety of weapons (rifels, automatics, shotguns etc.) and they all have their unice capabilities. You also get to pick your own squad members for the four different tams (Alfa, Bravo, Charlie, Delta). But the multiplayer part of the game is simple brilliant and amazing! The multiplayer hosts all of the maps that are in the single player part of the game as well as other maps like bunkers. There are also a big variety of types of games that you can play within multiplayer--- Co-op, FFA, blue vs gold (teams) and hostage rescue! MSN gaming zone has really done a good job on this one! However there are some very serious problems within the game. The AI is one of the worst that I've ever seen. Sure they hide behind tables or walls, but they come running towards you if they hear a bullet fly or a grenade explode and all you have to do is kill each one of them as they come by. The game also has some serious graphic problems. Sometimes you might see a guy floating in mid air. I even experienced getting stuck inside a wall, lol! The sound is... OK. The weapons don't sound that realistic, but the game sure has some good dialogues into it (AI speaks russian). Overall Rouge spear is a good game and I strongly recommend this game for players that have brodband connection and likes to play online!
