Rating: Summary: just like being in the game Review: Forget what others say on how lousy this gave is and what have you. I say this game is GOOD. Controls are a bit tricky at first but like any other game, once you get the hang of it, then you're set. Particularly tricky was the sniper rifle. Going into zoom mode, when there are a lot of enemies to target really got me. Though I found it sort of a cliffhanger, once you're really into it already, the game ends there. I hope they make a sequel to this game, just like the movie.
Rating: Summary: WOW! Review: I played the game at a friends house for a good couple of hours. One word to describe it: AMAZING! The possibility of moves and attacks is amazing, once you get used to the controls you can do just about everything you see in the movie (and more!). I'm going off to buy it soon (i can't wait for the shipping time to play!!!). My only worry is that the game becomes monotonous later on...
Rating: Summary: Short, But Fun Review: When I bought this game, I had some money to get rid of, so I figured, what the heck, I'll buy it. After I played it for an hour, it was the most fun I have had playing a game in a long time. Enter The Matrix turned into the best 10 hours I have spent playing on the computer. The graphics are glitchy in some of the cutscenes, but the in-game is very nice(especially textures.) The only bad thing I have to say about this game is that the fighting scenes are pretty much automated. All you need to do is click away, and suddenly you are a kung-fu master. The best part is the intricate gameplay, and the hacking program. It allows you to pretend you are in the matrix, and hack cheats out of it. Also has very good replay value. Overall, go spend 50 bucks on this game, cause it is definately worth it!
Rating: Summary: So bad it will make you gag Review: This is nothing but a ... Atari + Matrix trademark package. A stroke of genious from pr perspective. I'll have to agree with some of the previous reviewers stating that this game was rushed. The game needed about a year more to fermentate. The graphics are horrible for a PC title. This is like going back to the original nintendo after playing Max Payne or Hitman. You would expect the game to play smooth with its simpler graphics, but no such luck. As soon as any type of action kicks in the game turns chopy. The motion capture isn't fluid and the model physics are incredibly poor. This could of been a game of the year, uhh back in 1992. ...
Rating: Summary: Not the best game ever, but not bad by any means... Review: I thought long and hard, after reading many of the reviews posted on this site, about whether or not to go out and actually buy this game. The fact that I'm between places right now and my backup PIII 933, 384mb, GeForce256 32mb system was going to be the one I would test it on made me hesitate even more, but the desire to get the inside story won me over. I played for about an hour and a half last night and I have to say, this game isn't bad at all. Yes, the porting is almost evident, but you know what, the gameplay doesn't suffer all that much. Yes, the moves get predictable, but I'm still discovering new combinations every time I get into a fight. Naturally, we stick with what we like (so variety means different things to different people). To me, the environments are fine (since I spend more time trying not to get killed rather than sight-seeing my surroundings... except in the post office lobby where the pillars were being shot to hell, reminiscent of the original matrix film) and jumping around the rooftops is kinda fun. The "focus" bullet-time feature is cool, but I never got into Max Payne, so mine is a non-biased point of view. The first person "scope" view along with the auto-aim feature does leave something to be desired, but isn't a big issue. The only thing that I found a little weird was the way that our characters climbed up ladders (too choppy and too fast... too cartoonish). Running on my backup system, which is almost bare "recommended," the gameplay is smooth on 800x600 resolution. No choppiness, no slow down (except when in bullet-time mode, obviously), and the graphics look very good to me. I'm playing on normal difficulty (easy? c'mon, I want a challenge), and so far there are two places that I had a very difficult time getting past (moreso because I tried to kill everyone rather than just run a little and complete my objective). You'll have to figure these out for yourself. I haven't tried the hacking feature yet either.PS - For those of you looking for an awesome, one of a kind, online gameplay experience, download the Army game online for free...
Rating: Summary: Too bad they never finished debugging it Review: I just purchased the PC version of the game (3 days after it came out). Everything you have heard is true. The music is great, the cut scenes are engaging, the graphics are wonderful and "focus mode" (know to Max Payne players as "bullet time") is just flat out fun. Flying through the air to kick your enemy in the head in as bullets whiz all around you in slow motion (complete with visible air turbulance) is every bit as much fun as you thought it would be. The hacking is a neat ddition as well, though I haven't gotten too far into that yet. (Note: You will need a very basic familiarity with DOS or some other CLI to play around with the hacking). The problem is, the game is not ready for primetime quite yet. Most of the problems have to do with the use of the mouse and the mouse control is squirelly at best. I have died hundreds of times just trying to get my character to turn around. The mouse seems to always be over or under sensitive, never quite allowing you to do what you need to do. It gets so frustrating at times that I just have to quit and walk away. Game controls should not be something you have to think about, much less struggle with. Hopefully the first patch will fix this. And God help you if you approach a wall. Your character can be under intense fire while running near a wall and suddenly decide to "hug" the wall. This basically converts he/she to your standard target ("hey, I'm getting shot up left and right, but at least I have cover!"). Similarly, you can be in the middle of a fire fight and the character will drop into "hand to hand mode". Unless you have focus time left, you will then faced with the rather interesting challenge of taking on a ton of bullets hand to hand (hint: bullets have no hands, you loose). And the menus! How in the world did these menus get past QA? They work from the keyboard, but using the mouse to click on an option is an adventure in the world of random results. The mouse controls are so touchy that just one brief (and I mean very brief) click is enough to select the option you want, plus the options in the same positions from the next 2 menus that pop up menus. Because of this, I can click on quit and actually find the game reloading my last save and picking up where I left off!. All of this is solved by using the keyboard for menus, but its very annoying when you forget. To sum up, Enter the Matrix is a good PC game that badly needs its first patch. These flaws do not keep me from playing and enjoying the game, but I will be so much happier when they are resolved
Rating: Summary: great excuse to upgrade your video card... not much else Review: The fighting scenes and combination of moves are great and the visuals & audio are consistent with the Matrix franchise. Of course, I had to upgrade my video card to know that. The action of this game is often interrupted by the "story" with breaks and action scenes that you, as a player, do not control. The point of view has a difficult time keeping a decent perspective on the action. If you your fighting and move near a wall, be prepared to have a screen full of wall in your face as you listen to the action going on out of view. It seems like the camera moves to get a good angle on the action and not to keep the player's point of view clear of obstructions. Driving in the Matrix is awkward at best and is perhaps the biggest let down of the game. Other cars start to wobble up and off the road infront of you and police cars zip around so uncontrollably they often flip onto their hoods. When driving as Niobe, the controls are not very responsive. When riding shotgun as Ghost, you get the impression Niobe is driving just as bad as the cops trying to chase you. Besides getting shot to death and banged up by cop cars crashing into you, another peril with which to contend is planting your car halfway into a wall. I had this happen a couple of times where I couldn't move forward or back and was stuck in the middle of what was supposed to be a solid structure. Of course, no one could hurt me in the stuck position, but I had to quit the game and start over. To fix the camera angle problems and enhance the driving experience, these developers need to learn lessons from the Grand Theft Auto franchise.
Rating: Summary: The biggest deception of 2003 Review: I feel sorry for Shiny entertaiment, and the creators of the matrix, this game is such a disappointment. Don't buy this game, it is horrible, I think the programers didn't have enough time to create it. 1. Bad graphics. 2. Lack of imagination (maps). 3. Very short game (you can finish it in 5 hours) 4. Fighting with weapons is just imposible!
Rating: Summary: Awesome!!!! Review: This has to be the best video game ever made. Everything about this game is perfect. It is amazing how you can go into bullet mode and dodge bullets, and the graphics are as good as there can be. Hands down, Atari has produced the best game ever made in our society
Rating: Summary: the best licensed rush job i've ever played Review: I really enjoyed this game but I can understand if some don't the controls for this game on the pc are damn awkward and hard to get used to. Let's get this straight I don't care what anyone tells you this game is an obvious rush job so it could be released with the movie. Another bad thing about this game is it's a twitch game meaning the controls and the environment are touchy meaning you don't really get good solid gameplay unless you practice. The reason I gave this game five stars is if you are willing to be patient and learn all this game has to offer it's quite a damn fun time. (this coming from a guy who didn't even really like the movie)
