Rating: Summary: A truly excellent game. Review: Graphics: Perfectly detailed 2D graphics, incredible artwork, evidently the work of a master artworker... Trees actually being moved by the wind, units looking unique and at the same time realistic... Very good job! 9/10Sound: Well, pretty simplistic... Swords clashing... Usual stuff. Unit replies... Uninspired. The only bad point of the game, and it has next to no importance at all. 7/10 AI: Very good. After a few games I didn't really get as good as the comp... On hard difficulty. He made 3-4 times more troops than I did, and better troops at that ;-). Really, no other strategy out there comes close. WC3 uses the old "computer know the map" and "computer controls his units superbly" tricks. CK just has good AI. It has a few minor glitches though, but nothing special. There are no 'easy' ways to slaughter him. 9/10 Interface: Perfect. Everything is easy to control. But then, most strategies these days have good interface. 10/10 Music: Good. Pretty dynamic. That's one thing I dislike about WC3 (pretty much the only one ;-)) - the music is... Silent and not really the dynamic thing it was in SC. CK has nice music. 10/10 Gameplay: Simplistic and very, very good. Basically you start with a walled town, your capitol. After that, when you start scouting, you claim carious outposts and smaller villages. Every one of these sends tribute to your capitol. Thus you have to protect your kingdom from raids, because if the caravans don't reach your capitol you get no money. When someone attacks your kingdom, naturally you go there. If you feel you lack the force for a direct battle, you can just garrison the village/otpost that is being besieged. If you hold the enemy long enough he will be forced to flee because of the lack of food. That's right, food. Your troops need food to live. The way to supply it is simple - click on your base, click to make a mule carrying food, click on your hero to add the mule to the army. But what if you have no food? Or your mule gets killed... I mentioned something about heroes. These are not the WC3 like heres. They are just one VERY strong unit. Now, you can attach up to 50 plain units to a hero. They gain bonuses and, under the hero's command, you can choose formations and other advanced tactics for them. It is plain and simple. Battles are not the WC3 clickfest - when your forces collide with the enemy it is more important where and how many are they than how fast do you click. Every unit has a special skill that is always active. For example a horseman does 6 times his normal damage with the first hit, because of his special skill 'charge'. This makes hit and run tactics with cavalry pretty useful. I can continue like this forever. The point is - the gameplay is all about strategy, just like WC3 is all about tactics. The games are pretty different, and CK will probably attract StarCraft lovers who find WC3 lacking in strategy. The gameplay too gets 10/10. Overall: A solid game with great graphics and good sound, full of great ideas and perfect realization. A must for any strategy lover. Even better, it is actually way cheaper than other new games such as WC3 and NWN. I would give the game 9.5-10/10. CONS: A few words about the cons... First, the single player is very, very well done and looks a bit like an RPG. Actually it looks like an RPG very much. THe big problem is that the big (and beautiful ;-)) maps are TOO big, and often you have to wait until your hero reaches a place far from him for quite a while. My testing was more in the 'skirmish' mode though, and so I didn't get THAT far in the campaign. I suspect it becomes even better as it expands. Even with this problem the campaign is still very fun, mind you. The other problem is that the game has only 2 races. They are VERY different, but well... WC3 has 4, even if some people say they look a bit like each other. Then again, AOK had one race, which with some changes was made into 14-15 'different' ones. COMPARED TO OTHER RTS'S: I play mostly RTS games, and this is among the best ones (not counting WC3 of course ;-)) from AOK until now... A truly magnificent game. So, my final advice is - buy it along with WC3 and give a try when you get bored with the creation of Blizzard... Or even earlier ;-). It is worth it.
Rating: Summary: Truly Consuming Review: I have had this game for about a year and have logged about 140 hours of play and I am still enjoying it very much. The game can move fast and you can be defeated rather quickly if disregard the principles of war. The use of Priest and Druids can decide your outcome depending on how well you use them. I personally like using the Battleships to win my campaigns. And on occasion I have been able to throw a hail mary and take out the opponent quickly and decisively. I must confess that I have come to enjoy playing from the Roman vantage but I have also taken out some Gaulic tribes and used them to defeat my opponents. I am truly looking forward to Celtic Kings: The Punic Wars, which will have more weapons, training, tribes (Romans, Iberians, Carthaginians) and battle formations. If you love strategy games than this one is for you.
Rating: Summary: Sets a New Standard for RTS Review: I just finished the single player campaign, and it was great. Celtig Kings is still a lot like TRAZ(the last haemimont product). The diversity of units is great, and I like the fact that the races have different abilities (gauls and romans). The graphics are good, and the addition of hero's are nice. Hero's do not change the game that much. The campagn is the best part, the game is almost worth it for that alone!

Rating: Summary: Not For Adults Review: If you're a fan of Historically-based strategy war-gaming, this game will disappoint. The name and the product description lead one to beleive that this plays like a strategy game. It plays more like a fantasy roll-playing game. The plot-line, and play are more than a little sophomoric. I lasted one game. I should have played a demo before I dropped cash on this game.

Rating: Summary: ok game......very hard Review: this game is ok the bad out weighs the good by a mile. 1. you cant build anything 2. your peasent have almost no options to control them 3. you dont destroy buildings, you capture them.....gay!!! 4.the single player maps are really easy, and boring. the rts-rpg part of the game ( which was why i bought it) was very dissapointing. now for the good, 1.the rts-rpg idea for this game was a good idea, just poorely done 2.each unit has levels and your heros have names and can carry items that can heal or raise attack and defense. borrow from a freind or buy it......for very cheap
