Summary: FANTASTIC.....just no real replay value!
Review: Wonderful game, extremely addicting with a great series of storylines, even if you're not a fan of the show. Only drawback?? Well, it has no replay value at all. You can only strive to find all clues on each case, and there's not much of a reward when you do. Maybe with more cases, and not as much of a non-linear detective style, this game would've gotten 5 stars.

Summary: CSI Season 1,2,3
Review: My name is Margie and I am from Charles City, Iowa. I have been watching CSI since it started and it is the best show I have seen. I am a proud owner of the complete season 1 episodes and love every one of them. I was wondering if there will be a DVD set of season 2 and 3 for sale as well? I would like to own all 3 plus more if made. CSI cast Keep up the great work. Miami doesn't hold a candle to you! I have seasons 2 & 3 on tape but would like DVD's if available. Thank You for a great show.

Summary: Great game, but too short and too easy
Review: I'm gonna keep this one short - I guess I pretty much have to agree with other reviewers. Its a fun game, and refreshing change of pace from the usual computer game genres and you actually have to stop and think carefully through each case. The graphics, sound and design really puts you into the spirit of the TV series. In general its also well polished, although for some reason all the sound and half the graphics disappear from the final case (and this didnt seem to be fixed by the current patch). However you are only given 5 cases to solve, and though they are not blindingly obvious it doesnt take a huge amount of time to follow the clues and apprehend the suspects. All in all I probably finished the game in about 6 hours which is way too short for a full-price commercial game in my opinion. So overall, an original, enjoyable and well produced game that just stops way too soon.

Summary: Wait for a price drop
Review: The game isn't bad overall. However, the 5 cases took little time to work through. The bonus "cartoon drawings" annoyed me tremendously. I'd like to see the game a little more open-ended perhaps. And definitely needs more cases. I really would hate to have to buy an expansion pack to get more cases. ...

Summary: Fun but short
Review: This game was a lot of fun but it did not take to long to finish it! It was sometimes nice having the characters help you but they always were looking over your shoulder. If you did something out of order, they would tell you 'There is no prints here'. Also, if you looked over one piece of evidence you could not move one. And, you rarely got to analyze the evidence for yourself. Greg usually does it all except for finger prints. However, I liked how all the graphics were so realistic and the cast's voices.

Summary: Not Worth the Money
Review: I Purchased this and While I Love CSI I did not love this game. It was too short, and it was for the most part too easy. I finshed this Game in 12 HOURS. Definately not worth the Money. It was entertaining enough, but I could have spent my money on Something else that was more worthwhile.

Review: I don't like paying [$] for games that I can beat in two days. It seriously lacks challenge, and even fun. Just go watch the TV show, which I looove. The game speed was horrible due to my 4-year old computer. But it's only 4 years old, with upgraded memory and XP and I still couldn't play the game without a jump every 1 second. Of course, I couldn't install the entire game, 1.5 gigs would take up 1/3 of my notebook's hard drive. As for gameplay, your cursor turns green every time you find something of interest. Why don't they just write it out in front of you??? So far, I have finished three cases, 100%, 100% and 98%...it's not that hard to get to 100% despite what other people are writing. I have no clue what I'm going to do with the game when I finish it in a few days, maybe use it as a coaster. Gamers: it's not worth it. CSI fans: Sorry, it's still not worth it.

Pros:
Character voices are the only thing keeping this game alive
Animation scenes are neat, but short, and stick to the show
Different platform of gaming

Cons:
Too easy- the whole gameplay is spelled out for you
Tools are too clearly defined in their roles and abilities
Bonus material is stupid
Repeating the tutorial on case 1
Only 5 cases

Summary: A pleasant game that falls short on its promise
Review: I am not a CSI fan, but I found the premise of the game fascinating enough to buy it.

Overview: Basically, you are new to the CSI team, so you apprentice under regular characters from the
TV show. You solve cases of increasing difficulty, each case under the tutelage of a different character. The cases are all interesting, and I found myself wishing I was a regular viewer of the show.

The cases: Each of the five cases tells an interesting story. The first case, a homicide, begins with training on how to use the interface--a nice touch. The second story is very satisfying with some interesting twists and turns.
The third episode was a disappointment; less involving, it fostered finding hotspots on the screen rather than putting clues together. The meatier fourth case derailed somewhat due to its revealing information in my case file or in dialogue questions before I was prepared to even think about these things; if that had not happened, I would have enjoyed it immensely. The last case was the best--except that the whole thing hinged on finding one piece of evidence that happened to be VERY close to another piece. Given that this hadn't happened (to my knowledge) in previous cases, I thought I had found everything and was frustrated for quite some time before unwittingly clicking a little higher than usual when trying to hunt (yet again) for missed clues in an ashtray. The final "action" sequence was out of character for the game, I thought, though it did enhance the story.

The interface and tools: The interface is user-friendly with clearly labeled areas for locations to visit, tools to use, evidence to analyze, etc. The tools were interesting, and you get to use all of them at least once; I do wish I could have had more opportunity to use some of them.

Gameplay: Gameplay consists of finding hotspots, recognizing what tools to use, and knowing where to go (Greg, microscope, or computer) to get the evidence analyzed. Since some judgment on your part is required, you do feel like you are solving a mystery, but the use of hotspots seriously limits the player's ability to think and act like a criminalist. I would have preferred exploring 3D environments and checking everything out for clues. Off-the-cuff remarks from your partners are helpful in processing clues, but they sometimes render unnecessary any judgment or thought on your part.

Solving cases: You can solve a case without all of the evidence detected and analyzed, so the game can seem very easy. You could be finished with the game in one day. However, if you want to be true to the game and be THOROUGH, then the cases become more difficult, because you have to find EVERYTHING and analyze EVERYTHING. Not all of the clues are obvious, so be patient and careful. Failing to ask a question, revisit a location, or pick up a clue will reduce your score. Ultimately, this game is about solving crimes AND being a thorough investigator. Replay value is for those interested in being thourough and finding everything.

Final thoughts: CSI is a good game, but it's short and a tad uneven. A nice introduction to forensics and evidence collection, it is worth playing to gain an appreciation for what criminalists do. As a game, it's not the best of its kind, but it is a nice, short, sometimes thought-provoking diversion. Recommended, especially when the price drops below $20.

I should note that this game reminded me of The X-Files computer game. Although that game had some annoying pixel hunting and too few game save slots, it allowed you to roam environments, search for clues WITHOUT hotspots (so you HAD to think about where things could be), engage in long conversations, keep in contact with superiors, collect evidence and take it in for analysis, and participate in a few action sequences; plus, it had multiple endings and a very nice story with some memorable characters. Those who liked this CSI game and those who aren't sure they want to buy it might want to check out The X-Files game, a much longer and more satisfying (4 star) game.
