UnixWare 7.1.1 NonStop Clusters provides totally dependable access to your business-critical data and applications. It links together individualnodes--whole computers, each running its own special copy of the UNIXkernel--such that they act and appear as a single system. If one node goesdown, or if an application fails on a particular node, processes areactively migrated and resumed. If a node needs to be taken offline, formaintenance or upgrading, the rest of the cluster continues to service itsusers. Other nodes in the cluster take care of new connections or instancesof applications. In this way, downtime, planned or unplanned, is eliminated.Features include 2- to 6-node single system image (SSI) clusters on standard Intel processor-based servers, high availability through failover between nodes,and dynamic load balancing and process migration between nodes. UnixWareapplications can run unmodified (cluster-unaware), and can be optimized to exploit cluster features. Single system image file systems, devices,and applications are accessible transparently across the cluster filesystems and devices.
