Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Stable and reliable
Review: Although networking is now built in to many of the current operating systems, Artisoft has continued the LANtastic line with this current release. The product installs on NT, Windows 98 and 95, Windows 3.1 and DOS to provide a single client interface to all operating system versions. The user interface is tight and streamlined and consistent with mappings, shares, and security all managed from a common point. For companies sharing the internet, the Artisoft NET BIOS allows your files to be shared via a different protocol than TCP/IP for additional security. On a 95/98 box, the Net Bios can be routed (not on NT), and it works seamlessly with other ARtisoft products like Xtra Mail, Biz Fax, and I-Share to provide a complete network solution. LANtastic adds speed and perfomance to the 95/98 platforms and a common interface to NT.

Summary: Solid solution
Review: We have been using Lantastic since it came out and I had to link two computers together for the first time in our start up business. Lantastic has allowed me to slowly add faster and faster computers and relegate the older ones down the line with out interrupting the business or killing the cash flow. Older computers with older operating systems work flawlessly on the LAN. We have not found a software package that didn't run, but found that the software companies do not test for compatibility AND "don't support it" however it works just the same. We have missed the Virus problems by virtue of not using a "main stream" system. I am satisfied, greatful and pray for their continuing success.

Summary: Why?
Review: What do you use a network for? Printing and file storage. Internet access. You get all that with 95/98/NT/2000 for free, why spend the extra money on Lantastic no less? Do you want to get laughed at every time you call in a network technician if you have a problem? Lantastic? I thought this product bit the dust along with Novell light and Appletalk. OY! By the way, the 2 ratings before mine are from Lantastic workers, they don't want to loose a job.
