Summary: Great Security! Just turn off the Ad Blocking.
Review: Because I have a cable internet connection, I use Norton Internet Security 2001 to keep hackers out of my computer and to protect it from viruses. I am honestly very impressed with the features and security of the program, but there are a few flaws. Because of the Ad Blocking option that can be enabled within the program, it also sometimes makes certain images on the internet appear distorted. Another problem that occurs is sometimes when I click a link, it does not completely redirect to the correct page (i.e., it will just show me a graphic from that page). This gets EXTREMELY annoying. I would try to solve the problem with Symantec tech support, but, unfortunately, they are not very efficient--they work through a newsgroup setup. You post your message in the newsgroup and a tech support person responds within a day. The good side about this is that it is free. If you need security, get this, and then just turn off the ad blocker. Otherwise, you will run into problems!

Summary: Great, if you like Blue screens
Review: Complaints about "unexpected kernal mode trap" error are unresolved. Run both programs and watch the blue screens arrive. Check out their site for this error report from others. There solution is there is no solution and has not been one for about six months now. Also there support must have blue screen problems, they don't reply.

Summary: Don't buy if you're a developer!
Review: I bought this, installed it, & all seemed fine. But when I started to do some ASP coding I discovered that the website doesn't run correctly any more (eg can't create text files via ASP). Apparently this is a known problem at Symantec and they 'say' they're working on a fix.

Review: I have been using Norton internet security version 3.0 for the past three months. The program consists of three main software applications: a firewall protection, protecting confidential information, and internet security.
It took me an hour to configure the software due to various applications accessing the internet. But once I was able to set the software I have been able to keep various intruders from my computer.
This software has tools that safeguard your information not only from the internet but also from yourself. I especially like the firewall since it enables me to choose the ports. Also the automatic updates help keep the software up to date. Another good item that I found was the set-up with your corporate VPN.
I gave the software four stars because the user interface is not comfortable.
Have fun keeping people out of your computer.

Summary: NIS is for the average consumer
Review: I like NIS very much. Though I love Black Ice also, I have
NIS running on several of the PCs I use because I like the idea of having virus protection and firewall/network security in
the same package. It is becoming easier and easier to configure, and I believe that it has gotten to the place where the average consumer can deal with it well. If you are a real dunce about computers you may want to get the help of a friend
when you install it, just so that you feel more confident, but this product is steadily improving.

Summary: Don't even Buy it
Review: I never got to use this product because of all the problems installing it.Not only did it never install correctly but it trashed other things that already worked. Unless you are a software/OS expert forget getting help from the WEB site. The information was confusing and in in a few cases incorrect. Customer service from Symatec. Forget it. I dare you to find a person to contact unless you are willing to pay $30. Any $70 product that costs $30 to install is not worth it.

Summary: Great, especially for Cable users like me!
Review: If you are Cable modem user, you know that whenever you leave your computer on, it is prone to hacker attacks, that is, unless you have Norton Internet Security. This program is so wonderful, and it is easy to use. Before purchasing version 3.0, I had version 1.0, the first version that was released. It was wonderful--it worked like a charm. When I owned that, I did not have a cable connection yet, and it protected me from hacker attacks (yes, through my 56k analog connection!)---three times! When I purchased the first version, it came with the parental control (in version 2.0, it was an option, as is with 2.5 and 3.0). I thought that, even though I would never really need it, it would be great because I would never run into porn sites. Well, there was never even a need for the parental control and it just slowed down my internet connection, so since on the new version it is an option (family edition comes with parental control), I decided that there was no need to spend an extra $10 for something that I would never need. And so far, there has been no need for it. I give NIS five stars, and it has earned each and every one of them!

And this provides you with excellent protection from some of their destructive antics! Provides excellent proetection from viruses and other internet attacks. If you have been attacked before, you know its necessary. And you probably have been attacked before and just didn't know that's why your computer was messing up! Get this program and you can be assured you will be safer!
