Summary: A Little TOO Good...
Review: After spending thousands of dollars on a top-of-the-line plasma set why skimp on the video connects? This was the premise on which I purchased the Monster THX certified Ultra 1000 component cables. And with the $140+ price tag I expected nothing but pure video ecstacy.

The results were painfully disappointing. My plasma is mounted on the wall and therefore all video cables were to be installed "in-wall" permanently, which gave even more reason to go with the highest quality and most reliable cables. Luckily for me I decided to use two different Monster component cables (1 THX certified and 1 Monstervideo2). After testing out the components using a high quality DVD source and alternatively a HDTV signal, Ive found that the THX Monster Cables over saturated my DVD picture which resulted in unnatural color rendition. Luckily, I had the MonsterVideo2's as back-up which produced a more realistic and accurate color rendition.

The bottom-line, although the Monster THX cables weren't favored for DVD connection they did produce a nice clean picture for my HDTV source. But for $140+ I expect a product that would be a little more flexible in its options especially since THX is synonymous with ultra high quality cinema production. My advice, stick with MonsterVideo2's or 3's for DVD connection, they are just as good and you arent paying for that THX branding.

Summary: EYE-GOUGING COLORS...
Review: I know that these cables are very expensive, but they are of very good build quality so it's a keeper!
Alot of people out there are avoiding these cables like the plague just because of the price.
Next thing you know, they get all CHEAP and start neglecting themselves by buying some other no-name brand $20 cables THINKING that they're gonna be getting the same level of quality as these cables right here.
That doesn't make no sense at all.
You get what you PAID for; that's just the way things work in this world.
In my opinion, I'd rather save up and get better cables now than to settle for cheaper ones and then regretting it later on.
You actually do not need to have state-of-the-art equipment or THX-encoded DVDs to enjoy the benefits that these cables offer.
As long as you have fairly recent equipment at home right now or are planning to buy new equipment, these cables will help you get the most colors and sharpness out of all your DVDs, VCDs and satellite programs.
You will notice that lips look redder, hair looks shinier, and eyes look beadier.
For those of you who like to watch alot of VCDs but keep complaining about the picture quality, you will also notice that there will be less pixelation and artifacting; ofentimes resulting from MPEG compression.
You will be able to see things more clearly from up close and afar.
With these cables, everything just looks alot cleaner and more solid overall.
The thing here is that the colors will become VERY STRONG; maybe even a little bit too strong for some viewers, but it is done in a very nice sort of way and the picture never bleeds or leaks.
If you feel that the colors are a little too over-saturated, then you can always adjust the color settings on your TV until it suits your taste.
People can lie to us with their mouths open all they want, but why would your OWN EYES lie to you?
You've really gotta see it to believe it!

Summary: Why the high price?
Review: I recently purchased a Widescreen projection TV and wanted the best cables for viewing movies from my progressive DVD player. In one word these cables are "Outstanding". I will never go back to S-video. I have always been a fan of Monster Cable products and the THX Ultra series does not dissapoint. Picture playback was crisp and sharp compared to my S-video set-up. Two thumbs up.

Summary: Why the high price?
Review: These cables preformed as well as a set of [$] cables on my new 30" Wide Screen HDTV, even at 1080i. I am not sure what the increase in price was for, maybe the gold plated connectors or thicker insulation.

I can't really recommend these over a cheaper set unless you have a problem with corrosion in your home (the only reason to have gold plating is to reduce corrosion, it does not provide enough difference in conductivity to matter) or you are going to be running your cables next to a source of a lot of interference, like a computer with a glass window on the side.

Save your money for something else that matters, or do like I did, take it back get a refund, and a new DVD player for the same price!

Summary: Quality matters
Review: These cables WILL significantly outperform cheaper cables, as long as you have equipment good enough to take advantage of their quality. A system is only as good as the weakest link, and I have a feeling someone who returns a $100 cable and buys a 'DVD player for the same price' has several links in his system that are considerably weaker than these cables. If you have a $100 DVD player, you shouldn't buy $100 cables. If you have good equipment and you're looking for cables that will allow your system to show it's potential, these will definitely impress you.
