Description:

Corel scores a hit with the iMac crowd with this collection--it's the only software package we've seen that comes in a Bondi blue plastic case. This is not a case of the packaging being better than the package, though, as 20,000 photos, 60,000 clip art images, 300 fonts, 4,100 templates, and more are included on this six-CD-ROM set.

What pulls this collection together, though, is the application itself, which serves as both a catalog reader and document builder. Documents are started by selecting a template--and they are available for anything from calendars to brochures to greeting cards to invitations and more. Graphics are dragged and dropped into place, and everything can be printed out cleanly on whatever printer is installed. There is also a sample collection of different printer papers from Paper Direct.

All of this comes in an easy-to-carry, easy-to-store, blue hard plastic case. The container is large enough to hold all six CD-ROMs, the user manual/catalog, and about 20 sheets of blank printer paper. If Corel were to make the case available in any iMac flavor, it would score a bigger hit with the color-coordinated iMac crowd.

Additional software features include direct scanner support and digital camera support, giving you the ability to customize any generic template by importing custom photos and artwork. It's a great value for a family and home office, and a good way to jump-start a clip art and font collection. --Mike Caputo
