Rating: Summary: Is this a Sequel? Review: Though I love the rich storyline of Diablo II, I find it hard to believe this is a sequel. The gameplay has hardly changed, the powers are similar. What's different from Diablo 1? The scenery and the graphics quality. So many times Blizzard releases an expansion, why not now? There is nothing done in Diablo II that Diablo 1 could not have handled. In all, I gave this game three stars for its story and ideas. It has an interesting metaplot that unravels as you progress. The graphics are also spectacular, though sometimes they seem choppy or cartoonish. Would I recommend this game? Absolutely. Will you enjoy it? I did, but I just don't see the difference from the original.
Rating: Summary: Great Game!!! Review: I thought Diablo was the end-all be-all of RPG's. I bought Diablo II expecting more of the same. Boy was I surprised, it was more and more and more than Diablo ever thought of. This is hands-down the single-best RPG I've played to date!
Rating: Summary: This game is still good after all this time Review: It is okay but there is little plot and depth the weak plot revolves around the fighting not like with Baldur's Gate were all the fighting comes out of the plot that is the best ever in a game.
Rating: Summary: The best game I ever played. Review: Try it and you'll see...
Rating: Summary: Excellent game, with a few flaws. Review: Before I write my review, I want to make sure you know that I played Diablo II BEFORE I played Diablo, which screwed my experience with Diablo in some respects (hated not having the running ability, already knew my character's fate, couldn't highlight items on the ground, etc). But otherwise I am not biased for or against this game. I got this game in early 2000, I would spend all day at it, the I would get up and play it at night, sometimes even affecting my performance at school. So it certaintly is addictive, to say the least. As I mentioned earlier, I played the demo, the the full version, of Diablo II first, so I did have those complaints I mentioned above. But had I gotten into RPGs earlier, I probably would not have anything against this game. Except for the running thing, I hate it when I have to chase the archer-goatmen down endless corridors, sometimes leading me unexpectedly into another horde of enemies, without having any other option than chasing him. Arghh, that's got to be the most annoying thing in the whole game, second to forgetting to save and then dying, forcing you to replay a portion of the game over, which is really annoying. Besides for that, and considering it was made in '97, I give this game an excellent rating. I mean, any game that makes me stay up all night has got to be good for SOMETHING.
Rating: Summary: Incredibly Addicting Review: It's a dumb game, really. Basically a simple graphic version of internet games like Rogue or Nethack, you wander around a dungeon, kill creatures, find better weapons and armor, which enables you to kill more creatures. But somehow it's incredibly addicting. I played it through as a warrior, and for three evenings straight cleaned out the dungeons. Wore out a mouse in the process. It's not a game I'd return to, and it's not worth spending a lot of money. But at this price? Believe me, you''ll get your money's worth.
Rating: Summary: Most awesome computer game Review: The only game better than Diablo might be Diablo II. I have played both games for hundreds of hours, and enjoy Diablo just as much as Diablo II. Each has its charm. More addictive than can be imagined-- will ruin your life if you get started playing this game-- you never want to stop playing. I am a 44 year-old college teacher, and I enjoy this game very much. Fun to play solo, or online with friends or strangers for multiplayer quests!
Rating: Summary: Good at first, fades over time Review: I bought Diablo II when it first came out for the Mac, and it occupied most of my free time for about three months. However, once you have 5 realm chars of all the classes to Chaos Sanctuary on Hell difficulty repeatedly, it gets boring. If you are looking for a great game to occupy yourself with for a while, get D2, but if you want a game that will last you quite some time, dont bother.

Rating: Summary: Diablo series or Baldur's Gate series? Review: There seems to be two types of RPG fans, the first who prefer Blizzard's RPG and the latter Interplay's. Having played both series, there is no question that both are extrememly original and addictive. The great reviews and praises the games have received are well justified. Diablo games are well suited for those who just want to get right into the action and start fighting. They are somewhat linear and lead to the same ultimate conclusion, but very replayable since the dungeons and magic items are so randomized. You can also play the game over and over, and get to keep the magical items you found in the previous games. Don't be automatically put off as soon as you see the cover art showing the Devil, a mistake I made earlier. You are not playing an evil character, but rather fighting evil itself. (Humans are neutral, where the forces of Good and Evil are constantly fighting to gain the favor of). Baldur's Gate series are more suited for people who love plots and a good storyline. You also have one ultimate conclusion, but there are many 'randomized' quests that make the game seem 'nonlinear'. Character creation is some of the best, allowing you to create up to 6 individuals (you can choose your race, class, import your own portrait, your voice, skin color, and so on). Nothing can beat Interplay's character creation. Magical items can also physically alter the appearance of your models as well. But ethical values really come into play in this series. It is such a shame that Interplay makes so many GREAT games, but literally forces the player to take on 'evil' roles. Why are most of the games they make like this? I am not going to reveal any plots, but still waiting for this great company to make something the 'nicer' gamers can appreciate. Good character alignment makes little difference when this comes into consideration. If you do not mind this and think that it is just a game, then Baldur's Gate series definitely are must-buy classics. This is meant to be an unbiased review. I find many reviews very helpful, and hope this helps you. Remember, both game series are great, and depends on what you are looking for.
