Rating: Summary: The KING of RPGS! Review: I love this game. I have had it for three years and I still play it constantly. I cannot wait for Diablo 2 when it comes out tommorow. Peace.
Rating: Summary: GREAT Review: I used to play this all the time with my friends. We used to fight over who would play. This never gets tiring and is a very good investment. I sugest you buy it. If you play the spawned vversion on the internet it is even funner. Bye.
Rating: Summary: Diablo Forever Review: Diablo is a *very* addictive game. Single player can be very challenging, or simple, depending on how much you want to take. Since the dungeons get more difficult as you get deeper into the labryth, you can set your own pace. Most people play the game online as well. The only problem with Diablo is that there are cheats out there to hack any item, duplicate stuff, free gold, edit your stats, etc..this isn't fair for multiplayer, especially when there are PK fights. I'm currently playing a level 31 Wizard on B.net. Up at these levels it takes a good bit of time to level. However, I've found that although the Warrior is strong in the beginning, later on it takes him longer to level than a Wizard. When starting out, I suggest joining a non-PK clan. Learn to play with some level 30+, who knows the tricks of the trade, and then branch out and do what you want. This game is waaaaaay addictive. Thanks for reading my article! Omerald ....
Rating: Summary: It's still fun after all these years Review: I've owned this game for about 2 years, and I still play it. Diablo uses a formula that is so simple, yet, complex. The game seems so simple and easy at first: Make trips down to the dungeon, fight, get items, return to town, heal, repeat cycle. However, the game is much deeper. They're 3 characters to use: Warrior, Rogue, and Sorceror. The Warrior is the best to use for beginners becuase all you have to do is use hack n' slash tactics. The Rogue is well balanced, she uses physical fighting as well as magic, and you have to master both to use her effectively. The Sorceror is the hardest to master becuase he is only good at using spells, but near the end of the game, the Sorceror becomes the most powerful. Diablo's plot is basic at first: You must go down into the dungeon and defeat the demon Diablo in order to save the town of Tristram. However, as you go through the game, you'll learn more about Diablo and about the town of Tristram. Despite what people say, this game DOES have a plot. The game takes place in the town of Tristram and the dungeon nearby it. The town of Tristram has many people to talk to, each with their own voice actors. The music is top-notch, you'll never want to turn the sound off. Each monster has their own roar, and some even talk to you. The gameplay is point-and-click. You click on the monster you want to vanquish. This sounds stupid at first but it gets more complex. You eventually learn spells and you must make strategies on how to use them. Also, they're countless items and armor to be found, which makes it all more interesting. Playing multiplayer is HORRIBLE becuase of cheaters. Trust me, if you want to play multiplayer, just wait for Diablo II. All in all, this game is a worthy purchase, and I still play it after all these years. Just be warned: It's addictive. VERY addictive. The formula of Diablo will make you sit on your chair and stare at the computer screen for days... weeks... months.
Rating: Summary: Who Wrote That Ending? Review: I am new to the world of fantasy role-playing games and "Diablo" was a fun way to start. The choice of characters is limited but what you can do with the characters is only limited by your ability to imagine. Every time you enter the world of "Diablo" there are new challenges, exciting discoveries and brutal combat. It is fast, exhilerating, exciting, intriquing and faithful to itself at all times. I found only one character prototype difficult to develope, the others provided excellent platforms from which to launch my multiple attacks on the evil dwelling beneath the church. The creators of the game did a fine job providing just enough help (maps, clues and tomes) to keep me interested and on the trail. My only problem with this game came when I finally advanced one character far enough to actually encounter the evil at the heart of the game. Diablo was too easy to kill. Then the creators provided a nicely done video clip of what happens next. The character that I had spent many hours creating does something so stupid I was actually angry. The ending provided is disappointing, demoralizing and has little or no basis in the carefully crafted reality. I refused to play again after viewing this clip. It felt as if they had gone to village idiot and asked him to write this ending.
Rating: Summary: Great game but gets boring after a while Review: When I first played this game i was amazed! This game was the best i had seen in a long time. The ai is ok but the best part of the game is the role-playing part of it. you have to go to town once in a while to get healed or to buy stuff. I reccomend only playing this game on multiplayer because single player isnt that good. But, after a while this game got extremely boring and it just seemed like a chore to play to me. i dont hardly ever play the game now but i might someday. but i reccomend you buy this game anyway because it is still a ... good game. it installs very easily and it will give you lots of hours of play for about 3 to 6 months.
Rating: Summary: Instant Addiction! Review: I'd beaten Baldur's Gate (+TSC), but rather than basking too long in that glory, I rushed back to the nearest Electronic Boutique, only to find there was nothing that appealed on their shelves (I refuse to pay full price for just released games, so Torment was out). The helpful assistant, when quizzed as to what someone who loved BG would like to play, mentioned Diablo - "an oldie but a goodie"; they didn't have it in stock, but it had recently been added to the "budget list" (30 of our miserable Aussie dollars, which just now is equal to about 10 cents US). My mission for the rest of the day was to track it down - 5 stores later, $30 poorer, it landed on my PC. And the next two days were lost. As someone else mentioned, this is not your traditional RPG - the nearest thing I can compare it to is AD&D's Dungeon Hack (all those oldies out there might remember it - I must have played that about a zillion times all those years ago). Each new game you play has the same end result, but the replayability comes in how you get there. Each new game spawns a dungeon filled with different items and a different combination (8, I think) of the 15 possible quests. You only have three classes to choose from, and the class stats are always the same, but that means character generation is as simple as choosing a class and thinking of a name. After BG/TSC, which took me I don't know how many hours over about 3 months to beat, I was fairly surprised when my warrior knocked it over in about 10 playing hours (and one star is lost from my rating because the final conflict was surprisingly easy, but then I did have a kickass weapon, pretty fantastic armour, the Mana Shield spell and plenty of Mana potions!), but I immediately generated a rogue and set off again! This is the kind of game you can play single character for a spare hour without having to get too involved in any plot consequences - the only strategy is kill or get killed! Beats playing patience every time!
Rating: Summary: For AD&D addicts! Review: For those who loved (or still enjoy) Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, this is one of the best games around. You get to choose between three different types of characters: your average Warrior, Rogue (equivilent to the Ranger type) and Sorcerer. Then, just like in the D&D game, the basic rule is always the same: you have a list of quests you need to fulfill and in the end, fight the ultimate evil monster, in this case Diablo. Those are the basics: the game sucks you in. You find yourself in one of the best games made - I've finished off the game 5 times now, and still enjoy it 3 years later! The graphics may be basic in today's age, but the fun is no less. There are roughly (I'm not giving everything away here!) 15 levels the player needs to travel through before reaching his/her final destination. Even if you choose to be a Warrior, unlike most D&D characters, you can cast spells, use wands and do most basic functions an average warrior does not usually enjoy. The only slight disagreement I have with the makers of this game, is that Armor Class betters when the points go UP and not DOWN which is the usual scenario....but, hey, that's detail. This game is beyond just plain entertainment. It keeps you up at night (literally). This is not the game to recommend to people who need their 8 hours of sleep!

Rating: Summary: An action classic Review: This game was and still is a fun adventure. While the game mechanics are fairly repetitive, click to hack and slash, it does offer random maps, a large assortment of items, and strategy in the form of monster resistances/immunities.
By today's standards this sounds weak, yet in reality it has the simple style that makes it easy to learn and hard to put down. Quickly, you get sucked into doing just one more level since you flew through the last one so quickly, only to spend an hour or more carefully picking your way through, so as not to be overwhelmed.
Easily accessible and playable again and again by yourself or with a group of friends, keeps Diablo a worthwhile value.
