Summary: Nothing less than perfection, regular Blizzard policy.
Review: A few days after I pre-ordered Warcraft III I though to myself, "What if this game isn't fine tuned enough and has tons of bugs?" Then I remembered that Blizzard was making it. The company with the best track record (another company that has one close is the Looking Glass studios, but they're gone).

Warcraft III is amazing. Hands down. Sporting 4 campaigns that are full of depth. And at the end of each campaign lies a beautiful cinematic. Starcraft players will notice some very similar missions such as the mission to gain mass resources for the next mission, defend a person for a time limit, and survive for a time limit are all here. The multiplayer community is already well developed with a Lord of the Rings scenario, paintball, and a hero arena. All are fun although LotR doesn't seem balanced enough. Also there are plenty of regular games going on too like shared bases, FFA, and team game.

The game controls and functions very similar to Starcraft. And that's just how they wanted it. Warcraft III has 4 different races. The Night Elves, Humans, Orcs, and Undead. The undead is a lot like the Zerg in Starcraft. The Undead are just strange. Some of their units can eat corpses to gain health, their siege weapon hurls half mangled corpses at buildings, and one unit has stitches connecting extra limbs. The Night Elves are strange too, but in a different way. All of their buildings are tree-like things, some buildings can up-root themselves and attack units, and the worker unit is a ball of light. The Orcs and Humans are pretty normal, or at least compared to the other two.

The units are good but the real high point of the game is the hero's. Each race gets 3 different heroes. The heroes gain one level (usually) in the campaign and can get up to level 10 in multiplayer. Each hero has 3 regular abilities with 3 different power levels for each. Then there is one major power such as resurrecting a group of units, raising an undead army, or a "blade storm" that damages all surrounding enemy units. You advance or discover these magic abilities every time you gain a level. Each hero has an inventory that holds up to 6 items. These items can be gained at shops, by finishing optional quests, or killing other heroes. And don't think that you don't have to use the heroes because regular units are good but a good player with a hero and 11 units to back him up can wipe out groups of units.

Another new addition to Warcraft is upkeep. While it may be annoying it is a great idea. Upkeep keeps the game under control. This is how it works. Once your population reaches 40 you go into low upkeep. This means that instead of getting 10 gold every time your miner gets back you only get 7. Once your population reaches 70 you go into high upkeep and only get 4 gold per return.

So how is the Collector's Edition? Amazing and worth the extra [money]. It includes an art book full of drawings and explanations from every game from the Warcraft series. The environment setting soundtrack is nice to listen to if you're just lying around in bed or any other place. Also included are 4 pictures that appear on the regular boxes. These look very nice and add to everything else. A DVD with all the Warcraft III cinematics is also included. As said before, the cinematics are gorgeous. Just be sure to play through the campaign or else you won't get the movies. A collector's edition manual, technology chart, and product guide are also included. Another thing that is nice is the box. It is hard and doesn't open like a regular box, it slides out. The game itself is on a collector's edition disc and case. All of this makes up the collector's edition.

Note: The bug were people are kicked out of games or immediatly disconnected has been fixed and is a required update... In short, Blizzard delivers an average Blizzard performance.

Summary: This is no RTS
Review: If you like StarCraft don't bother to buy this game,
It has to much Micro Management, and all you need to do is upgrade your hero, then just move him around like a vacuum (better yet upgrade all 3 heroes and move them together), and viola YOU WIN

Summary: Excellent game that was worth the wait.
Review: I have never been much a fan of warcraft games. When I got to school though a friend of mine was constantly hyping it up, and made us watch the trailer for the game. Upon viewing it, I was astonished at how cinematic this one looked. After long waiting I finally got a copy of the game and was in no way dissapointed. The game features an excellent story, excellenet graphics, excellet gameplay and an enriching world that you get completely drawn up into. The game has one of the best Tolkienesque feels to it that i have ever seen. I highly recommend purchasing this game, and playing it with the Lord of the Rings soundtrack on.

Summary: Warcraft3
Review: The most bogus game blizzard has come up with. For all the pre release hype it is not worth it. Not much improved from 2, with the exception of graphics. Some of the characters resemble diablo-expansion pack. Restriction of resouces for the full army is wrong, deduct from the account and not from the primary resource rate. The heros are good, but in all the game is boring. Liked Empire Earth much more. In some not worth the $$$.

Summary: A War worth fighting.
Review: Blizzard decided to put a spin on Strategy style gaming by adding persistent characters, as in a Role-playing game. You can still play customized battles against computer enemies or your friends, or with your friends against the computer--pure strategy game. But in campaign mode, you have a Hero that must survive each scene, so it's a little of both worlds. You get a new hero each Act, so your hero still isn't as important as if it were a true RPG. It takes some adjustment, but it's worth it.

This game has character, and that sets it apart from other strategy, and even some role-playing games. Units are more than just fodder and attack-bots, they have personality. The dwarven gyrocopters could be straight out of the Adventures of Baron Munchausen! And it actually feels evil to play the undead.

Single player mode can be a bit trying with some tedious objectives that don't make sense. Why again do I need to find exactly 100 zombies before the bad-guy does? What I love about Warcraft 3 though, is that it isn't about building the biggest force, since there is a practical limit to how large your army can be. It's about building a stronger force, and a powerful hero is crucial. Strategy takes more planning, which is important to me in this style of gaming.

This is sure to be a classic, definately worth getting.

Summary: THIS IS A GREAT GAME
Review: For all you fans out there who LOVED the other Warcraft games you won't be dissapointed with this new one. The races are amazing, the graphics are incredible, and the heroes are unbelievable! I give this game 5 stars because its everything it says it will be and more! If you like war and strategy games than this is the game for you. But, the extra things are kinda pointless, unless your a die-hard fan. All thats cool is the DVD. Its only [...] more. So, if your curious, then why not. I extremely recomend this game for people of all ages!

Summary: A great buy but it still has some problems
Review: The collector's edition is definetly worth buying over the regular edition considering when you consider what you get and how much it would cost you to get every thing seperately if you could.
Game play is great you'll spend hours playing it the graphics are excelent. This game is verry addicting.
The music is top notch and cinemagraphics are the best Blizzard has done to date.
The story does have some conflicts with Warcraft I and Warcraft II but it is very compelling and you'll play just to see how it ends.
Of the four races they all seem to be balanced, but certain ones are easier to play over others, so expect to hear players saying that one race needs to be fixed or this unit needs to be fixed, etc.
The events that happened in the Warcraft novels are connected to the game, as the novels set up and explain a few things, you'll find refrences to the novels in the manual. So if you haven't read any of the Warcraft novels pick them up too when you get the game.
Expect to find all kinds of hidden things in the game. Repeatdly clicking on sheep will cause them to explode. Units say funny and amusing stuff when repeatdly clicked for example.
Single player missions have optional quests in them so you'll want to play them again till you've uncovered and experienced all the optional quests.
If you are familar with epic fantasy the Elric seriers and Lord of the Rings for example you'll spot some things in the game.
Celtic and Norse mythology also appears to have had a hand in the design of the game.
There is a limt to the number of units you are allowed to have. Food has a caption of 90 and the game is designed to encourage you to have and use a small army with the use of Upkeep. Upkeep is a flat out tax taken on th gold you mine. "High Upkeep" can be very crippling, if you get into it by having too big an army.
The game ads Hero units, who have special abilities, and who can go up in level during game play. Thhe addition of Heroes is nice and it is what adds the RPG element to Warcraft III.
The game includes a World Editor so you can make custom maps and scenerios.

On the bad side:

1.)I found the single player missions to be not as challengeing as the single player ones in StarCraft.
The AI isn't as good as the StarCraft one.
You are given 2 difficulty levels to set the game at "Normal and "Hard". There is an "Easy" setting but you only can set a mission to that if you lose on "Normal" an say yes to lower the dificulty of the game. So play the game at "Hard" "Normal" is too easy IMHO. You'll also see a little something extra if you finish the game on "Hard" and watch through the ending credits.
The AI does play better when you play a custom game.

2.) A patch is allready out for the game and several knowm bugs still need to be fixed. The patch came out before the game was even available. The 1st patch released for it wich fixed some issues and added some balanceing changes. Expect to see several patches for this game as many players are finding bugs in it.

3.) Multiplayer is only through battle.net or LAN. Unlike StarCraft you can't play multiplayer by just dialing up and connecting to a friend's computer.

4.) Several players have allready experinced problems with Multiplayer mode. Unable to connect to battle.net, mid game disconects, and a few other problems wich need to be fixed. So be prepared for problems like this.

Overall, this is a must buy, but just beaware that it has bugs wich haven't been fixed yet.

Summary: A true classic of PC gaming
Review: First of, this is a great game. Blizzard is a great example of a group of developers who not only take the time to make a great game, but also love what they do. The final product is very evident of this. It's still a Blizzard RTS, but in ways it is different. War is waged will smaller armies with certain battlefield modifiers. Battles are more quick and intense. Better management and tactics are required to win the day. Overall, I would recommend this game to every RTS fan, especially every Blizzard RTS fan. There have been a few reader review that slam Blizzard and the majority gamers who like this game. No everybody will be satisfied, but some people are just plain idiotic. Instead of not listening to the hype, they complain and express their ignorance for everyone to see. Please do us a favor, do your research and know what you are talking about. Everyone has the right to express their opinion, but garbage will not do anyone any good.

On a final note, I definitely recommend the Collector's Edition. It's not for everybody, but if you have the money, it's an awesome package with so many extras. The Collector's Ed is not just a game, but an experience.
