Review: as far as i know, q4g5 has elements of 3/2. i haven't really been playing the game long enuf to see if 1/4 are there, but i haven't seen many other erasmus/his rat. does anyone know where the thief's guild is/how do you give sarra her basket back--i've tried everything...... anyway, this game is more fun than i thought it'd be. i paid an extra [money] for it thru [website], but it was well worth it.

Summary: Awesome game.
Review: At first, I only got Dragon Fire just to play it, beat it, and say I had beaten the entire Quest for Glory series. I played it a little when I first got it, and I wasn't too impressed, except for the graphics(the graphics are bloody fantastic). After I started the rites of rulership, the game pick up speed REALLY fast. I stopped playing after the second rite though. I got stuck at a point. This isn't exactly a game where you are told what you need to do, it takes a lot of figuring it out yourself. I just recently completed the entire game, it took about 2 days of non stop playing and doing things over and over again until I figured out what I had to do.

An important thing to remember is that if you have not played the first 4 Quest for Glories, this one won't make much sense to you. I suggest you get the QFG collection before getting this. It will both add to the fun of the game, and also you'll understand it better. Several people I know just got the game, and played, and hated it, because they hadn't play the first four, but I let them borrow my collection cd, after beating all of them, they thought very highly of QFG5. I don't know where you could get a collection from, amazon doesn't sell it, and no shop online I know of does either.

I admit that there is a little bit of corneyness in the game, just the fact that the people in the town consistently refer to you as "The Prince of Shapeir"(refer to Quest for Glory 2) or "Hero", which I find really irritating.

Here is a basic run through of the game for you: The point of the game is that you're trying to catch an assassin and the person who employed him. So you are sent to compete in the rites of rulership, which is a series of quests, because it is suspected that the one who killed the king is supporting a person in the rites of rulership, and will make sure that they win. Years earlier, before your character arrives to save the day, there was a dragon that came and invaded the kingdom, so they made some magic pillars, that would weaken the dragon when put up, and make it leave them alone. So now, the pillars that were placed up are being broken, an thereby useless, letting the dragon regain it's strengh. If the dragon gets free, it is thought taht it will be extremely angry for being drove into hiding, so these pillars being broken is not a good thing. So, you start the rites, the first rite is to free a fishing village from Roman invaders(Yes, this game is set around the time when the Romans where trying to take over everything). This is by far the easist rite, all you have to do is hack and slash your way through the entire rite. The next rite however gets a little more tricky, you are sent to kill or capture(whichever you prefer) a gerneral who is comanding the Roman invaders, and return with his shield. This one again is pretty simple, just hack and slash all they way through it. The next rite however, is not very easy at all. You have to fly to an island, and kill a three headed dragon, called "The Hydra", which can regenerate very quickly from almost any injury. One of your competitors in the rites will show up, and offer you some help, which you kind of have to accept. You attack the dragon, and cut off one of it's heads, and she(Elsa, your competitor) will burn it where the head was cut off in order to keep it from growing back. Then repeat that two more times for the other two heads. Then take the teeth to show that you killed it. The next rite is easy, all you have to do is go to an island, to see an oricale and put a drachma in some water, so then the oricale will speak to you, otherwise she is just a statu. Getting there is tricky, though. The next rite is REALLY, REALLY HARD. You have to go to the underworld, and get some lethe water, some styx water, and you have to free a soul from the dead. You have two choices, you can free Erana(refer to quest for glory 1 or 4) or Katrina(refer to quest for glory 4). It may not seem hard, but you're health is constantly dropping, so you have to keep taking health potions to keep from dying. Then comes the last rite, you have the fun of finding the assassin and killing him, then letting the person who hired him, kill himself...and here comes what you've been waiting for, you FINALLY get to see and kill the dragon that the game is based off of. You become king of Silmaria, and thus, the game ends.

Summary: A unique take on adventuring
Review: For those unfamiliar with the Quest for Glory series, you are allowed to choose between playing a fighter, a magician, or a thief.. also if you are a dilligent player of the series you can import a character from a previous game which gives you access to the Paladin. (Or if you know where to look on the internet, you can download a paladin elsewhere easily) Your goal is to win the rites of leadership over a land whose king was murdered and find out the truth behind his death. For whatever character type you play the means for solving the puzzles and finding the answers are different. As an added bonus, there are also numerous side quests for the various character types to complete which can double the length of the game, or you can ignore them and get to the meat of the issue if you'd rather.

Quest for Glory V is done in polygons and has multiplayer capability (if you download a patch from the Sierra website). You can choose the fighting and game difficulty in the menu screen if you want to focus more on fighting or on adventuring.

If there is any one thing I would nitpick about it would be the character movements, they're stiff and a bit unrealistic... but that can be easily cast aside once you begin to get into the game. Quest for Glory in its first four incarnations was a game played with sprites, so polygons add a whole new depth to it.

For someone that wants to play a fantasy adventure game this would be one of the games I reccomend. Since there are different quests for different character types you can also play this game more than once to see how things would go if you decided to be a Paladin or a thief instead of a wizard which gives it good replayability as well.

Summary: Goes out with a fizzle...
Review: I am a HUGE fan of the quest for glory series, in fact I still play quest for glory I-IV. But quest for glory V was seriously lacking. It seemed to be tacked on and quickly thrown together. If your a fan on QfG get this just to fifnish the series but be prepared to be disapointed. The only thing improved would be the graphics. The plot and humor that made I-IV what they were just doesn't seem to be in QfG5. My adviice, buy the QfG anthology I-IV are defiantly better even if there are in VGA (and worse) graphics.

Summary: My favorite RPG of all time
Review: I have owned this game for a few years now, and still I've found nothing I enjoy more. I have noticed some reviewers saying that QFG5 is nothing but a big inside joke with a hard to follow plot. I disagree. In fact, I have never even played any of the previous releases in the QFG series, and this one still ranks as my favorite. Even though I am not familiar with the characters from the previous installments, their appearance in this one doesn't seem out of place. You become familiar with the hero's past and just enough backstory is added so that new players can enjoy it just as much as the old. As for criticisms that the plot is confusing, I also disagree. I never had any problems following the plot except that there was one puzzle I couldn't solve without eventually seeking help. I knew what I had to do, but a mental block kept me just out of reach from the solution. My sister played this and figured out the solution immediately, so I think it's a flaw in the gamer, not the developers, so to speak. Ah, but where was I? Oh yes. Wonderful, magical, atmospheric game that is second to none!

Summary: TRUELY AWESOME
Review: I like role playing games but only certain types. Games like Zelda, who's fighting is continuous. There are those games with alternative fighting (where you make a move and must wait for your opponent to make his move). I'm sure that those games are interesting but not my type.

Quest for Glory V was the first computer role playing game I've played and I love it darely. The fighting is continuous and soooooo awesome. I was truly stunned. I recommend anyone who love role playing games to buy it.

If you've never played 1-4 (like me) then you may not be too sure about the history. But QFG V is about this hero (you) trying to solve a murder mystery (who killed the king) and fighting the dragon (once he awakes). It is my favorate game ever (although it is my first). I've played it many times. My favorate character is of course, the wizard. But you can choose from a total of four (including the paladin whom you can use).

Bottom line, Great game, neat story line, it may be tough without a guide, but that's why its called a role playing game. I hope you have fun playing the WIZARD.

Summary: The perfect ending to the series
Review: I like this game very much, although I agree with what most of the other reviewers said about this game, even those that didn't like it.

This game is as much fun to play and as engrossing as any of Sierra's best games. Right now, I am replaying this game after it has been out for a few years, and I can see it with new eyes. I feel that Sierra couldn't have made a better sequel to the series, and they have avoided both selling out and making an entirely unmarketable game.

Incidentally, I have also found out that an independent company called 'Tierra' is creating a remake of QFG2, which may be my favorite of the series. Another group is making an independent sequel called 'Hero 6.' Maybe the series isn't dead after all!

Anyway, if you like the classic adventure games, this may be the last of them. I personally think Dragon Fire ends the series very well.

Summary: A Great Game
Review: I liked the story a lot and the action of the game. It mixes adventure and action with a good plot, which is just how I like it. The graphics are pretty good, too.

Summary: Best RPG ever! The BEST in the Series!
Review: I LOVED this game! I thought that all of the games in the series were pretty good, but when I played this game I was blown away! It has amazing graphics, awesome voices for each character, and an interesting plot. There is mystery, adventure, and even romance in this game. I loved being each character, but the thief is the BEST! For each character there is a different game plot. Choose from Wizard, Paladin, Thief, or Fighter. If you buy this game you won't regret it. I keep playing it oevr and over. It's that good!!!
