Rating: Summary: Pretty to look at, but boring Review: Can't imagine what all the hoo-ha was about. The scenery is nice, the graphics are lifelike, but so what? The puzzles are pointless and the story is dumb.
Rating: Summary: Myst and Riven are truly the best games ever Review: They have stunning 3-d graphics, great music and gameplay and the storyline is very interesting.
Rating: Summary: A graphically stunning game Review: There are four thing's about Riven I think make it a good adventure game. 1.) It has great graphics. 2.) It has very realistic sound effect's. 3.) It has a good plot. 4.) It's possible to beat. I had a very fun time beating this game but after it was over I never had the desire to play it again. I had seen and done just about everything in the game. I had got the multipul ending's and searched the entire place for secrets. What I'm trying to say is it's a good game but it has no re-play value.
Rating: Summary: Riven: The Game which runs like molasses with out a good PC Review: This is defintetely an improvement on the original MYST. However, Riven does have one glitch which stands out. First of all, it is hardware intensive. If you have only 100 Mhz and 16 Megabytes of RAM, you can definetely compare this game to molasses. To rund this game smoothly, you need 200 Mhz and 40 Mega-bytes of RAM at the very least. I tested this game on a 100 Mhz computer running Windows 95 with 24 Megabytes of RAM. The preformance was adaquate, but each different scene took four to thirteen minimum requrements should be 32 Mega-bytes of RAM and a 200 Mhz processor. Wether you're running Riven on a Mac or a PC doesn't make a whole lot of difference.
Rating: Summary: The Best Game Ever Review: Hi there. I'm here just to say that Riven is the best game ever created, ever done in the world. It is simply wonderful. For you all who think that game. You can't just run "Setup.exe" and OK, that's it. You must immerse yourself in the game, in the atmosphere, to play it. If you do that, you will probably reach the end of the game. IMMERSE IN IT!!!
Rating: Summary: Ages of Myst Review: Riven is a great stand-alone game -- you don't have to play Myst to understand Riven. If you want to play both Myst and Riven, I recommend you buy AGES OF MYST -- It gives you both games for less than what you'd pay if you bought both games separately. Also, it includes a very cool hard cover journal that was made especially for this package and a Making of Riven CD-ROM video. There's also a Web site (agesofmyst.com) that has interviews with the game's creators and some more information on both games.
Rating: Summary: Just another one of them notes... Review: Yes, yes, I know I have already reviewed this product twice. I did the second time by accident. I just had to say that Riven is unlike other computer games in that there is virtually no fast action/violence. The fastest thing is probably the maglev ride, which was very fun. Then, the rest is the twisty plot. Pay no attention to any review comparing this game to others, because the style is just so different that it can't be compared. Forget you ever saw this, but take it onto mind. -Kat
Rating: Summary: I HAVE STARED BOREDOM IN THE FACE!! Review: Riven is the unneccessary sequel to Myst. Apparently, there are enough insomniacs out there to merit a sequel. I can't imagine anyone that would prefer this to an excellent game like Red Alert or Quake. If it's reflexes you lack, try Heroes Of Might and Magic 2 or Curse of Monkey Island. Please do not encourage the creators to make yet another sequel.
Rating: Summary: The best game I have ever played Review: When I played MYST I was thrilled by the graphics and how well the programmers had managed to integrate the puzzels. The fabulous graphics and well made videos from Myst have been taken to the most optimum in RIVEN. I also find that although I have an older Power Mac the videos are astonishingly fast. Another great thing are the islands: their atmospheres, their puzzles, and the way you traverse between them.
Rating: Summary: Don't Let Ghen Have All The Fun...BUY RIVEN! Review: Myst is the best selling CD-ROM Ever. RIVEN is all you would expect from a sequel. From the start, you are launched into the beautful world of Age Five (a.k.a. Riven). Turn the music up, the lights down...and prepare for immersion.....My one complant is the hardware needed. I played it on my brand-new PII-333, and even IT seemed stressed out at times. If you have the hardware, though, Riven is a wonderful game.....
