Summary: Really fun for only a few hours, then borrrrrrrring
Review: I got into this game quickly, enjoyed building and controlling my armies and fighting battles, but after two days, boredom set in. All you do is mine gold and lumber, build an army, move the army to a fight, start again. Became tedious after a while. Intriguing at first, but don't waste your money. I gave it three stars because it really is fun at first and I can at least see why the game has its fans.

Summary: A let down by Blizzard?
Review: After all of the hype. All of the waiting. All of the $$$ to get this title to my door. I wound up being disappointed.

That is not to say it's a bad game. I really enjoyed the single player game and the story and the movies that went along with it.

The multi-player game is good too. The balancing between the four races is incredible. Each race requires an entirely different way of playing. It's almost like 4 games in one.

I guess the main reason I'm disappointed with this one is that I'm just tiring of the RTS genre. There really wasn't much more in this game that hasn't been done before, mostly by Blizzard, of course.

Also living up to the Blizzard tradition, the game is almost bug free. With today's software, that's a big plus in itself. You can trust the Blizzard name for that.

Summary: Disappointment
Review: There are 2 main reasons why this game was a major disappointment.

1) You can only lasso 12 units at a time. This would not be so bad exact that you can queue up 7 units at a time so if you creat multimple barracks, say, 2 you can have 14 units before you know it, having to lasso 2 or 3 times to send them to the same location.

2) You can only have a max of 90 food. This is ridiculous and most disappointing element of the game. You can reach this limit in 15 mins into the game if your quick enough. E.g., If you have a small army (14 to 25 units) and are mining from multimple gold mines (2 to 3) and you reach the second or third layer of building upgrades you might as well forget producing any specialized units because you won't have enough food to support them!

But hey if you like to look at pretty graffics and to watch cool extraneous animations (E.g., the unit you select's portrait making funny facial expressions and speaking with poor lip sync), while having embarrassingly impoverished game play than this game is for you.

Summary: BLIZZARD CREW ARE GENIUSES
Review: I don't understand why some people complain about this game. It's simply the best game on the market with unbelievable graphics and cutscenes.
It's the best RTS game ever made.

Summary: A Milestone in Real Time Strategy
Review: Warcraft started the movement of real time strategy games. Many other games like Command and Conquer have tried to copy its style, but because it was the first, there always something magical in its gameplay that set it apart from so many others.

Warcraft 3 has taken real time strategy to an all time high, and throwing in elements of role-playing as well.

In this richly detailed story, you start out as Thrall, Chieftan of the Blackrock Clan. In a dream, a messenger taking on the form of a raven comes to you and tells you of his dark visions of Apocalypse and that Thrall must leave Azeroth behind and go to new lands to find his destiny. Thrall obeys, and leaves his homeland.

The unique thing about what happens next is how you are introduced to every race by playing them. After Thrall leaves in a prologue to the actual game called Exodus of the Horde, you play the human campaign, in which you must eliminate the Undead Scourge to prevent Armageddon. The main character concerned with this campaign is Prince Arthas, and his eventual turn to evil, making him join the Undead, rather than fight it. The rest of the game tells of Thrall's quest for destiny, as well as the fate of Azeroth under the mighty arm of the Undead.

The game, as a whole, is very unique, combining elements of strategy and role playing into a gaming experience unlike any other. The graphics are a new step in gaming as well, as all the landscape is completely 3-dimensional, and the units get larger and smaller depending on how high up or how far down they are on the topographic scale. There are four races to choose from in skirmishes, and you have numerous spells, abilities and upgrades to learn, making for a variety of options.

This game is a true milestone in real time strategy, the biggest one since the original Warcraft. Blizzard has done some fine work. May we be so lucky as to see more from them in the future.

Summary: Warcraft 3, the best pc game right now? Pretty close.
Review: Warcraft 3 is a great RTS game. I enjoy this game more than any other Blizzard product out right now. It captures all the elements of previous Blizzard titles including WarCraft 2, Star Craft and even a good bit of Diablo 2. I here people complaining about how there is less strategy in this game then they would expect, and yes this is true. Blizzard told that they were going to do this because they wanted more room for RPG elements in the game that their other strategy games didn't have. This move, in my opinion, improves the game immensely. Think about it. You do not have just spells and abilities that are seen in RPGs, but also leveling, optional questing, and good story. The single player game plays more like a RPG story rather than just missions to get to the end. The involvement of the story can be very easily contrasted to Diablo 2's story. What I am trying to say is that this game is a small RPG game in a very good and intense strategy game. Anyway, the graphics are very well done. The game takes a very long time to master(if that is even possible since there is always someone better than you). The 4 races offer alot of different strategies and possibilities to any kind of player. The main reward of this game would have to be the multiplayer on battlenet. Warcraft 3 offers much more options online than Blizzards older games. And the rating system that is offered to anyone on battlenet increases your motivation to do better online. Im rambling got to go. Remember to buy this game!

Summary: Just don't buy it used
Review: As for all Blizzard games with CD keys, don't bother buying it used - it's just way too likely that the seller has written down the CD key somewhere and is still going to use it. Then you'll be stuck, unable to play on battle.net while they're on.

All in all, it's a fun game - the graphics look great if your video card can support it. Basically it should be playable with all graphics settings to "High" if you have a Radeon 8500 or Geforce 3 or faster. An old Radeon or Geforce 2 would probably be better at mostly "Medium." Finally, Rage 128 or Voodoo 3000 cards would be a mix of "Medium" and "Low."

Summary: A big disappointment
Review: It's really hard to imagine that this is a Blizzard game. Granted the cutscene images and still art are great and the movies are everything I could have hoped for--but then the game starts.

Some people have mentioned that the art is a "little cartoony". I think that is being overly generous. Ugly polygon characters and cheesy cartoon face shots (with lip synch that's so far off it looks more like they're chewin' tabaccy than making dialogue) ruin the feel of the story. It ends up looking more like EverQuest and not enough like greats like Starcraft or the Diablo series. I was so disappointed I just ran through the levels as fast as I could to see the cinematics.

Summary: More Trite garbage...
Review: Three words for this franchise: "Out of gas". Warcraft 1 and 2 were excellent games, however, as with Blizzard's last few outings, this game falls well short of where it should be; offering nothing new or any kind of originality to the RTS genre. In game hero system? Warlords Battlecry 2 does it better... Great graphics? hardly, colorful, cartoonish triangles if anything else...Gameplay? eh.. boring after the first couple missions or so, no new missions of any kind to add life into this genre. Finally, the story is why this game gets one star.. It does have a fairly decent storyline, however, not up to par with some of the other great RPG storylines.

Summary: *WARNING! READ THIS BEFORE YOU PURCHASE GAME!!
Review: I have seen so many complaints directed at this game and I think it's time I stepped in and said something important about this game. Very important if you're thinking about purchasing this title.

First of all, I have been a Warcraft fan for quite a long time and I gave this game BECAUSE it manages to uphold the WARCRAFT tradition, with some new add-ins (such as heroes and upkeep). Notice how I said "Warcraft", and not "Starcraft". Fans of Starcraft, this is NOT Starcraft. If you have never played Warcraft before, then you might be getting the wrong game.

Warcraft is a world of green ugly orcs and honorable humans. There are no Zerg, foul language, spaceships, 200 unit cap, plenty of resources, etc. The game is on a very ancient level. Meaning the orcs and humans are also not that diverse. They have the same kind of units and the same kind of buildings and tech-trees. A catapult is equal to a ballista, while an archer is equal to a spearman, etc. Farms and Orc Burrows are stationary buildings, not like overlords. Also, there are always two mages of for each race of equal power (there have always been in Warcraft games).

Unit strengths are different too. In all Warcraft games, it is possible that a single unit could take out an entire base if he's powerful and smart. In Starcraft, you're more likely to need a lot more than just one unit. So don't start whining if a Paladin comes and your Grunts aren't strong enough to take him on. It's just how the game works, and that's where strategy comes in. Speaking of strategy, the unit cap is only 90 in Warcraft 3, which means you'll be doing more thinking than conquering. However, in my opinion this is the highest unit requirement yet. In Warcraft 1, 4 basic units was considered an army. You could even level a base just using 1 or 2 (such as the malevolent Daemons, which could literally kill every unit with just 1 hit).

So if you enjoy seeing huge masculine figures swinging their swords on the battlefield, you MIGHT enjoy Warcraft 3. But I sincerely urge you to play the previous Warcraft titles before you do your purchase, for this game is NOT Starcraft. Don't fall victim to the hype, it may be your undoing.
